  1. Hello & Welcome Some people feel very sad & angry to get a formal dx's but for others it is a life changing moment to better health...We all process things different so no right or wrong way. There is a learning curve to master the gluten-free lifestyle , it takes time but most get it figured out. Celiac is like a chameleon...
  2. I have been learning so much about Cat food lately... I love my furry friends as I love my children!!! Let's face it they are my kids now that the kids have grown...heck, I don't even think they know they are considered pets! But they put up with us humans & let us have a small place on the couch & bed!!!...
  3. Lisa, I do have other issues besides not being to keep B-12 in my system... I drop off rapidly, been like that most of my life....I developed angio lymphatic edema a few years ago from Levothyroxine & for nine months I was nothing but a BIG mess from the neck up.. plus the soft tissue inside my mouth was raw & bloody most of that time...I went to...
  4. I can't remember if you are a gluten-free home...if not & someone can eat the food when they come in person with no advanced warning, I would thank them & accept the food , truly doesn't mean you have to eat it unless you trust who prepared... If people call in advance , I would remind them not to bring any food that your house is strictly gluten...
  5. sometimes we need to take a step back & once again look at the situation.....I guess in rare cases one must live in a bubble with celiac but for most we can live normal lives...& still be healthy. For a few years I had to have a shared house with gluten. We were very careful & it all worked out......But...

  8. So sorry for your loss.... I lost my 16 1/2 year old kitty in April....I too am an animal lover & my love for them runs deep... Grommit knew you were there even if Grommit couldn't respond ..... and I'm positive that kitty knew you loved him.. Down the road I hope you adopt another to give a loving home to......
  9. there is a very "real" emotional side in the beginning. We all have been there . I know it doesn't truly help but honestly it does get better...Many go through a grieving process, denial, anger, fear, sadness, just the same as loosing a loved one...but then comes the emotional healing. There is no time frame, I'm gluten-free for over twelve years , very strict...
  10. Hope your healing is fast... You are so right , not every pain is from celiac... People do seem to fall into that rut that once dx'd with celiac every intestinal problem is celiac related... just not true... And a side note: Keep that husband, he is watching out for you!!!!!! hugs
  11. my opinion is I would scope him...this way there never would be doubt's down the road. I believe it makes the transition easier when one knows for positive... I will say I also have seen so many positive things come to children with Autism Spectrum on the gluten-free diet... I know not everyone would agree with that statement..
  12. I do eat out & only go to restaurants that have a gluten-free menu....I am very selective, I always remind them to make my salad in a clean bowl ( some are made in BIG bowls in the am) change gloves, no croutons....Meat prepared on foil, baked potato or sweet potato in foil. individual butter packets.... they may think I'm overkill...
  13. Sorry for some reason I can't copy & paste to here... I have made Lorka's bread many times , very good... If you google Lorka's gluten free flax bread her recipe will come up as I just did that but again can't copy & paste to here....I don't think she is on here anymore....

  17. Our local Red Robin is very clean & spot on so it must have been location...The fries are gluten-free with or without seasonings at ours...I usually just get my burger in a lettuce wrap.. I haven't eaten a bun with a burger for a long time & when I finally did I was so full I thought I would burst......I too think they are pricey...
  18. maybe think of it this way. 4 years your gut has been shouting , Fighting & kicking for someone to help it but it fell on deaf ears... Finally someone believed your symptoms & found you an answer. Sometimes it takes ten years for a dx's, sad but true....so now your gut has to repair all the damage & abuse that it...

  23. I don't have answers but I do know if you want copies of any testing they have to give you copies.....whether she thinks you need them or not... Don't let anyone tell you a patient can't have their own medical information.... some placed do charge for the photocopy....
  24. From my lab, range runs from 250 to 850 , so a very wide span... if anyone is in the range they are normal range. For me that is a BIG gap so I complained that I felt dead in the water & I needed more because as soon as I miss a shot my level drops fast & I'm back at 260... SO now the doc lets me have the ...
