  1. Do some mental imagery about the dangers of gluten and what it must be doing to your intestines. You must find a way to make yourself stay strict...and along with having good food choices available you need to have a mental picture...a reason you are staying gluten free. You must not get very sick from gluten or you wouldn't be able to fall off the wagon...
  2. Do you mind posting the Brand Name of the Butterbur Supplement and how much you take to manage your migraines? I can't take Ibuprofen due to Salicylate intolerance. I have menstrual migraines and wondered it this Butterbur might work for that? Do you know? Thank you.
  3. I am so Happy! for you! I would not be well from my DH if it weren't for all the posts on here. So I second and third your thank you to all posters with DH!! Hey! I never even thought about iodine in makeup! Is it there too? What did you look for? OMG!! Mine is on my face and I wear makeup every day. What brand of makeup are you using? If any?
  4. Well, it appears that the reason I have never found True Love.... is because I have never owned a Cast Iron Pan!! I'll be getting one now thanks to your expressions of love. So when you start brand new...what do you do to the pan? I think I smoked up the whole house once trying to season a new pan...then gave up and bought teflon.
  5. I've read about that very thing! DH is sensitive to any trauma to the skin. So a burn could activate your DH too. Of course if you have only been gluten free for 3 months you still have antibodies in the skin and it is very sensitive to trauma. That is why itching DH makes it so much worse. I have read about this happening in articles and in the archives...
  6. I hated the Silk Coconut Milk. Ugh. Is So Delicious better than that? Maybe I expected a coconut hint in the flavor...it was thick and tasteless to me. I'll have to see if I can find that brand.
  7. If somebody makes cinnamon rolls out of this...please write about it. I love reading about this bread! I'm going to have to try...hey GlutenFreeManna? Did you make yours without using a mixer??? Did all of you make braids with your bread dough??? Did anyone make regular loaves? Is this important or not?
  8. Oh my God that cake looks delicious!! Hey Love2Travel? Can you make a dairy free, egg free version of that? I know, I know.... No, I can't have it...but I'm saving the recipe for the day I want to test both dairy and eggs. It would be perfect to challenge them both!
  9. After one year of obsessively reading labels....I did that very thing last week. Bought another version of a choclate bar that is supposed to be safe...but this one "crunched" and as I was chewing I read the label. Ugh...Barley Malt and Rice Krispies....even though I didn't swallow it I paid for it dearly all week. Migraines, DH sores...yup...I really did...
  10. Grate idea! Now, how do you make Homemade Tater Tots??? My son would be so thrilled!
  11. Well then, it sounds like we need a Flatbread Thread! I would love to know how other's make flatbread. I have only made Besan (Garbanzo Bean flour) Flattbread. Recipes? Or should I start a new thread? I figure it is a "flatbread dilemma" for all of us right?
  12. Doesn't Miracle Whip have Soy in it?? I thought it did. Just googled and it does have soy. Basically you can develop an intolerance or allergy to any food. Shortly after going gluten free, I started reacting to eggs. There is another thread on egg intolerance/sensitivity...put that in the search box and you will come up with what others have said. Due...
  13. Glutenfreemanna, that is a great idea. At first I was soooo happy for you Marilyn... Then I wanted to order some for myself.... Then I started thinking oh crap that isn't safe no matter how good it was if it has trace gluten in it. But if we make it...hmmm... I will be watching with interest.
  14. I was a fat Celiac too. With rashes that wouldn't heal. I'm 5' exactly and my weight was up to 200. Since going gluten free one year ago...I now weigh 120 without any effort at all. I totally agree with Rosetapper23. Paleo is perfect for us. I don't have that book, but I will be getting it. For websites you can try Mark's Daily Apple- lots of research...
  15. This is the most exciting part about being gluten free. No more being tired to the bone. No more sleepy groggy fatigue and no more brain fog....unless of course I get a trace of gluten...then it all comes back. It really was most exciting to not have to live like the walking dead. It was most definitely gluten related for me. Slept too much of my life...
  16. It's very common to become intolerant of dairy after giving up gluten. I didn't believe it at first, even though I read a lot of posts on it here, I just didn't want to think it would happen to me. But it did. Just a few months after giving up gluten had to give up dairy...(well most of it...I still use a dab of butter) I keep hoping I will be one who can...
  17. Why don't you try it and see if it bothers you? The worst that can happen is that you can't finish the batch you make because you can't tolerate it. I used to make yogurt all the time...loved it...but didn't use the powdered milk. Now though, I am dairy intolerant and every time I try yogurt it proves to be true all over again. Good luck, I hope you are...
  18. I only use Basmati rice. But it freezes very well in individual ziplock bags. I leave a few baggies of rice in the fridge for my son to grab and microwave as needed. I usually have a pot of meat or chicken stew made with Shan Spices...like Biryani but there are about a hundred of them. Read the igredients list....a very few will contain wheat...of course...
  19. You probably just solved your problems with that one fateful decision to go gluten free. Everything you listed as your symptoms is consistent with Celiac. I can tell you it the most amazing relief to be free of the crushing depression and anxiety associated with Celiac disease. It was there all my life too. Stay gluten free...be very strict about...
  20. I almost had all my lesions healed after a year of ups and downs, flares and healing. Got glutened last week. I thought I had gotten away with it as I had no symptoms for 2 days. Then got major migraine and the day after new blisters...tiny pinpoint blisters that hurt, hurt, hurt. Miserable. I don't know how long it will last, but for now I am avoiding...
  21. I didn't believe at first about the trace gluten and cross contamination. But I am a believer now! I read about kissing a gluten eater...didn't want to think it would be true for me...but it was. You can either believe it or test it, but I can tell you that tiny trace gluten can make DH react for a long time. Now I'm on the paranoid side...and believe all...
  22. Nutsonline.com Hemp protein powder. The also have green pea protein powder but I thought it was absolutely vile.
  23. How fun it was to read this thread! I looked at each post like a new chapter and I could actually smell the bread baking as you all described it! This is the first wonderful gluten free bread saga I have read. It was delightful fun to see how they all turned out! I am going to make this soon...I loved how she said she was waiting as a small baby waits...
  24. Lack of protein can cause thin brittle nails with horizontal ridges. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies cause vertical ridges and unhealthy nails.
  25. Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroid or Hashimoto's can make it feel impossible to lose weight. Sluggishness of the digestive system happens because metabolism is regulated by the thyroid. If you haven't had it checked it might be a good idea. Depression and tiredness can result among other symptoms. I, too, would have suggested more protein...
