  1. I never have never gotten a flu shot, and I have never gotten the flu. I am fanatical about washing my hands, and I keep my face away from people, even healthy people, so they don't breathe their germs on me. I may have mentioned before, I am a bit OCD. I don't like doctors and avoid them like the plague (or flu, as the case may be.) I may be playing...
  2. I'm sure most of you have seen this, but just in case, here's a heads-up. I don't eat peanut butter and there is no Trader Joe's in my area, so I don't even know if this is gluten-free, but just in case... Open Original Shared Link
  3. The little grocery stores in my town don't have a gluten-free section. They DO have some gluten-free foods, but they are all mixed in with the "poison" foods. The gluten-free Betty Crocker cake mixes for example, are shoulder to shoulder with the regular cake mixes. There's no doubt in my mind they have flour dust all over them. No way I would ever buy them...
  4. It would be interesting to compare the numbers of people (and animals) with each of the different medical problems in Europe and in America. I'm not sure all of that info is available on the web, and I don't have time today to look these things up, but maybe on Monday I'll take a look. It might well be the Roundup causing the problems, but I suspect it...
  5. I'm a lousy cook, but I wanted to make rice pudding once. I don't like raisins, but I had some organic blueberries. What I did was make the rice, add the blueberries, then I stirred in some ICE CREAM, vanilla of course. Then I baked it. It came out really good! It was so easy I would do it again, except I found out I am still so salicylate senstive that I...
  6. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes... I have a guitar student who is the sweetest, most wonderful little girl I have ever known. Her entire family has been one of my greatest blessings. She has a sister who I believe has celiac. She gets stomach aches when she eats gluten, and she also gets "spots" which sound like DH....
  7. I don't THINK so, but when you crack the shell, any CC on the outside is bound to touch the inside, even if just for a second.
  8. If you decide to try Blue Bunny again, make sure it's ALL NATURAL. They have Vanilla, French Vanilla, Homemade Vanilla, and All Natural Vanilla. The All Natural is the only one without tons of crap in it.
  9. Ah yes, medicine and corn. The only pain reliever I have ever found that does not contain corn (or gluten of course) is BC Asperin Powder. If you can't find it locally, you can get it online. Unfortunately for me, I am salicylate sensitive and can't take asperin. So I have Tylenol made at a conpounding pharmacy. I have to have ALL of my meds made...
  10. I had that bug. I never had nausea with it but plenty of D and lots of bloating and gas. That was several weeks ago and I am still having some bloating and gas that comes on later in the day. I was thinking it was food related, but now I'm thinking it's lingering effects of the bug. I haven't been eating anything that should cause it. Maybe this thing likes...
  11. Hagen Daz doesn't have any gums at all and it is sweetened with sugar. I have heard that carageenan can give some folks trouble. And I have found out that I can't eat chocolate anymore. I was eating some chocolate ice cream once, and as I was eating it, mouth blisters started popping out. I have no idea why. I switched to eating vanilla ice cream and...
  12. When they go away does the skin around where the bump was peel? My palmoplantar pustular psoriasis started with just one or two bumps like that. At first they didn't look like the whithead pimples that they do now when I get a flare. They too were just bumps. Then they would go away and I would get a new one someplace else. Eventually I got more and more...
  13. That's great to hear. I spent some time eating in New Orleans several years ago, before I got sick. The food was the very best I ever had. I would imagine that even gluten-free food in New Orleans would be wonderful. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!
  14. For those of you who don't have time to watch the whole thing, believe me, if you did watch it you would definitely do everything you can to avoid GMO foods. During the last ten minutes of the film they mentioned this site: Open Original Shared Link I just added it to my favorites bar. BridgeOfSighs, I can't thank you enough! (Great screen name too...
  15. "While I realize that you refuse to accomidate my special dietary needs out of fear of a lawsuit should something go wrong, I would strongly suggest that in the future you train your students about the ins and outs of food allergies and intolerances as they are becoming more common, and thus special diets will be more in demand. It would behoove any well...
  16. Idon't know if they are celiac related, but I have heard that if you put duct tape over them and leave it for a week or so, they will come right off. I think it's something about they type of adhesive in duct tape that kills the virus that causes warts.
  17. Some friends of mine went to Little Cayman Brac a few years ago. They loved it. They said it wasn't a tourist trap, there wasn't anything to do except lie in the sun, swim, and eat. It wasn't crowded at all. As a matter of fact, they were advised against it by their travel agent because she said it was boring. Sounds like just what the doctor ordered.
  18. Yolo, it was you who told me about sals, and I will be forever grateful! I think it was a couple of weeks ago on another thread where I gave you the credit for helping me. I was hoping you would see it so you would know I haven't forgotten your help. So, thanks again! Another great thing about this forum is the friends I have made. Some of you (you...
  19. It's all of the things you have said above, but for me it was also the knowledgable people here who helped me track down my other intolerances. I had never even heard of salicylates, but with the help of my friends here, I learned what they are, where they are found, and sure enough, sals were the missing piece of my own puzzle.
  20. I have multiple intolerances and they all cause my psoriasis to flare. My digestive symptoms were very mild. But after over 14 months of being gluten-free, I did get glutened by some cross contaminated rice. Now I know what the rest of you who have severe digestive symptoms have gone through. I NEVER want to go through that again! I live alone and don...
  21. I checked into it, and other high lectin foods don't bother me. I have concluded it is the salicylates in corn that bother me. I know for certain that I am salicylate sensitive. Corn STARCH is low in sals, so I guess that's why I can eat corn starch but not corn meal.
  22. I don't care for BRM all-purpose. It didn't make me sick but it tastes really "bean-y".
  23. It sure sounds to me that you either have celiac or gluten intolerance. It will take a while for you to heal and start really feeling better. Some of us see results right away only to have setbacks a few weeks in. Some of us develop other intolerances to things like dairy, corn, soy, and other things. You also have to be very careful about cross contamination...
  24. MSG is bad. A lot of people react to it. But spicy food can be really bad when you are not healed too. It happened to me with some organic bison hot dogs when I was a few months in. They tasted SO good, but a few hours later I had to go home and spend some time with the "porceline god". As a matter of fact, I didn't know which way to turn if you get my drift...
  25. Wow. I'm so sorry to hear about this. I wish I had some answers for you but I don't. She MIGHT have celiac, but it sounds like there are other things going on too. I think they might be on the right track, thinking it might be a tick bite. A couple of years ago a friend of mine suffered from the same symptoms you describe. She too almost died. She was...
