ARCHIVED Severe Migaraine
darlindeb25 replied to tummietroubles's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Not all Bath & Body Works products contain wheat germ oil. I use their White Tea and Ginger, it has avacado oil and almond oil--it doesnt bother me at all. I also use their Sweet Pea. I had severe reactions to their Moonlight Path. Never use a product without reading the ingredients. Deb -
I know that McDonalds have dedicated fryers, they only do the fries and hashbrowns in those fryers and the other things in the other fryers. Sometimes its just the fact you are eating fried foods. I have gotten away from fried foods and I know fries would bother me now, just for that fact. Deb

ARCHIVED Warning - Revival Soy
darlindeb25 replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hmmmmmmmm, could be cross-contamination or might you be sensitive to soy. That soy bar would make me ill for 3 weeks or longer. I can have soy lecithin and a little soy oil, but that bar would have made me so ill. Very little corn for me either. Deb -
ARCHIVED Interesting Reactions To gluten-free Diet
darlindeb25 replied to CMCM's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It also can be the toxins still leaving your body. Start taking vitamins now--make sure they are gluten free. We celiacs do not absorb vitamins well--you need to start fixing your body now that you have the poisons leaving. I'm happy for you, it's great you are feeling better so quickly. I have a friend in Florida who would report to us in hours----hour... -
ARCHIVED Damage From Intolerance Only?
darlindeb25 replied to Sk8ing's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sk8ing--listen to yourself and realize, even you know you can never have gluten. You say you felt so much better over time. I have never had a diagnosis--my sister and father do--what are my odds? The doctor I am seeing now told me that even without a diagnosis, he is 99% sure I am a celiac. He is going to try and help me with my other issues that stemmed... -
ARCHIVED Response From Loreal On Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well Bean--you may be wrong. Some say gluten can be absorbed through the skin and some say it can't. The "cans" are the ones I worry about--I dont take chances. Open Original Shared Link This about touching it: Open Original Shared Link Then there are some of us who break out in hives when it touches our skin--so... -
ARCHIVED Response From Loreal On Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Garnier Nutrisse and have never been glutened--I have used Herbal Essence with no problem too. Deb -
Yes Gina--there has been a lot of condemning of McDonalds lately in the forum. One place is no better then another--it all depends on who is putting your order together and how well they listen. It's like Kevsmom said--sometimes at the last minute the person realizes you asked for no bun--they dont realize why you asked for no bun, so they just remove it...

ARCHIVED Depression
darlindeb25 replied to Maureen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow, do I feel like a bad mom right now. My 4th son, from a small child would throw himself on the floor and say, "No one loves me!" He was angry often and sad a lot too. He had learning disablities in school, ADD and often would just give up on things. I just figured the temper was a part of him, I knew the learning disabilities were a problem and I... -
ARCHIVED Are There Any Other Celiacs That Are Overweight?
darlindeb25 replied to Jules's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I dont know about professional help hun--you just need to start concentrating on the good things about knowing that you are gluten intolerant. I feel it is so much better to know what is wrong with me then to be going through life thinking its all in my head. When people at work bring things in, I just smile and say, no thanks! Patients bring us donuts... -
Some McDonalds dont know what they are doing just as some employees at PFChangs dont know. It's not fair to condemn all McDonalds just because you have had a bad experience. I have never had a problem at McDonalds and my sister has had trouble at PFChangs and Outback. My son has a celiac mother and aunt--he knows about gluten and he manages a McDonalds...

ARCHIVED Bufferin 325mg
darlindeb25 replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Excedrin has a non caffeine version. I'm sorry, its not a book so to speak! It's a tested listing from the Wheaton Celiac Support Group in Chicago. I would love to have a listing from this area because we have different products in our stores here. I do need an updated list too, this is from Sept 2004. I do know that Excedrin is gluten free. Have you... -
ARCHIVED Are There Any Other Celiacs That Are Overweight?
darlindeb25 replied to Jules's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I too am one of the overweight celiacs, my sister was one of the ones who got so very thin. When going gluten free, she gained and I lost. I lost 60# in the beginning and felt so much better. Gluten free flours are so much heavier and more calories. I eat lots of rice and I guess I need to cut back on that too. I have gained some of the weight back and... -
I am 50 and my sister is 47--we both have celiacs disease and have been gluten free now for over 4 yrs. Our father has been gluten free now for just over a year and he is 71. My daughter is coming to visit with me in a few weeks, she is 23 and says she is going to eat gluten free with me to see if it helps her at all. My dad has had stomach trouble for...

ARCHIVED Ear Problems? Dizziness?
darlindeb25 replied to PicturePerfect's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
All gave you very good advice--I do know that low blood pressure can cause dizziness. Have you checked everything you use--you may be getting a minimal amount of gluten--vitamins, shampoos, lotions, soaps, a daily med you may be taking??????????????? I get dizzy when standing too close to someone and I look up to them--my sweetie always keeps and arm around... -
ARCHIVED Bufferin 325mg
darlindeb25 replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My book says all Bufferin, except 325mg tabs are gluten free--so I guess you shouldnt take it----I use Excedrin Migraine or Tension. Advil Gelcaps, Aleve, and Tylenol. Deb -
My sister finally figured out she had celiacs on her own. She went to her doctor and told him she wanted a scope done and testing for celiacs. He says, "You dont have it, but we will do the testing to be sure." That doctor appologized to her over and over. He was shocked to see the damage that had been done to her villi and he admitted that he had been...

ARCHIVED What Do You Think?
darlindeb25 replied to menwall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Colin--a celiac is not allergy to gluten, we are intolerant--an allergist probably will not find this. I know this sounds very confusing and it is somewhat. Just as a dietician usually has no idea how to teach us about gluten. Read everything you can--eventually you will understand so much more. I wish you luck in finding out what is wrong with you--it... -
ARCHIVED I Hate You, Mcdonalds
darlindeb25 replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree, I dont think it was the decaf coffee that made you ill, but I have no idea what else you may of had throughout the day that may have contained gluten or maybe something else you cant tolerate now. Could be so many things. I know I have never had a problem with McDonald's fries or hashbrowns. My son is a manager of McDonald's and I know they are... -
Last week, Kal, the doctor I work for, asked me what do I get to eat for Thanksgiving. He says, "Can you have pumpkin pie?" I told him that we can but that I have to make it myself, I cant have regular pie crust and that yes, we can have most turkeys, and yes, mashed potatoes and on and on. Well, come to find out, they buy all of us pies for Thanksgiving...

ARCHIVED Non-celiac Spouses Please Advise
darlindeb25 replied to hapi2bgf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Maybe he is having a hard time adjusting too, I dont know. Now my sweetie is the opposite. He inquires at different places if they have anything gluten free. He is on the road everyday for work in our area and he always tells me of a sign he saw stating gluten free somewhere. He did a job at a jewish bakery and asked the guy if he knew anything about... -
ARCHIVED I Hate You, Mcdonalds
darlindeb25 replied to lorka150's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Richard and I will never agree on this, but I know for a fact that flavored coffee's quite often do CONTAIN GLUTEN! I was reading the different flavored teas the other day from the company that claims gluten-free, Celestial Seasonings, and they stated on the box, this tea is not gluten free, this tea may contain gluten. A good many of the flavored coffees... -
ARCHIVED Vitamins..essential Or Not?
darlindeb25 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I take Nature Made Woman +50 with iron, a good B complex, Calcium, and B12 1000mcg sublingual every day. I did have the depression, anxiety, panic attacks--that is all gone now, most of it. I also have the tingling with burning, but that is due to the neuropathy I developed because of being deficient in all vitamins and minerals before going gluten free...
