  1. Hi everyone! Boy, were there a lot of posts since yesterday. Andrea, I hope your husband has a good Father's Day despite the prep--what unfortunate timing ! Judy, You are so sweet to worry about me! I'm fine, and will email you a little later. Rachel, I think that is interesting about your ex-boyfriend. I think our food here is either so highly processed...
  2. The way my card works is that I can get cash (no add'l charges) either while making a purchase anywhere, at the ATM machine at the bank (my bank has a ton of locations--it's everywhere) or at Wawa (a convenience store that is also on almost every corner here in NJ). Getting cash is really not a problem--if I know I'll need some, I'll usually just get it...
  3. Thanks Celia, I wanted to see if what I thought made sense to anyone else other than me! It's just strange to see things finally going in a positive direction for a change--I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop
  4. Your post wasn't pointless, Lisa! I think it is noteworthy anytime gluten/food intolerance is mentioned in the mainstream. How are you feeling? Any better?
  5. I was thinking about something today. I've been gluten-free for a year now (since 6/2/05). I'm pretty good at not getting gluten as I don't eat out (twice in the year) and do all the cooking/cleaning up in my kitchen. Since I figured out my intolerances, I've been feeling good. As I wrote earlier, I think I got glutened yesterday--I had the GI stuff-...
  6. Oh Rachel--an ATM card is the way to go! I use mine for absolutely everything. The only time I write a check is when I'm paying bills. I literally never have cash or a checkbook in my purse
  7. A baked (or microwaved) sweet potato with a little butter and cinnamon--easy on the stomach and yummy
  8. I don't know if I'm actually dehydrated, but my lips are almost always dry. (Not chapped or red, just dry) I know I don't drink enough water When glutened, it gets worse.
  9. Hi Donna--Love your picture, but *ouch!* about your ankle! Hope it heals quickly. Interesting how everyone (except me) had heard about problems with dried fruit.... Hi everyone--I think I was glutened yesterday by Assencia Pure Maple Syrup--Acme's own brand. I had been using it frequently over my fruit in tne morning. I was having symptoms in the...
  10. I use their onion powder all the time. They will list any gluten ingred. on the label. They are the only spices I use.
  11. I think for the liquid diet I was allowed jello (not red), apple juice, clear broth--things like that. I actually did not get bad cramping from the laxatives, but I could not be far from the bathroom for hours--even for a while after I finished taking everything, I would have to get up from bed and go. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in the bathroom!...
  12. Hi Becky--welcome to the board! You do not have to be anemic to have Celiac. Anemia is a common symptom, but it is certainly possible to have Celiac without it. People feel the effects of gluten anytime from immediately, to a day or so later--sometimes longer. It varies greatly from person to person. 20-30 minutes is not unusual at all. Doctors...
  13. Hi Bully for You--Mine went something like this: I had to get prescription filled for the laxative, and buy Dulcolax. Day before the test--that AM, mix up laxative (it came in a plastic jug, ready to be mixed w/water) put in fridge. Liquid diet that day until 3PM. At 3, begin taking 1 glass of laxative every 20 minutes for 5 hours. This was the hardest...
  14. Maybe someone from their company reads our board
  15. Hay Vincent--have a good, safe trip!
  16. Yea--I had a feeling you were talking about the hand washes--I almost bought one thinking it didn't have wheat--like the shower wash. I can't go shopping anymore without my reading glasses
  17. Hi Andrea--I was using the Jason Tea Tree Silkshower Bodywash--it has no gluten in it. What I like much better is this-- Open Original Shared Link It's a bar, but only has like 4 ingredients. My skin is sensitive, and I do better with non-detergent soaps.
  18. The strange thing is, the Stax don't agree with me--I think it's because of all the ingredients they use in them. I usually react to foods made in the same facility or on the same equipment as gluten, but these chips have never bothered me, and I eat them frequently. Just further proof that we're all different and react accordingly
  19. YEA!!! I'm glad you figured it out Now, I'm going to look for red-skinned potatoes and see if they make a difference for me!
  20. Lollie--Fibroids are different from ovarian cysts. With the cysts, we make one every month at ovulation. They normally go away after the egg is released. Sometimes, they can remain--this is called a functional cyst. I have them, mine are completely clear, and they are being watched. There are different types of ovarian cysts--it's important that your...
  21. Your mom is right, but I know where you're coming from I think because there is so little that we can safely have, when we find something good, we tend to over-do. I know I do! I know I thought dates would be the perfect fix for a sweet tooth (which I have)--but of course not, it would be too easy
  22. Hi Lollie--Cramps, heavy flow and clots can indicate fibroids. They are very common, and as they grow, and depending on their position can cause symptoms. Sometimes your doctor can feel them, but they will also show up on an ultrasound. You mentioned hormones--estrogen is what causes fibroids and is what is responsible for their growth--my GYN told me...
  23. Thanks for posting this--I'm not familiar with it, but I will be checking it out!
  24. Too funny, Judy!! I'm happy about the getting better part, though
