  1. Looked for them today, didn't see them. May be worth ordering....
  2. I had one charge for it when all I was doing was picking them up to take to a gi. Forced me into an appointment. I don't see her anymore. I always ask to get the lab sheet, run labs, then get results at next visit for my thyroid...so I get the lab sheet at the Dec. visit for May's test. Make sense? If its any consolation MD's pull the same crap. I'd...
  3. I've noticed some household solutions have scents on steroids. As in it takes 5 washings to get the smell out. If ever. So I don't necessarily think your washing machine is a cc machine. I think some scents are nuclear grade. That said, depending on the machine (age, type) it can do it's job better or worse. I wash our bathroom and kitchen towels on...
  4. I've noticed I can't eat sweets made with gluten-free grains, in any volume. One slice a cake for two days, fine. More than that - I start to feel bad (belly, blood sugar, cravings). I can eat coconut/almond/full fat dairy sweets in a higher volume for longer without cravings, bloating, blood sugar issues. They also hit the "stop eating" button in my brain...
  5. I had numerous tsh and prolactin tests years ago, while ttc. All normal. But immediately after childbirth went into a thyroid tailspin. I know, in retrospect, I was starting issues but it just wasn't showing up on labs. You should ask for thyroid, prolactin, and hormone tests. Something's going on there. It's normal for periods to vary, even when you're...
  6. I don't know the technical term for it (in absence of a virus, other intolerance) but sometimes going gluten-free seems to strip away your body's equilibrium. Kind of like ripping the scab off an infected wound and when exposed to air, and pressure relieved...puss and other nasties start oozing out and it hurts likes a sob. And then you've got to cure...
  7. You get tested for the presence of thyroid antibodies. Have you discussed this with your doctor? Celiac indicates regular testing for thyroid disease, a family history increases your risk. Yes, please get tested. I do understand the ups and downs it can cause. When I was dx'ed with Hashis I was in a pretty dark place. The meds help me tremendously...
  8. I started reacting to cosmetics I had used for years - which had gluten in them. Swelling and itching. They had wheat germ oil and or oat oil (no gluten-free but who knows). I stopped using them and haven't retried them...because of the gluten. I did react very badly to a shampoo that's supposed to be gluten-free, also...but I've always had a picky scalp...
  9. I painted the side of hubby's car pink after wine tasting reds. Yeah. Tolerance just went away. Overnight. It's better now but after a year I have a two drink limit. I was generally a lightweight, but rarely a sick one. I could literally shoot half a bottle if tequila, not get sick, not have a hangover. Now I am a two margarita girl (or sip two shots...
  10. That's not good news. You need an exterminator. They'd do an invasion in the dry months in AZ. It was clearly a food/water thing.
  11. I only had luck with putting Terro (I think that's the brand) outdoor baits outside the house and essentially "bribing" them to eat outside. The baits were borax/sugar water. I put a whole box out near where they came in. Refill regularly. The interior baits only encouraged them to eat inside... And caulking helps, but if they are deteimed to find water...
  12. And I don't know if featherlight has xanthan in it, but Pamela's generally does. So consider you may have been using a lot of xanthan. And if you like the way it was mixing the two flour mixes, it will be difficult to replicate. I've learned to make my own mix to substitute in for gluteny recipes - and it comes out how it comes out. I also use lots...
  13. I use sorghum, potato starch, tapioca starch. I hate rice flours except sweet rice for rouxs. Anyway, they say 1/3 of each - sorghum, potato, tapioca; however, that chalky powdery taste is from too much starch...so decrease your starch a bit and add more sorghum. It is is different in every recipe. I start with taking it down 1/4c at a time. The other...
  14. Also, doctors are terrible at dx'ing hypoglycemia. Really, they are. Unless you bottom out on one of the diabetes fasting glucose tests where they take two/three draws they won't catch it. They look at hba1c which an average, which doesn't show the swings that plague many hypos. When you show up with bg charts, meals, symptoms, etc. showing when...
  15. My allergies greatly improved. And, when I needed to take allergy meds, they worked. They didn't work before. And it took tiny amounts to get relief. That said, Cedar/juniper season (which is NOW), seems to still kick my butt. But at least the medicine works.
  16. Perhaps a good masseuse (acupressure) and/or acupuncture until you can get off gluten? That may allow you take less pain meds? I swear this dx process is barbaric. They've got to find another testing method.
  17. You should also read the DH forum for tips.
  18. I would stop anything out of bulk bins. Scoops get mixed, bins rotated in and out (and you don't know what the cleaning process is).
  19. If you can do it every few days how about a scalp massage with a pure oil like almond, jojoba...? I'd think the biggest thing would be to not use styling agents, shampoos or conditioners that irritate it. And I have no idea what that would be for you.
  20. I use parchment paper for most baking but this needed to mold to the deep dish so I used foil. I haven't gotten to the point of allowing gluten (except prepacked sushi) in the fridge. I do have one bag of gluteny hot dog buns in the freezer and double Ziplocked them. Founds my son eating gluteny valentine candy then sticking his finger in my gluten...
  21. Sounds like you need to reseason it....
  22. An immediate rash from touching gluten sounds more like an allergy than DH. I can touch gluten without a rash. I do gave itchy/swelling reactions to some topical items that may/may not contain gluten .... So I have allergies to some things, but the rash I get is from eating gluten (unless I play in desert plants, but that's a different rash). You can...
  23. Id start with ensuring your hair products are gluten free and don't irritate your scalp for any other reason. Even though topical gluten isn't supposed to cause DH, many of us find better results when we do. It's difficult to moisturize the scalp (compared to an arm) but I found my DH needed lotion a few times a day. I used Vanicream. In short, be nice...
  24. Well, it's great news. And if you notice that rash is less when she avoids carageenan that may be a hint the rash is DH. Carageenan is high in iodine and quite a few DH people find it flares on a high iodine (or even normal) diet.
  25. I think you should make her a deal. You'll eat a bite of gluteny food if she eats a bite of arsenic. Sounds square to me.
