  1. One thing you do want to be careful of, is do they make their corn shells themselves. Lots of nice mexican places make their own shells, and then deep fry them to make them crunchy
  2. It is Gluten Free that is. Thought I would confirm that. For those interested, the drug is called Gleevec, it was originally developed for Leukemia.
  3. I was just thinking this a few weeks ago. I have a "syndrome" that can only be held at bay by one drug(ok, they have found chemo therapy and steroids can work too...great). This drug, not only is extreamly expensive($3000+ for one month before insurance), but if I stop taking it, I can relapse and get really sick again. Only one company makes it. I was so...
  4. Interesting. I was on tons of meds this summer due to my open heart surgery, and subsequent complications. I had checked on every drug, generics. The only drug I was talking that had gluten in it was one called Zofran... by non other than Glaxo Smith Kline. It really sucked as in the hospital, I got the IV version, no gluten. It was great. It basically makes...
  5. Their cinnamon raisin bread is super too. I bake most everything my self, so I don't buy it that much, mainly the price. But it is definitely better than I can make. At least for loaf breads.
  6. I tried emailing TGI Fridays once.. This was their response. I don't think they really understood it. They told me to look at the amount of carbs on their Atkins menu.... begin quote " As healthy eating continues to diversify, T.G.I. Friday’s restaurants understand that people have different nutritional desires. Although I do not have the recipe or i...
  7. Oh yeah. What I love about the gluten-free pantry, is you can order with case discounts. Its my favorite way to order some things. Especially things that really do last, like Tinkyada pasta. Yes, other places have discounts on multiple item purchases some times. What I like about here, is you really get the "case", meaning, my tinkyada pasta comes in the...
  8. I'm a big fan of the Gluten Free Panty Blueberry Muffin/Pancake mix. I've never tried making the pancakes, as I am no fan of pancakes in general, but the muffins work out nice. As with anything gluten-free I bake, i.e. bread like things. I always add a teaspoon or so of honey. I find it makes pizza crusts and bread a bit more golden colored. <Open Original...
  9. If you have powdered sugar, and milk, you can make the frosting. I used to make the cream frosting all the time. Dang I can't remeber exactly, I think it was just powdered sugar and milk. I was probably 8 years old when I was making that, my Mom had showed me, and I decided that putting frosting on everything I ate was a good idea.
  10. People can probably mail it to you on here. But I figure its easy enough just to go straight to the source. Open Original Shared Link You'll need to register and make a log in. But then you can always grab it when needed and updated. Actually, I think you can just grab them as guest, don't know, already have all my login stuff. Just go to messages...
  11. I find my reading of these messaging boards late at night can be bad. As every once in a while I learn about something new that sounds really good. Then I get all fully awake and hungry. Many a times have I ended up at 3am, cruising out to grocery stores qwesting for that new product.
  12. Lately, I've been hammering every restaraunt around here, chains especially, for gluten-free info. Hopeing they all figure us out, and how many there are. Anyways, here is the official reply from The cheesecake factory. Now, if I could just get "The Old Spagetti Factory" to give me gluten-free noodles, I would fall over... Ok, here goes the reply, I...
  13. Buying grains in bulk can be a bad idea. Big chance of cross contamination where people can use the wrong scoop. I've never tried it, I'm too afraid.
  14. My beloved Hormel company makes a few canned products that are gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link Hormel Chunk Meats: Ham Amoung most of the others, this is gluten-free, I've used a variety of these chunked canned items, as it can be helpful to have a can of chicken or turkey available, when making some type of soup, and then you realize you...
  15. Oh man. Does anybody rember Coke BEFORE New Coke? Before they went to New Coke, they used cane sugar. Then, when everyone hated New Coke, they switched back to the old Coke formula, except it use Corn Syrup instead. I had moved to England for a number of years, they still use Cane Sugar in the Coke there. Compare a can between both, and the Cane Sugar...
  16. I broke down last week and ordered some of the Mi-Del and the Glutano oreo type cookies. I liked the Mi-Del a bit more. Liked them both. The Mi-Del were a bit hard, but then I left the package open for a few days, and am not running my humidifier right now, so that tends to try things out pretty well.
  17. I know Progresso's Cream of Mushroom is gluten-free. I have about 5 cans of it down stairs. I like to try it up as a sauce on meatballs, and throw it on top of some boiled or baked potatoes. Not really a fan of mushrooms, but this was a recipe my Mom had always made, and its gluten-free
  18. Cool, thanks. I know more now. Actually, I have to ask my Mom now to see if she knows what a roux is.
  19. Yes, hops is gluten free. Its one of those wonderful ingredients in beer. Put asside the other "bad" ingredients in beer. Hops is like a plant, its not really a grain. Probably more inline with like lettetuce or other leafy things. Open Original Shared Link Some info on the above... the smell of hops is really nice, or some like it. Thats usually...
  20. I just had to run downstairs to my kitchen as I knew I had some. The website is Open Original Shared Link The Premier Japan Teriyaki ust says "Wheat free" but looking at all the ingredients it should be fine. They list the gluten-free products here. Open Original Shared Link Note, I was extreamly excited to get an email from a semi-fast food...
  21. MSG, Monosodium glutamate is gluten-free. Its not really good for you. So its generally good to avod.
  22. Ok... I have to ask this. I cook alot, grew up cooking and figured I knew alot about things... What the heck is a roux? :>
  23. Ok. So I went to their web site, Open Original Shared Link They have all sorts of stuff saying, "we have Gluten Free Beer", and a list of their beers. But I can't figure out what beer is Gluten Free. Surely they all aren't, every single one of them says it contains Malt... Anyone try this beer before? Just trying to figure out which beer they sell that...
  24. One thing to be careful with the Progresso... I noticed this once. I've always bought the Chicken and Wild Rice, I think I remeber looking at the Chicken and White Rice, and seeeing it had wheat in it. I know that their current selling Chicken and Wild Rice is gluten-free.
  25. I'll bet I know how he feels. Until I started treatment for the real problem I was having(called Hyper-Eosinophilia, side effect was really horrible hives). I would have days where I was just covered in hives. Literally, like about 80 percent of my arms, chest were "hived" Those bad days, the Benedryl + Zyrtec + heavy coatings of Cortizone 10 made it just...
