ARCHIVED A Bit Of Market Research...
2Boys4Me replied to elye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, right now my 7 year old is the only gluten-free one in our family and he never wants to try crackers or cookies (other than homemade cookies). I'd say I'd like samples. I don't want to spend $5 for a teeny-tiny box of cookies that end up tasting like sawdust and going in the garbage. Today after hockey someone was handing out doughnuts, and he very... -
Well thank YOU Tiffany. It's nice to be included in that group of very helpful people. I was just thinking last week that I hadn't seen any posts from you lately. I'm glad you've passed your anniversary. It's a good feeling. I remember when we passed Ty's one year. It seems like so long ago. I hope you have a happy holiday and I hope your husband can...

Susan, what kind of dogs are the dingoes? I used to have a blue heeler/terrier cross who I thought was beautiful and people who saw him and Ask'm together would tell my husband, "Oh what a beautiful dog!...(then looking at me and Scout) Your dog is interesting, too." People thought he was dingoey. He had the same ears as your dogs. A few weeks ago... -

That's exactly the conversation the nurse had with Walker when he came in to meet Ty when Ty was born. It was especially funny because he was only three years old, but you could tell he wanted to roll his eyes and say, "Jeez lady. What's wrong with you?" The Y key. It's next to the "any" key. -

Sorry Lisa, can't help you out. I'll try to remember to check my binder of lists tomorrow (I'm at work). Do you know if they are a subsidiary of another company? If there's an 800# give them a quick call tomorrow. -

I'm going to hijack this thread briefly to say that years ago when my husband got his dog (a long and hysterical story in itself) he went home with the pup and told his mom he was naming the dog Angus (after Angus Young) and his mom vetoed it reminding him of the name he'd always said he'd name a dog....Ask'm. What's your dog's name? (shrug) Ask... -

ARCHIVED Worcheshire Sauce (sp Is Wrong, I Know.....)
2Boys4Me replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Karen, I haven't found a gluten-free worcestershire in Canada yet, but Lorka150 can get Edward's and Sons. I think she is in Ontario as well. I make this one. It's smelly to make (boiling vinegar, ick!) but tastes all right. Homemade Worcestershire Sauce 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons water 1 tablespoon brown... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Flours That Make You Sick....
2Boys4Me replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sorry I can't help you out. I never buy Bob's Red Mill flours because they are so freaking expensive compared to the flours and starches I can get in the Asian section of the grocery store. I get sweet rice flour, white rice flour, corn flour, cornstarch and tapioca starch from the regular grocery. I get potato starch from the Asian market, and sorghum, brown... -
Yummy! Thanks for posting those. I'll have to try the jam filled ones. Maybe I can squeeze a batch in the next few days.

ARCHIVED Gingerbread Emergency For School
2Boys4Me replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks for the heads up on Duncan Hines, Jillian. As I said there was nothing suspicious on the label so it struck me as odd when he said there was gluten in it, and odder yet when he couldn't identify the gluten containing ingredient. I have never seen Pillsbury pre-made icing here. Usually I make my own anyway. A friend at hockey practice tonight said she... -

Julie, do you think this recipe might work? I got this recipe from another forum and I've made the crescent rolls a couple of times. They are really good. _______________________ MrsP's Yeast Rolls (gluten free) 1 packet yeast 1/8 cup warm water 3/4 cups lukewarm milk (scald then cool) 1/8 cup sugar 3/4 tsp salt 1 egg 3 Tbs shortening ... -
ARCHIVED Gingerbread Emergency For School
2Boys4Me replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This is taken directly from Open Original Shared Link (A tip...when you're rolling it out use some sweet rice flour/rice flour/cornstarch/something/anything to keep it from sticking. I tried rolling it between two pieces of waxed paper and it was a mess. That piece turned out looking kind of icky. The other two came out nice and smooth because I rolled... -
ARCHIVED Pre-season Nhl Game..flames Vs. Panthers
2Boys4Me replied to num1habsfan's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I live in Calgary and can't even afford to go to a game here. It's ridiculous! We were watching Flames vs. Ducks last night and they ran a promo: 4 tickets, 4 Pepsis, 4 hot dogs for $46. You couldn't even buy 2 hot dogs and pops at the Saddledome for that price. Okay, I'm exaggerating, but you would never get 4 seats in the nosebleeds for that price even... -
ARCHIVED Need A Good Cracker Recipe!
2Boys4Me replied to mommyhugz's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Welcome to the board. Bette Hagman's The Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread has recipes for Rice-itz (fake Ritz), Mock Hi-Ho Crackers (I don't know what those are), Sesame Wafers, Cheese Nips, and Graham Crackers (pgs 252-258). The graham crackers were pretty good...but use less cinnamon. She wants you to use too much. At the end of the cookbook is a list... -
ARCHIVED Meringue Powder
2Boys4Me replied to purplemom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ha Ha. I'm in the same situation. I've never heard of this stuff but I have to try to find it today. The recipe I had said it was possible to use egg whites, but not recommended because they'll be raw and that's not so good if you're going to eat it. Confectioner's sugar is the same as icing sugar, right? -
ARCHIVED Gingerbread Emergency For School
2Boys4Me replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks everyone. I found a recipe for gingerbread houses that uses Pamela's Amazing bread mix. I have a package that is pretty close to the expiry/best before date, so I'll use that. I'm off to bake it right now. Then I have to look for meringue powder (which I've never heard of) to make the icing. I'm glad I read this before I tried a gingersnap recipe... -
ARCHIVED Chocholate Chip Question
2Boys4Me replied to zachsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wouldn't the malt be in the ingredient list? Just not in a "may contain"? I mean if it contains malt, then shouldn't malt be somewhere in the ingredient list?
