  1. Mahee, it probably depends on when you bought. The old ones are gluten free and the new ones are not. That sure limits the choices for lazy people like me.
  2. I stay at the Mirage and generally never leave the hotel. There is a great new restaurant in the Mirage called STACK. I stopped and saw the General Manager and the Manager and explained my diet. Because I also have a dairy allergy, they went out and bought a gluten free margarine that they could cook my dinner in. They also make a fantastic tomato soup...
  3. Hi Deborah, You have really put your heart and soul into this. Here it is almost 1:00 and I am trying to find the energy to do more then wash a load of towels. I play at the computer when I get this tired. Those extra rooms we would get comped will probably be given to the speakers we have. I think we have to provide them with a free trip as...
  4. He already replied on the original McD's fries thread. He also gave us the text of his article. He was hoping that the printed edition of the WSJ would pick it up, which I see today that it did. Congratulations of getting him to notice us. He signed in as a member to let us know.
  5. I ate at Applebee's about a year ago. All the manager could find that was not pre-seasoned was a salmon steak, which I had. He told me the next time to bring my own baked potatoe and they would microwave it for me. I screwed up on the tossed salad and forgot to have them leave off the cheese and I got glutened from that. I figure they use that pre-pkg...
  6. That is the only soda I have in the house. It is safe as I called Pepsi when I was first diagnosed. ENJOY.
  7. I get my Fresh lemon curd from Stonewall kitchen. They have a list with everything that HAS gluten in it (via phone call). If it is not on that list, then it is gluten free. They have a website and an 800 phone number. I get some items from there to cook with and they are very nice to deal with.
  8. I am lucky in that I can eat gluten-free products that are made in a plant where wheat flour is. I also know within 4 bites that I have ingested gluten and so I can now pinpoint the item with accuracy. I feel unwell for a couple of days and then I feel better for a day or two and then the stomach pains and heartburn start all over. I seesaw back and forth...
  9. Both of our cruises were on Celebrity and we went to the Eastern Carribean on one and to the Western on the other. I thought that the Eastern was the best for off shore excusions. I got some great photo shots on that cruise. The Western we hit the Mexican sea ports and we did a tour of the Talum ruins and also did Key West. It was nice, but I think there...
  10. I went on Celebrity twice many years ago and we were so happy with everything. Our room and bathroom were great. And the food was top notch. I have no idea if it is the same now. I would love to do this, but would hope for 2008 and then maybe I would have the energy to fly to the cruise and really enjoy it. My husband says no more cruises, but I think...
  11. I think you should call the office manager for your dentist and insist that they check on the products that will be used AND that the gloves are gluten-free. At my first visit to the dentist after my diagnosis I mentioned it to my dentist and he started to google for information. I really did not think about the dentist stuff having gluten. I had my teeth...
  12. I was only able to carry one child to term. The two pregancy's after her, resulted in miscarriages. The first at about 7 weeks and the second one at 6 months. The last one was the hardest to bear emotionally. This was almost 40 years ago and I had never even heard of Celiac. And yes there is a big possibility of this being a result of celiac disease...
  13. We have three within a reasonable driving time. The closest one I only used once and never went back. I did not get glutened, but they had a hard time finding the gluten-free menu's, then the manager had to help our waitress. It really made me nervous and I was not totally relaxed eating dinner. The one in Scottsdale is my favorite. We were there about...
  14. MY prayers are on their way. I am so sorry for your Mom, you and your family. Please keep us informed.
  15. I stopped drinking for almost a year so that my body could heel. And also I was really afraid of drinking the wrong thing . I really don't drink often and then usually only one drink and two at the most (very seldom). I have switched from Rum, which I knew was safe to Jack Daniel's Black Label with coke and I know that is fine. With wines I try and...
  16. David, I wish also to thank you for getting an honest answer from McDonalds and for writing such a wonderful article. It is hard enough to live a normal life and try to regain our health, without a major food corporation lieing to us. We trusted them. Thank you again for being our voice.
  17. I cannot believe how dumb I can be at times. I noticed AGAIN that the next to last posting was not published and so I click on the mouse and publish it. Now my last blog is further down the line. I think I did this once before. I hate when I do something like this without thinking it through. My vision has been really bad on and off today. When it...

    ARCHIVED Time/warner Ceo

You can also count me in. I will email you within the next couple of days.
  19. Oh, hah, I forgot that it was in the oil. I asked why do you use oil with gluten in it. She said some pat answer about the seasonings. She found me frustrating. I said it is not possible to fry gluten out and she then mentioned - again - supplier said, nutritionist said and lawyers said. You noticed the lawyers! I then said that their research and...
  20. Oakbrook corporate just called me back and said that the ff receipe has not changed, but they now list it to comply with the 2006 law. That they still consider them gluten free because one of their suppliers says the gluten gets par fried out. Someone several threads back posted this same information. Will if I can par fry the gluten out - what temp. is...
  21. I was so upset last night after reading this thread, that I woke my husband up to vent. He also thought it was terrible. All this time I thought it was safe to stop at McDonalds and order a lettuce wrap hamburger and fries. It was always my ace for when we would take short trips - there is always a McDonalds somewhere. Yes, they now have to disclose wheat...
  22. I love the Glutino vanilla filled cookies and I get them at my local health food store. I order my bread, cinnimon rolls, etc. from Kinnikinnick in Canada. I place my order on line at their website. It is the best bread I have found and I love my tunafish sandwiches again. They charge a flat shipping charge of $10 up to a $200 order. They send the items...
  23. Michelle I would like to cover how our marriage surrvied the 30+ years of being treated like a hypochondriac. How I always feared that my husband would believe the doctors and not me. His feedback would be the truth as he saw it at the time of each illness - whether I was really sick or it was just in my head. I have never asked him and now I will. Our...
  24. I always buy from B&N, but this time I bought from Amazon because it was cheaper. I ordered two as I want one to loan out and I also got free shipping because I was over $25.00
  25. I am German on my Maternal side and German, English and Czech on my Paternal side. There is an interesting story about my Maternal grandmother. She told us (all the cousins and her children) that she had been born on the side that was East German. That was the nearest she would get to the real truth. Then one of my cousins started doing research on a...
