  7. i will have to try that radish thing next time we grow those. we have a dehydrator but i am afraid to use it because of many years of venison and beef jerky with regular soy sauce and it has plastic racks......... here! here! to not being half-dead and trying to garden!! i'm not Completely Wiped Out in an hour
  8. it *is* better than spam. you are justified, addy i bust out the prego every now and again. (i tell myself it's because the husband likes it....) <see? justified! lolz
  9. omgosh, we had the same problem a few years ago!! those things chewed through EVERYTHING and we finally did what y'all did: wire. they tried to chew through that, too!! good thing you got them out. my grammy had them in her attic and didn't think much of it until she had like a squirrel village up there - nasty, smelly, dirty things and they multiply...

  11. i remember you, dani - so sorry, sweetie i believe my grandfather died of untreated celiac, he had intestinal cancer that spread everywhere before they even knew he had it. he always had 'bathroom issues' - he was 82. my mother, who never smoked a day in her life, hardly drank, etc, died of lung cancer. i never questioned or made the connection because...
  12. 'ibs' is what they told me i had when they didn't know what was wrong with me. also 'you must have colitis' - which neither was true. i have other food sensitivities that i figured out using a food journal. every person is different. maybe try that? i kept track of EVERYTHING i ate, every ingredient, and used a scale from 1-7 with 4 being 'eh' lolz ...
  13. we grew radishes one year - i'm not a fan, but i thought maybe if i did something different with them instead of just eating them raw. what do you do with them when you have a big harvest? the napa cabbage did not wilt and die, but regrew multiple shoots and is now trying to re-bolt. jerks. wow, they have a sh-ton of mint varieties! i was looking...

  15. welcome to the best club you never wanted to join :/ you said it yourself, foodie it *is* a good opportunity to learn new things to cook. i felt the same way: i was always looking for new restaurants/ new recipes/ things to make. i had just gotten pretty good at making 'gluten' bread and i was pretty proud of myself, then, BOOM that was the end...
  16. omgosh, sorry i misunderstood - i hope your daughter is alright. if my kid was in the ICU, i would have a headache and stomachache, too! hope you feel better. (stress does me in. my doc gives me a xanax script for especially stressful times. i hardly ever take it, but when i need it, it keeps me from losing my lunch/dinner, etc iykwim)
  17. GREAT MINDS, ADDY!! that is exactly what i am doing. it may or may not work but i look like i am making the effort hahahaa - it's a decent sized pot, as a nod to the mint...
  18. oh, no ! we had a little bit of a cooldown last week and even frost warnings on 2 nights, but everybody survived. to be eaten by something lolz - well, i got a little joy in the japanese eggplant <something new) when i lost that one. also lost a tomato plant but replaced that with a heirloom cherry tomato. i put him next to the hybrid cherry - i wonder...
  19. i have some of that so it's worth a try! i will report back i have never had a problem with the birds, either - we have a crap-ton of cardinals this year for some reason and i am always shooing them out of that end where all the carnage is happening. ugh i would hate for it to be rats but it is a possibility they are pretty sneaky. we put cages...
  20. have you tried feeding her gluten-free? my grandson has all kinds of symptoms and responds well to the gluten-free diet. but his test (and i do not know exactly what test - it was done at his general pediatrician) came back negative so they feed him 'regular' food and (poor guy) he still has issues have they tested her for lactose intolerance? edited...
  21. have you moved somewhere or gotten a new job, etc, that has alot of stairs? that (just in one leg and similar to shin splints) happens to me sometimes - one time my friend's elevator went out in her building and we had to walk it - 12 flights!! it took them a week to get the part and oh, boy, i thought it was broken. maybe try heat or ice? to see if it...
  22. i heard that disney owns iron man, so i checked. indeed, they do. it's still nice that it made your kid feel cool. heck, i feel pretty cool hearing that and i didn't even see the movie! lolz i'm glad they took that crappy show down! the relentless garbage disney churns out geared for 'tweens' is ridiculous. too bad, though, i heard they do a good...
  23. that is wonderful i *LOVE* posts like this!! you may also be surprised, as time goes by and you continue to be strict with your diet, that other symptoms (i had some i didn't even know i had until they went away) will just disappear. recently, i was able to drive home at night in the rain <something i thought i would never do again - just thought my...
