  4. Ed, I am sorry that you are going through this discomfort. You have said that you were diagnosed, can you expand on that?
  5. Nicole: I don't know if I can be of help, but I can bump it up for you. There is soy milk and Smart Balance Butter Spread that it dairy free. It is available in most grocery stores. If I can find it here, it can be found anywhere. Do a search here on this site as "Dairy Free" and see what you come up with, and, as surely others will post. But...
  6. All Colleges are are required to meet your dietary need, under the Disabilities Act. Choose the best for your educational needs and they will work with you. There are several college age people that regularly post and I am sure that they can supply you with their information sources. Don't let your diet hold you back from your college or university...
  7. Holy Cow!!! It's about time you showed up. We were all worried when you left us with some unsettling news. Now fuss is over. I am not sure, but scraping the bone so that it would be smooth to that is could fuse together and mend itself. Lister, there is medical finances available for those who are not able to pay. I know we have medical...
  8. Patti: They are being pulled off the market today as of the 5 o'clock news. You're on top of things. Lisa
  9. Geoff: I have been gluten free since August 06 and seemed to slowly improve. Arriving to the point that I felt good, things started to bother me again. I have gone dairy light and it seems to be better. I don't drink milk, but do have some yogurt and a little ice cream. I do get some very loose poop, but no other sympstoms like the nasty gluten symptoms...
  10. Yes, it is gluten free.
  11. I had some yesterday and the usual 24 hours later BAM! Cross and Blackwell are owned by Smuckers. I call and they cannot guarantee gluten free, but will list wheat, duh. It did list worcestershire sauce on the label, and I think it doubtful that the brand they used would be Lea and Perrins. Aside from any one with a gluten free confirmation, I would...
  12. I would simply say "for personal reasons"....no explaination needed.
  13. ahhh, no And down and out tonight. I couldn't make it home from a 1/2 hour drive without stopping twice. Gluten free is easy compared to dairy free. Sometimes, well, lots of times, I feel that I just don't have the energy to go dairy free. I poured my heart and soul into learning about gluten free. I just don't know if I can duplicate the diligence...
  14. Hey Heather, Your doctors suggestion that you son has "some degree of celiac", is evidence that she has no clue. How did she come to that conclusion. There is no "some degree of celiac", you have it or you do not. The only ways to determine the amount of damage done by celiac is to do an endoscopy exam to see visually and take biopsy samples. What...
  15. Dove products are generally gluten free. Not into the gels and mouse, so I can't advise. Do a search here on shampoos, there is a great data base of previously ask questions. Welcome to the forum
  16. Naw...the worst part is the worry. I would do it again in a minute without concern. In my experience, they gave me an IV and I was out cold. I woke up, with seemed to be seconds and I was in the recovery room. The doctor came in to talk to both of us (me and hubby), and I have no recollection of the conversation. I had a bit of a sore throut, but...
  17. Last time we heard from him, he was concerned because his girlfriend was diagnosed with HIV. That was the last we heard from him. For those that don't know, he is a young man on his own and struggling with celiac and other issues. I think about him often. I sure wish that he would return and post.
  18. Jacqui: That's great that you did that. I wish more would do that so they would have a updates listing. Thanks for your efforts.
  19. I just re-read your previous posts about your son. He, being eight years old, and me being in my early 50's most likely will improve faster that an adult. I would assume that being on the restricted diet, that you should seem improvements soon. He has total villi blunting and that may take some time. Once the villi heal, you should see his other symptoms...
  20. Ryan, I am so sorry that Alex is having such a hard time. It sounds like the hospital is the place she needs to be. Bringing something from home, like the soup, is a good idea. Could be be there during meal time to make sure every thing is fine? Alex is very lucky to have someone as devoted as you. I hope the improves soon.
  21. Speaking of movies......how about a subscription to Netflix. You order one, return it and pick out another one.

  23. Okay, okay - tail between my legs. I stand corrected.
  24. Not to hyjack here, but.... I used to make my own BBQ sauce, but Sweet Baby Ray's is the best I have ever had. Try.. Boneless Chic Thighs, add one can of Swansons Chic Broth, cover chicken with scallions (not green onions) and drizzel SBR's over chicken and onions. Cover for 20min, uncover for 20min, or until done. It is so darn good, with rice...
