  1. I sound like a broken record, I know, but Pondy, I am still thinking dairy and possible CC. Having your pain lighten up is a clue. The BM issue? take probiotics. Drink water and NO DAIRY, not even lactose free. (sorry hunny) Hang in there. You know how we both have burny and sensitive skin and hurt all over? Read this article: Open Original...
  2. Here is an article you can print off and bring to the doctor. Would they believe one of the foremost authorities on gluten and Celiac Disease research? Open Original Shared Link
  3. I cannot add much except: hear ! hear! What a fiasco it was for me to get DXed...YEARS of misdiagnoses and going from one doctor to the next with no answers. I figured it out myself !! and then, the doctor said "OH, yes........." My husband read this article in the Times last month and said "Babe, this is YOU!" I complained of hurting all...
  4. now we're talking.... I had champagne for my Bday last week--- the first alcohol in two years and it was delicious......here's to healing! yaaay!
  5. Well, you have had quite an ordeal (sorry ) and I have to wonder if the nausea isn't a result of all that. Iron supplementation can cause both nausea and serious constipation. Adrenal insufficiency causes nausea, among other symptoms. Didn't the doctor tell you this? He/she should have. The Vit D/soybean oil is probably the least likely...
  6. Hey :)

going in for genetic testing tomorrow.

I feel ok some days and some days its bad :(

i just think positive. I could have it worse like crohn's disease o.O that would be worse.

hope your feeling healthy too! :) especially with the holidays coming up!!

  7. so....How you doing??
  8. ... because all that label reading has made you an expert !!!
  9. You wrote this part in a prior post, but I did not wish to pry. I am wondering...Is there another illness going on that would explain your recent bout with gut/nausea issues besides soybean oil??
  10. If you have celiac, you should avoid ALL dairy for the first few months. Why? because lactase, which is the enzyme that breaks down the sugar lactose, is produced in the tip of the villi. When the villi get blunted in celiac disease, sometimes the ability to digest lactose is decreased and you can become lactose intolerant. This may cause bloating, stomach...
  11. So, I am wondering...after all we told you....how is he doing????
  12. Regardless of whether it is a mixed household or not, she can show her MIL how she uses alternative flours (show her what they are and what they look like) in her baking--- or for dusting meats before searing--- or how to use gluten-free bread crumbs( in a meatloaf or meatballs )--- or show her how to prepare gluten-free pasta. Things like that. Explain...
  13. I think your new doctor is just being thorough. If you still have extreme pain, perhaps he is trying to rule out any other complications? My new GI did a small bowel series and testing for Crohn's and IBD after DX because he said it is wise to check for lymphoma, obstructions, or anything else in the GI tract--especially since I went Un- DXed for most...
  14. I hear you--- and me too, kiddo. Me too! I am so tired of always feeling like crap and having SO many ramifications from long unDXed celiac. It seems endless but I never give up. I just keep hanging on. Best wishes to you. Get better soon.
  15. If she explains the various steps as she prepares, the MIL can watch and ask questions. At least, it's worth a try. The bottom line is even if the MIL doesn't come around to understanding, you can all have dinner together. Isn't that the point?
  16. As I said earlier in this thread, that is what I would do. Invite them to your house. It's a chance to (1) prove that gluten-free meals are delicious (2) educate them a little bit on the preparation and care of what you do to avoid CC. Hopefully, it will be a win-win. Let us know how it goes with the MIL.
  17. Using "Guys" for everyone---is the same in the US Was that comment from a doctor? Because if it came from a non-medical professional, it's understandable. Celiac disease is woefully misunderstood--even in the medical community. That archaic thinking "children's disease" (or worse, something a child can "outgrow") is what left millions of people...
  18. Excellent point! Thanks for posting this. I think this is often overlooked when people wonder why they still do not feel so well, even after giving up gluten. As long as there is still damage, there will still be system-wide issues. Had nearly the same conversation with my GI doc at the last check up. I keep asking him why I react so violently to medications...
  19. Oh boy, is he ever! and he makes the best gluten-free bread, too. If I had not had him to keep me sane the last five years of this nightmare, I do not know what would have become of me. He's my rock and my heartbeat. Fortunately, he stuck by me when I became so inexplicably ill and incapacitated. Sadly, so many others on here report otherwise...
  20. I pestered the company to make sure and they wrote me a nice email explaining their testing procedure. Chemist hubby insisted we test all my supps with glutentox kit--tests for less than 5ppm . (for whatever that is worth) All "good to go"! We take no chances!!
  21. I read this in an article I bookmarked from Medscape. I believe the authors are gastroenterologists from Sweden. Open Original Shared Link In part, it says: "Although villous atrophy is not exclusive of celiac disease, it is considered a crucial finding. Other causes of blunted villi include tropical sprue, malnutrition, intolerance to cow...
  22. It is not the number of posts you write, but if the information in a post was helpful to you, and you wish to give it a "thumbs up", so to speak, just click on the plus sign. I do not think voting a post down occurs very often. I have only seen it once or twice in 2 years of reading posts on this forum. There's really no need for it unless someone...
  23. OY! Oh, right... .the Ezekial bread....That stuff tastes like wood chips anyway. Blech. Back in 2009, before DX when I was very ill, a nurse practitioner suggested I eat that bread "for extra fiber". Horrid stuff.
  24. Thank you for your support!

  25. Really...I did not know that! (although I do not use any of their products) Good to know.
