  1. I like this page for listing flours and how to mix them. Open Original Shared Link
  2. ...and you need a thorough thyroid screening. Free t3/4, tsh, tpo ab.... Because celiac mimics other AI diseases or accompanies them. Thyroid is one of the most common, and your symptoms match up. And you aren't alone, and you are looking for a solution. You're doing the right things. Find a new doctor if this one wont run the tests. There are also online...
  3. I think I saw something about dermagraphia and throat swelling/itching??? I was googling.... And as far as the gluten reaction....oh no, that most definitely can be gluten. It has hit me like a punch in the stomach, and I have had it so bad I wanted to pass out (and thought I would). And I'm not the only one. In the first 6-18 months your body will go...
  4. I did a funny thing with pizza crust. I accidentally put half the normal amount of water in it....and it was wonderful. I do not use rice flour -I use sorghum, potato starch, tapioca starch. Anyway, I love thin pizza crust and that's what I got. Finally. As far as breads and texture go I'm of no help. I toast the crap out of gluten-free bread. But if you...
  5. If the mastocytosis you're referring to is the rash that pops up after gluten exposure I would first consider gluten induced dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis or unfortunately dermatitis herpetiformis. I personally seem to have dh and dyshidrotic eczema. Thrilling. For examples of how weirdly this stuff works.... My eczema doesn't seem to be triggered by gluten...
  6. I tried it a long time ago. Try using powdered sugar?
  7. I noticed the cookie mix is very sensitive to the temperature of the butter. It must be solid and the batter firm. Refrigerate it if it isn't. I turn my oven up apx. 10-25 degrees making those cookies. I think it's the altitude that makes me cook my stuff at higher temps, not lower. Ive tested my oven temp and it claims its spot on. I've only cooked gluten...
  8. Many celiacs or those with gluten sensitivity have various skin conditions. Autoimmune diseases are associated with, and are sometimes skin diseases. That said, I don't think demographic urticaria is considered an autoimmune disease. There is a celiac rash called dermatitis herpetiformis, characterized by a fluid-filled itchy lesion and rash. It looks different...
  9. I assume you've talked about these labs with a doctor??
  10. If you're concerned about cc in your oils try calling your coconut oil/flour manufacturer and ask if they are processed in a shared facility. Same with any nut oil/flour. I have a hunch coconut will be manufactured more on gluten-free lines than the others. Just a feeling i have.
  11. I don't know, I wasn't gluten-free when I was pg. Can you pinpoint of its a particular flavor that makes you sick, when eating the gluten-free baked goods? I ask because I was very sensitive to sugar/sweets in the first trimester. So, a biscuit was great but not a whole grain or sweet biscuit (whole grain tasted sweet to me)..... Milk also made me sick...
  12. Vegetables and lean protein. It ain't sexy but it works.
  13. There's plenty of info out there about hypoglycemia. Sometimes it is indicative of prediabetic - if your glucose is spiking (which is where the meter comes in) and other blood work lines up. I improved my control greatly by starting an exercise routine. Lean muscle mass helps maintain control. It is challenging starting a routine, because of balancing...
  14. I think Cetaphil lists gluten-free on their site, and not all products are gluten-free. I think most laundry soaps are ok. I use all free and clear liquid. I don't know above dove shampoo or conditioner. Check the website or call?
  15. I use Dove unscented bar soap in the shower, and dr. Bronner's liquid soap in reused soft soap pumps at the sink (diluted with water). I use Cascade in the dishwasher and Dawn liquid dish soap, and Bon Ami powder scrub. To clean bathrooms I use Clorox's "green" line )can't remember the name) and baking soda as scrub. Shampoo - lots of people use suave...
  16. Yeah. Threaten to cut them. Maybe putting a red mark on the lid would be nicer? Hi Bart!!
  17. I know it isn't the same, but chocolate pudding is super easy to make from scratch. Tons of recipes on the Internet and 95% are gluten-free. Maybe if you let him have whipped cream or sprinkles on it??? I know, it's the box....as far as regular jello goes I believe Knox is gluten-free and you can add fruit juice as flavor.
  18. I got back high iodine foods (egg yolks, potato, asparagus, dairy, sea fish, etc) after my DH cleared. Weaned back on them slowly. Took about 4-5 months total. Can have more sugar now that adrenals have improved: that includes fruit and processed sugar. Drastically reduced it for months. Have discovered sugar delivered with starch/grain is not good...
  19. I do understand. I could write a book about all the doctors I've tried. Most of us are in that same boat. I guess, my fear for her situation, is that in desperation she'll settle for band-aids, not what will help her correct the problem, long-term. And many times we get on meds that are really hard to get off of, and they mask the real issue. I do...
  20. You really, really need someone knowledgeable about thyroid. Thyroid=brain fog, confusion, depression. If you can find one, a naturapath with a scientific background - like a RN/ND. I personally see one that was an RN, now in an ND and teaches at a major medical school in the nursing department. You need someone who will address the autoimmune cycle that...
  21. I like jeans, hate shopping for them. Loathe pants in general (shopping). Short waisted, hourglass figure. You do the math on how many pants fit me. So far Gap Curvy is the only one I find in stores that covers my butt and doesn't gap in the crotch. If I dress up, it's a skirt. Don't seem to have a problem finding shorts....not easy but I can do...
  22. Some days bars like Kind+ are just too sweet for me. And too sweet upsets my stomach. That's just me, though. And then it's virus season....so hopefully it was just the bar and coffee...
  23. On the beginning we were a zero gluten house except beer. Fine, since its in a bottle. Then I added gluteny hamburger buns/hot dog buns since they really disliked the gluten-free ones. That caused quite a bit of contention because we all had to be very careful...no crumbs, dipping into jars, I had to be served first and I couldn't have seconds....
  24. Has anyone here been dx'ed with DH and lupus? I was looking for rashes triggered by autoimmune flares...and this came up: Open Original Shared Link Which made me wonder about people who have rashes occur long after DH seems to have cleared. Some pics I've seen of what is labeled as a lupus rash looks like some DH rashes. Confusing. But then again...
  25. I'm just glad they're going to start testing. Maybe I can eat some of their chocolate nut products again (since they're made in mixed lines).
