  1. If you don't have a job - why not do all the cooking?
  2. DH is considered currently considered a form or manifestation of Celiac Disease. Open Original Shared Link
  3. My hub kept getting poison ivy right above his knees. Even when he hadn't been out side in the yard or grass for days. We discovered it was poison ivy - that was the level the dog's tail hit him. She was out at the fence where the poison ivy grew.
  4. What she said - except I might eat it from a carton in my fridge!
  5. Last night we had "Impossible Cheeseburger Pie" and a spinach and apple salad with pecans and a little lemony salad dressing I made. You could add things like taco seasonings and serve with salsa but ...for some reason, we always like it just like it is. http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/gluten-free-impossibly-easy-cheeseburger-pie/d85099e2-c64c-4...
  6. I am trying to find a link for it but I heard it, originally at ICDS last year. And some varieties of wheat have more gluten than others and are used differently - some for baking flour, some for all purpose flour, etc.
  7. I merged this topic with the other because they are the same topic. FYI in case it looks a bit odd.
  8. You could do the tissue ghost with them or the Tootsie pops
  9. Here is a list - there are likely more gluten-free candies that are not on the list. Open Original Shared Link
  10. There is some thought that modern bread has a higher gluten content. They add extra of the "gluten" component of wheat to the flour for higher rising, spongyer bread. The wheat isn't higher gluten - the flour mixture is. It can still be labelled as "flour" because that is what it is. (a bit like why 2 different corn flakes could have more sugar and the...
  11. If you have questions, you might get more answers over on the forum. You might find other people's threads and posts on the forum helpful, too.
  12. How about the info about where these quotes came from? Might be helpful in proving the validity of your info
  13. They are just letting the lawyers play around. Technically, gluten is a wide term that applies to grains. Gliadin gluten is the specific type in wheat. I would take it.
  14. Nuts? Fruit? Dried fruits? Do they have yogurt? Protein bars? Kind bars? Luna bars? Lara bars? Little PB packets? gluten-free granola? Could you make some eggs for yourself? Eat stuff from last night's dinner?
  15. I made these! Very nice. A bit like the top of a muffin - slightly crunchy out side and muffiny inside. Next time I think I will replace the chips with chopped walnuts or pecans. I put a speck of vanilla in the glaze. I didn't put them in the fridge before baking. http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/gluten-free-apple-pie-cookies/
  16. Maybe it has nothing to do with gluten? Maybe you have an issue with something in the air freshener? Or a cleaner they use? Or a mold in the air ducts? Or? sometimes it can be hard to know.
  17. I am going to tell you a top secret trick of this forum.. Shhh! Go to the main forum page (cause it works best from there, not sure why). IN the top tight corner is a rectangle "Search". To the right of it is an teeny tiny little gear . Click the gear. You can now search this site. Put in "Play dough" in quotes in the Find Words space. Then go way...
  18. I think the cheese sauce might be your biggest issue. Who knows what is in that stuff? It could have wheat as a thickener.
  19. Open Original Shared Link "Is it possible to have a negative blood test, but a positive biopsy? While rare, it is possible to have a negative blood test and still have celiac disease. tTG sensitivity is approximately 98%, which means that 2% of all celiacs may have a normal tTG level. Sometimes tTG antibodies are not produced enough to show up in...
  20. Well...that leaves me out! I always want to take a pic of my food to post but forget until I have eaten it!
  21. A lot of people like an on-line one. something like nuts.com? edit - just checked - it is nuts.com
  22. LOL Too funny. Maybe I will change my profile picture to a flashlight? My son and I thought that if we made a really slick website -we could sell pills that allow you to eat gluten. They come in pretty colors with a pleasant fruity taste. The white "S" printed on them is not for "Skittles" but the name of the medication "Stupigulliblex". Maybe...
  23. If they aren't your company - recommend away!
  24. There are quite a few of these people on-line selling on-line "coaching" for gluten-free nonsense. Sounds like your "advocate" is a bit shady, too. Probably gets a payment for each person that links through her site. Glad you are able to tell the difference between legit and make believe.
  25. I don't worry about mascara. Not sure if there are any with gluten. The main things to worry about are the things, like lip gloss, that will get into your mouth. I worry about shampoo and lotions, too - that's because I am clutzy and get that stuff in my mouth!
