  1. My husband is like Richard and Vincent in regard to not being embarassed to buy certain personal products. Actually, if the cashier is a guy, I get kinda embarassed. Susan--I decided against any highlighting in light of the straightening. You're right--don't want to damage the mane. Not too much, anyway

  3. Hi Lauren I'm super sensitive so if the label says either 'made on the same equipment' or 'may contain traces of..' I won't go near it. There are a very few processed things that I'll eat--the only way to see if there will be a reaction to those is to try. For me (and this may not be true for others), most of the time I end up reacting.
  4. Hi Taffy, My hair was falling out in the year and a half before I was diagnosed. I actually had spots where you could see my scalp. I was also severly anemic, which is common in people with Celiac. I took suppliments, but because I wasn't absorbing correctly, they didn't do much good. When I had been gluten-free for about 4 months, my hair...
  5. My hair is actually in very good condition now--that's why I even considered it. She said I'll only need touch-ups about every 4 months or so and those will only be on the new growth--the rest of the hair will only have been processed once. It's also very important to not let the solution touch the scalp itself. I like your hair both ways--it's nice...
  6. I can get away with rice--but not more than about once or twice a month. Any more often, and it starts to bother me. I wish I could eat eggs--but they make me terribly nauseous. I usually just eat meat, fruit, veggies, almonds and potatoes. Oh, and some dark chocolate Writing it down makes it seem very restrictive, but in reality, I manage to...
  7. Yes, permanently straightened. Today, she blew it out and used the ceramic iron--the difference will be that the humidity won't affect it--once I blow it dry, it will stay smooth until I wash it again.
  8. I react to all the lectins, too--except potatoes, thankfully. I really have no idea how long it will be before I can eat any of them again. (or if) Some cause more severe reaction than others, some immediate, some delayed. That's why it's so hard to figure it all out. I plan to go at least a year at my present diet. I know my sensitivites are due to...
  9. I'm back from the new salon. I LOVE it there The woman who did my hair is (get this) named Patti AND has naturally curly hair! And did my hair in a private room I told her I was wanting to grow it out a little, and she shaped it really well. I did end up having the back cut so it would grow out more evenly. Anyway, her hair was shoulder-length...
  10. Congratulations!! What wonderful news Nausea is perfectly normal--and the pattern is very much individual. Every pregnancy is different. I had constant nausea with my first that lasted almost the whole 9 months (and it didn't help that he was 3 weeks late!). With the second, I had it for 12 weeks, and then it went away overnight. I'm glad...
  11. Yes Deb--I think it's a lovely thought. I live in the area, so I saw the information on the news this morning. The costs will be staggering ....
  12. Andrea and Vincent--stop it right now You both very much belong--these little gatherings wouldn't be the same without you two! How bout me??? I always feel like the ancient one
  13. Did you try a search here? I'm almost positive that I saw a post on them a while back.
  14. You'll have to let me know your "ice cream" recipe! We have just about the same exact intolerances, so I'm curious I look forward to seeing your kitties--mine is laying on the floor next to me right now. Ursula, your son looks like you! They are a nice looking couple A "DA" is a hairstyle from the 50's.
  15. Another question--how do you measure the almonds?
  16. I'm setting the Tivo because I'll probably forget....
  17. Sorry Mango
  18. Laura--I've been watching it--posting on commercials! You're right about the hair--no matter what, it looks good

  20. Ooh Armetta--I can't wait to see it! Have a nice lunch on Saturday!
  21. Yep--very wise!
  22. They use to sell it on late-night informercials back, I think, in the 80's. It's a hair clipper that you attach to your vaccum cleaner--no kidding
  23. Aw--that's so sweet! Flo-bee--I can't believe someone else remembers that!
  24. Well, you have to be comfortable with your choice. Probably the best thing to do would be to find a good salon/stylist. Maybe ask around. Then go in and discuss with him/her what you have in mind. A good stylist will make suggestions, but ultimately do what you want.
  25. That's right--hate them! I still say that you (Vincent, not Carla ) should go short. It's 2006--and you won't believe how easy and quick it will be in the mornings!
