  1. Are you Corn intolerant? I know regular salt has Corn in it. I use sea salt.
  2. I don't know about everyone eles, my house isn't gluten-free, But I am Celiac When I use a cookie sheet for cooking I put foil over it. I am going to get my own soon. But until then it is foil lined. I was told Cookie sheets can hold Gluten. I was also told old Wooden spoons can hold Gluten. Good luck! How sweet everyone id going gluten-free for her! Thats...
  3. Well eating out and eating at anyones house of course you can get CC'd , I think even at another Celiacs house you can be CC'd some are not as tight as others when it comes to CC'd , I went to my Daughters house and she was having a gluten-free pizza and a regular Pizza, I could not eat the gluten-free pizza anyway it had soy and corn. But I was watching...
  4. When I react it is similar to being really really drunk. When I don't drink, I am on the floor retching for hrs. the next day I have absolutley no energy! I don't necessarily feel neck pain or havn't noticed because I have pain all over. It is so horrid a feeling! I do not eat at anyones house, unless I take food and pan and cook it myself. I usually bring...
  5. I just want to say. I have found out Soy is a problem with me. Evidently Soy is very CC'd with Gluten because of the equipment shared. I was CC'd with it a few months ago. You may want to look into that. It is so hard to figure all this out! After a while (It depends on the person) you may be able to get Lactose and corn and stuff back. I am afraid I will...
  6. I have not taken that. I just want to say welcome I do know alot of people have a problem with Cross Contamination (CC) so that may be your problem. Just seems some can tolerate more than others. So sorry! I hope your ok. I am sure everyone will want to know more about you. How long you have been celiac. If your Celiac and how long. Any other intolerances...
  7. Ohh I so feel your pain! I went to a Reception last weekend could not eat a thing! I feel so bad because everyone asked me.I told them why! Don't hesitate to tell everyone! Teach them! I did eat before hand and hubbs did also. Lucky for me hubbs has got my back! I think you should eat beforehand and just grab a drink what ever or have a salad. CC could...
  8. Yea I was on FB one day and my daughters friend who has been Celiac for years, posted she was having a Miller Light. I said: um I don't think thats on your list of stuff to drink. She said yea I know, but I'm only having a couple. I just didn't know what eles to say, so I said nothing. But gave her a sad face ... She knows better!
  9. OmGosh finding your answers is wonderful! I am so excited for you! Whoo Hoo!! Specially after suffering for so long.
  10. I don't eat foods I don't prepare, only for reasons stated up above. I know your heart is in the right place, but if they are Celiac they may not eat them. They don't know if they will be CC'd .
  11. Not sure why a Celiac would go to a place called Macaroni Grill. You can call ahead of time and talk to a manager or chef. Let them kniw you react to CC and see if they can tighten up for you.
  12. In my opinion I would get the test. That way you would know for sure and not be tempted to have a lil here and there. My daughter goes on a gluten-free diet , then decides it's too expensive and goes off, then feels sick and goes back on it. Her Dr. will not give her the test. My suggestion is If you decide to not get the test, to be very strict on the diet...
  13. Aweee I hate it when babies are sick! I am so sorry for your problems and struggles! Lets hope this test brings them to an end! Your answers are with a negative test she could still be intolerant. Has she been eating Gluten this whole time? If no than the test can be negative. the 2 question is everyone eles can eat Gluten because they are not sensitive to...
  14. Wow !! So sorry to hear you had a rough time. I don't ask if I can bring anything I just do it. I eat only what I bring. This is what I don't understand. People find out they have Celiac or are intolerant, They clean their cupboards , get new pots and pans. Get a gluten-free kitchen so they don't have to worry about stuff. Then they go eat at someones house...
  15. I have special bowls for the dog and cats. I don't let them eat out of our dishes. We buy heavy duty crocks. They won't blow away and are reusable. But I don't think Gluten is good for dogs and cats anyway! There are alot of brands out there Gluten free or grain free.
  16. I agree with cyclinglady it will be different for everyone.I am calling myself lactose intolerant, but I can eat some cheese , for some reason it is more butter that bothers me than cheese. So I clarify it I can eat the clarified with absolutely no problem. But I think you are not giving your self enuf time to heal. Unless it wasn't the Lactose that bothered...
  17. My niece posted on FB about her broken leg not healing. They told her it's just not healing so she has to be in a cast longer. I told her she needed to be tested for Celiac. I wish my family was closer. They all live in Ca. I live in Mi. Gosh it bothers me my family is having so many problems yet I don't think any of them are getting tested for Celiac. I...
  18. Yes it includes vegetables in a plastic bag. I also make sure I wash my vegetables in mild soap and water because sometimes companies wash their fruits and vegetables with corn water. Don't ask me why? I read that here. Don't know where the link is. So I wash them gently in mild soapy water and rinse well. I buy Organic colored carrots I just wash them then...
  19. I know I was kinda the same way. I didn't cry tho. But I was upset about eating the same foods. And saying something to the waitresses and stuff. It becomes second nature. I ask for Gluten free menu but have to scrutinize it for corn products. My friends just accept it now. The way I got over the same foods is I use seasonings. Now my husband walks in the...
  20. I was eating FF at McDonalds one day as the kids were playing I decided to look up Mc Donalds FF And one site said they were NOT gluten-free because the use the same fryer for their hash browns. Their hash browns evidently are not gluten-free. French Fries: Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and...
  21. I know Corn was listed in the ing. I am not sure if Soy Lecithin was or not. I have since gave up chocolate Lol maybe one day I can have some
  22. This is a very interesting thread, I am Celiac and intolerant to Corn, Gas bloating the big"D" I think I can have some in very small amounts, but not HFCS . I am Lactose intolerant , I get the same way with Lactose I can eat some cheese and stuff but no milk. Or too much cheese. I am soy intolerant I don't even want a bite thank you anyway. I don't care if...
  23. I am also Corn intolerant! I don't eat anything pre packaged I eat only fresh Vegetables , fresh meat , and fresh Fruit! There is so much corn in everything. I was handed a Applesauce the other day, I almost opened it and was going to just eat it. But my inner self told me to look 1st. And sure enuf it has Corn Syrup. And it comes in so many different names...
  24. Nice article!! I Do know they help me! alot! If for some reason I forget to take them for a while I can tell!
  25. You poor thing! I cannot imagine having people around me not supporting me. I cannot imagine a parent not being supportive of their child. I guess you will just have to be as patient as you can be untill you move out.
