  1. The issue of carmel coloring seems to come up frequently. My understanding is that carmel color in the US is safe. It may or may not be safe if the carmel color is in a product not produced in the US. Most soft drinks are gluten-free as another poster pointed out. Hez
  2. There are several people on this board that have had cc issues with Frito-Lay products. I think your gut is your best guide, if they make you sick do not eat them again! I hope you feel better soon. Hez

    ARCHIVED Boston Market?

My understanding of the new labeling law is that it does NOT apply to resturants or their suppliers. Hez
  4. I love Mountain High Yogurt. It says gluten-free on the package. It is lower in sugar than most national brands. There are several different flavors as well as plain and vanilla. It is all natural but I am not sure if it is orgainic. I get mine at King Soopers aka Kroger. Hez
  5. Welcome to the board! It is my understanding that carmel color in the US is safe. Carmel color outside the US may or may not be gluten-free. I do not worry aobut carmel color. As far as vinegar goes I feel it is safe. Distilled vinegars are made by a distilation process. This process does not allow gluten particles to pass through, the protein...

    ARCHIVED Village Inn?

I have been there but it was prior to dx. It is like a Denny's or IHOP so I would be careful. Maybe sticking with eggs and bacon? Sorry I could not be of more help. Let us know about your experience! Hez

    ARCHIVED B-day Party

I am kicking myself for not calling the mom to make sure the invite made it home. I phoned several weeks ago to see if the date was good and it was. My guess is that he forgot to show mom the invite. Lesson learned. Hez
  8. Just feeling like I need to vent. It is so hard to see you ds sad! He is having a sleepover party for his birthday. We allowed him to invite two friends. Only one showed up! I am sure it is a simple matter of miss communication. But it is hard to see this happen to your kid. Luckily they seem to be having fun. It just seems that nothing in parenting...
  9. Fresh fruit and vegies, gluten-free pretzels, gluten-free snack bars (lara bars, glutino fruit bars, bumble bars), gluten-free crackers and cheese, peanut butter gluten-free cracker "sandwhiches", nuts and chips. It is a difficult mind set to work around not relying on sandwhiches. It takes thinking out of the box. Something I am not good at! Hez
  10. Feelings are not right or wrong, they just are. It is okay to feel angry and sad. I think those feelings are understandable given what you have gone through. Hez
  11. I use the Jennie-O turkey sausage, it is safe. I always read the label! I think because it is turkey the sausage is not as "strong" as other sausages. But we love it for pasta. Hez
  12. I use Oretga all the time with no issue. Could you be reacting to something else? Hope you feel better soon. Hez
  13. ditto Hez
  14. I recently contacted carmex regarding their lip balm- it is safe. Hez
  15. I think both Capri Suns and gogurts are safe in the us. I think they are both made by Kraft. Kraft is a company that will clearly label wheat, barley, rye. Just read the label to see if the Kraft product is safe. Hez Welcome to the board!
  16. I use Amy's products without issue. However, there are those that have been glutened by them. I think it will come down to how comfortable you are using their products. Hez
  17. I would love to have frozen dinner rolls! However, I am not sure I would buy from a company that produced gluten bread on the same line. The risk of cross contamination would be too high for me. Hez
  18. Hi Jennifer, I have been to Durango prior to dx. I really can not remember any large chains there. I remember eating at small Mom and Pop type places. I wish I knew of something. Are you going through Denver? You could pick up some gluten-free goodies to take to Durango. Hez
  19. I do eat oats sometimes. However, I only eat oats from the gluten free oats company. Why? Because I know they have not been cc and have been tested. I stay away from oats in any other fashion. Which would include mainstream cereals that contain oats. When doctors and other professionals talk about oats I am not sure if they realize the cc issues....
  20. In the past I have tried www.glutenfreeoats.com and not had problems. However, I talked to my doctor before trying them. Hez

    ARCHIVED Houston

Thank you so much for your help! Hez
  22. I have been sick since before Christmas. I now have a doctor appointment at the end of this month. I just can't take feeling this bad all the time. Usually, it takes me a full month to feel back up to 100%. However, I have had what I think might be slight cc and the "d" lastet a couple of days. I really wish I knew what made me so sick! It was...
  23. I have Maker's Mark and have not had a problem. I think I got that off of a list on this site? Hez
  24. For me it took over 6 months until I could tell a noticable difference. By a year I felt great. If I do get glutened accidently (this is usually from cross contamination) it takes me a month to feel back to normal. Everyone is different and everybody's healing time will vary. Just wanted to share mine. Stay gluten-free and you will feel better, I just...
  25. I have heard of two different groups working on a pill for celiac. One is Alba and another is a group at Stanford. I do not remember any of the details (so typical) but I remember they are very different. I am sure you can find more info on this site regarding these two possible therapies. However, I do not think either one is meant to "cure" celiac....
