  1. It's normal to struggle from time to time when recovering from a glutening. I've had it bother me anywhere from a month to a day. I don't know why it varies - perhaps the volume consumed? Perhaps one time it set off an AI reaction? Digestive enzymes with meals, probiotics, antacids, whatever it takes. Working out/exercise helps me (sort of like sweating...
  2. Autoimmune disease, if you haven't dealt with it prior to a Celiac dx, can be difficult to get your head around. There are two aspects to Celiac, IMO. The obvious food related impact (what you eat, impact of eating what you shouldn't); then there's the autoimmune response....which means gluten is damaging your body: potentially all over - all tissues, all...
  3. It took me at least 9 months to have any sort of predictable bathroom themes. And another six to notice it stopped at 9. And another 6 to not panic when things would change from time to time. I'm not saying to discount what you notice at all - but it did take me a while. And if you get sick at any point in there ...things can just get weird. Sometimes you...
  4. Antihistimines can dehydrate you - which can cause c. And some people get wired or sleepy on the "D" part. And of course, if you're newly gluten-free and healing anything can set you off. Seriously. I wouldn't have been surprised if I sprouted a second head.
  5. I wonder if you're one of those that's I test negative but still benefit? And as far as adrenals go, an md probably wouldn't test appropriately unless you are at Addison's. you can order saliva testing to measure adrenals, cortisol, hormones, etc. no doc needed.
  6. Adelaide, do you have a thyroid problem? I'm on my phone and can't see signatures.... My thyroid, untreated, have me terrible insomnia. I've also found I have a "sweet spot" for bedtime. If I push it past 10:30 I'm up til 1. It's like a second wind kicks in and I'm wired. What about your adrenals? In know lots of people pooh pooh adrenals (insist they...
  7. I sincerely hope this isn't a recurrence. That said, keep on swinging.
  8. It's no different (im simplifying greatly here) than the link between hypothyroidism and depression symptoms that miraculously disappear when the thyroid is treated. This is a documented effect...perhaps using it as an example would help explain? For some Celiacs, I swear it's like our bodies convert healthy food to junk food. Why, how...I don't know but...
  9. Look on the DH board. I think it's generic walgreen's brand - whatever it is. I would use ice packs when it was at the worst. Helped reduce swelling and pain and itch. Vaseline would stick to the skin when it was cracking and weeping. I hated that stage. Hurt to move.
  10. Oatmeal never helped mine, but that doesn't mean it doesn't help you. I used generic Aveeno packets as a body scrub - I'd pour it on my hand and scrub all over. For years. Go figure. I've never heard of a certified gluten-free oat cosmetic product. Anyway, to stop the itching the best thing for me was ice packs. I use Vanicream and it works miracles as...
  11. Have you discussed Raynauds Disease with your doctor? Open Original Shared Link And the interesting thing about antihistimines is that they can suppress autoimmune as well as allergic responses. So, if I'm in an AI spiral I will take Claritin every other day for a while. It helps pull me out. Of course, it isn't advisable to stay on antihistimines to...

  13. I think I've seen obvious suspicious floury substance a few times on a belt. I admit to noticing now. I use plastic produce bags now when before I used reusable. Hate it but I'd need dozens of reusables and I know that wont happen. I'm picky about screening what goes in my cart, and I wash my hands immediately when getting in. If I saw something suspicious...
  14. Try a cooked icing. Won't matter if its powdered or not.
  15. Elimination diets are the best way to figure out sensitivities and allergies. Methodologies vary. I'd pick the top allergens and figure out diets to systematically eliminate one or more at a time. They say at least 4 weeks per allergen.
  16. Just stop taking it and see what happens. That's what the doc will tell you to do, most likely. Probably some blood work. When I've had reactions to meds they always say stop taking it, not much after that. In this case if the symptoms go away after you stop at least you'll know the dapsone is doing it and can ask for alternatives.
  17. You need to contact your doc ASAP. Dapsone can have severe side effects.... There are some alternative therapies you can try.
  18. It does take time. And for me, believe it or not, I needed an exercise routine. It's hard to get going but my healing sped up alot after I started a routine. Bodies need to move.
  19. For me it's the pinkies...but I get general inflammation. My legs started hurting, feet too. When the exhaustion receded I urinated a lot, swelling went down, feet bones popped back into place...them my pinkie started hurting. I used to have more hand pain prior to gluten-free and starting an exercise routine. I'm on NatureThroid right now. I've been on...
  20. Is coconut out? What about beans? There are recipes using black beans/white beans to make cake. Here's a recipe...have no idea if its any good... Open Original Shared Link
  21. Well, that was harrowing. I'm glad you're home, doing better, and especially that you had that epi pen!
  22. I have had sore pinkies off and on. Right now, on... I have a sneaking suspicion I'm on the tail end of a Hashimotos episode. Two-three weeks ago I was super energized, followed by super exhausted. I'm thinking thyroid. I've had terrible fasciitis, also, that resolved almost immediately when starting thyroid meds. I wonder if your meds need adjusting...
  23. But a whole chicken, cut it in half. Marinade briefly in lemon, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper. Grill or oven roast around 325 til cooked. Use the chicken all week in various dishes: tacos, salads, etc., or freeze and take out later.
  24. At a certain point, excluding an alternative credible diagnosis, you've got to just go gluten-free and see what happens. You've got to read about how celiac testing can come up falsely negative, see how it may apply to you...and then do what you need to do to get healthy. Honestly, family and friends will do what they'll do, regardless of what a doctor...
  25. I noticed swimming in chlorine pools made my rash hurt and burn...and the bathing suit rubbed in it, too.
