  1. stainless steel pot& pans are the best. They will do the job without anything hidden... I would invest ina heavy weight set some are very light inweighed & things will not cook as well in them.My pans are heavy in weight so I don't get burning & uneven cooking. I would trash the teflon also.. Do a search on teflon & I bet you will be surprised...
  2. If you are looking for a quick fix (already made) we use Foods by George frozen shells.They sell these at WHole Foods. We to like Carol Fenster's or Annalise' recipe the best. Jillian, what market do you find Don Pepino's sauce? I haven't been able to find it... mamaw

I do make wheat things at times but I've got most of my family enjoying what I make gluten-free so it has gotten less but I still do a little wheat baking. one thing for sure is I do not use the same cooking supplies & I always scrub the counters & everything in the kitchen down with soapy, hot water then I clorox everything including the cat!!!...

  6. When using fresh pumpkin to make pies or bread you can find them at farmer's markets or in the fruit & veggie aisle. They are called cooking or baking pumpkins & usually are small. you just wash them off & put them in water & bring to a boil until you can pierce the shell with a fork.   8. Hi I'm from Butler but shop in Pgh often. Glutteny is or was supposed to open at the end of Aug 07. I haven't been down for a month so I'm not sure... Have you tried Bravo at the galleria, Mt.   9. sorry you are havine so much trouble trying to explain to family about this illness.... at times I think sometimes family is the worse to make understand. If its not happening to them they don't seem to care. But remember what goes around comes around!!!! I would buy me a couple of pans & hid them in my room & do my own cooking. I know that's alot...

  13. I guess I'm the cheapo here!!!! I washed & cloroxed all my better plastics then I put them in scalding water bath .. I did this several times & I haven't had a problem... I still use my plastic tupperware measuring cups & spoons.......but i cleaned then by the above method.... mamaw
  14. I do correct people but I don't dwell on it. I just say that an allergy is totalally different than celiac disease. Is they ask more ??'s then I go into detail but I've found family to be the least who ask ???'s as they think it may involve them in to having to do something special.... I have friends who are more involved than family.... The kids friends...

  17. If your family members do NOT get the celiac cc issue I definately would not eat the food!!! My family doesn't get it & at times think we are on some fad thing....others know the risk & have seen us very ill. So to solve the issue without putting anyone out I usually make our meal at home for the four celiacs & I try to make all the turkey ...

  20. I think the best pasta is BiAglut imported from Italy. It is made by Heinz. I too start checking it in about five mnutes & take it out when its the way I like it. Once it starts to boils heavy I do turn the fire down so it boils softly..... I also heat it up with no problems. For pizza shells already made I buy Foods By George shells. I do prebake...
  21. Rh 0- for me & also my daughter. I'm considered gluten intolerant & she is full blown celiacs..We are the oldest bloodtype known & we should be meat eaters not grain eaters.... I have found eating much more meat than I ever did I feel better--- no grains... My brother is 0- should be on the diet but to stubborn. I suspect my Dad o+ was celiac...

I think making the illness known & understood is a starting point... if I then got no results I would go to the school board & the superintendant of the school. When our kids went to kindergarden we brought a similar treat for our child each day. Plus we sent a note home to all classmates parents...
