  1. The elevated Ttg could be related to another autoimmune disorder (not common, but possible), so requesting the full panel to include DGP and the EMA, might help you to form a diagnosis since you can not afford the endoscopy. The DGP is also considered better for dietary compliance. It would be helpful to have a good baseline for future comparisons. I...
  2. You only need one positive on the complete celiac panel.
  3. Whoa! That is a positive (TTG IgA) for celiac for your daughter. The next step is usually to obtain biopsies via an endoscopy. The other posters were talking about Just IgA alone. For celiac testing, this test is used as a control test to see if the TTG IgA is working. Used alone the IGA test cchecks for an IgA deficiency as gluten-free in DC stated...
  4. I am sorry that your child is sick. Nice to have a picture (I am not a doctor) but it looks like there was redness and inflammation on the first and then a nice pink, but what did the pathologist report indicate? What was the Marsh rating? My own endoscopy on the visual looked normal per my GI. I had to wait for my pathologist report that came a...
  5. I heard her Ted Talk. Only good can come out of eating whole natural foods. Let's face it, we eat way too many processed foods. Just curious, how are your celiac antibody levels?
  6. My bet as a non-medical person, is that you are suffering from anxiety. Bet your antibodies are still elevated. You might be one of the many celiacs who takes a year or more for antibodies to come down. Do you have a six month check-up scheduled with your GI to be tested for antibodies and deficiencies? This helps to determine of you are adhering to the...
  7. My rant. I assume you are going to stay on gluten for 12 weeks and eat as much as you can in order to get a positive celiac blood panel? Is that the goal? As you know, symptoms do not always correlate with this disease. Symptoms change. celiac disease has been described as a chameleon because of this inconsistency in symptoms. Otherwise, I think...
  8. It is probably common. Research shows that 1 in 130 (or so) of the population has celiac disease. MOST are undiagnosed. Because symptoms vary from person to person, it is hard for doctors to diagnose. Testing is best, but it would be expensive to test everyone. By the time it is caught, most damage is moderate to severe. But the gut heals FAST. It...
  9. I agree that allergies or food intolerances can cause fatigue (so can untreatd celiac disease). I ate some gluten-free Challah bread from a gluten-free bakery yesterday (it was heavenly), but it made me sick (not hubby). Zapped once again by Xanthan Gum! I guess this intolerance is never going away. I take comfort and assume the risks because it lasts...
  10. Do you have celiac disease? If so, look to your diet for hidden gluten exposures or have your thyroid checked. Hard to provide advice with so little information.
  11. I agree with Ennis!
  12. Are you sure you do not have celiac disease? Did you just get the screening TTG IgA? I ask because i test positive only to the DGP IgA. The TTG is good, but does not catch all celiacs. Learn more: Open Original Shared Link Oh, some people test negative to the blood tests. And some people test negative because they are already on a gluten-free...
  13. I think i am doing well, but long time member, Peter, was re-checked at 5 years (biopsy) and he had complete intestinal healing. Those that do not heal? Research shows that a big chunk of them are still gettting exposed to gluten (either by choice or cross contamination).
  14. While it is great to become informd about celiac disease, it may not be a good idea when you are still recovering -- especially when you are anxious. Stop Googling about the disease. Instead Google about the gluten-free diet and tips in becoming successful in mastering and maintaining your new diet. MS is not strongly linked to celiac disease. TD...
  15. I second all that Karen said. Graciously thank your client (and he will reamin your client). Now, go buy a box of See's for yourself. ☺️
  16. My biopsies revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe damage). Yet my endoscopy was normal. No signs even of inflammation. So, you have to wait for the pathologist to review the tissue samples. If negative, consider the gluten-free diet. Gluten could be the cause of your symptoms -- just no intestinal damage.
  17. Hi Vycki! I think a gluten-free diet is an excellent idea. My MIL had MS. I think she probably had issues with gluten (her son certainly does), but doctor's were not testing for celiac disease or even thinking about gluten sensitivity. The biggest concern is ingesting gluten and cross contamination is a big issue. So, oils are gluten-free...
  18. Use the oat as long as they are whole and not ground into flour. I assume the balance of the dough will be gluten-free flour. You just have to worry about inhaling and swallowing small particles. That is why it is best not to be in a room with wheat flour. I keep a bin of gluten-free kitchen stuff at my parent's house. I use my Mom's pots, pans...
  19. I too, have Hashi's and I was anemic when diagnosed. I was shocked. I had no noticeable gut issues at the time. My anemia resolved with a gluten-free iron supplement in just a few months. I hope you feel better soon!
  20. It looks (no ranges provided) like have two positives (TTG and EMA) on the celiac panel (I think you made a typo on the "TTA". The IGA serum (in the case of celiac testing) is just a control test to see if the TTG IGA test is valid. With two positives it is unlikely that your Hashi's is creating a false negative. A biopsy is the next step (sounds...
  21. Well, it could make her sick but not because of gluten. She might have issues/ intolerances with all the nitrates and perservatives in SPAM (that stuff could probably survive a nuclear war, hence it is in my earthquake kit). How long has she been gluten free? A newbie might not fare well with SPAM because her gut would still be damaged. Then i would focus...

    ARCHIVED Help

Welcome! Anxiety and depression are some of the many symptoms of celiac disease. With healing you may see some improvement. Many who go gluten free do experience withdrawl-like symptom for the first few weeks. Remember celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder flares-up (attacks the body) and the trigger is gluten (unlike other AI disorders like...
  23. As someone who has done market research for a living your request seems strange to me. First, asking for private information really does not and should not impact research results. Second, unless you are a fifth grader (and we do not know really how old you are), you would use a simple survey website like (Survey Monkey) to handle your survey and tabulate...
  24. Diane, have you researched Mast Cell Activation Syndrome? It is like an allergy, but not. It is a relatively "new" disorder, but one of our old members, Jebby, has it and she is a premie baby doctor, so it is real! Open Original Shared Link
