ARCHIVED Newby Here With Some Question
Lisa replied to nik-ed's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nicki I am not sure if any of this is pertinent to celiac, but I would recommend to your dentist that you inform him on your condition. You may need an antibiotic, or some teeth cleaning and you might suggest that they use non powdered gloves when they do their work. I don't know exactly what they are powders with, but any power stuff makes me a little... -
ARCHIVED Chapstick Brand
Lisa replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is not the sharing the chapstick that is making you sick, it is the chapstick itself. Regular and medicated are not gluten free. Hope the will help you solve the problem. I have traded in my cherrished chapstick for berts bee's honey lip balm. I have forgotten my chapstick and now love my berts if not more. -

ARCHIVED Oceanspray Grape Drink
Lisa replied to SueC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't expect that it contains gluten, but to be on the safe side, I would e-mail the company. I just checked mine and it does list natural flavors. I would think that it would be ok, but I try to make a habit of not recommeding unless I am 100% sure. I would drink it. I buy it for my college daughter who usually wipes out my pantry when she comes home... -

Lisa replied to chrissy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I always enjoyed cooking and this was an added challenge, but a no-brainer. No problems here. It is just a lot of research and good information.........and it just took about six months to get my act together. So all the newbies out there, just know that it takes some time to learn that you can live a normal life. Seek out your local restaurants and... -
Lollie: I am getting into a field that I am not sure about. Tiffany is the expert in this field. This is my thoughts after taking to my doctor yesterday. The brain is a VERY complicated organ. If your brain is starved through lack of food to the brain, some of that will never be regained. That depends on the length of malnourisment to the brain...

When ever I go out of town, I take a cooler with me. In that cooler, I have my gluten-free soy sauce, my own salad dressing and my book (Gluten Free Bible) that has pages in different languages that I can show the chef what my dietary issues are. I will in the quick future get the "Trump Dinning Cards" that do the same, althought they are in pocket form...

Lisa replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
How about herring roe or shad roe, rolled in corn bread and fried until they pop all over the stove, dipped in katchup. Good and rich and tastes very healthy, except the frying.
