ARCHIVED Lack Of Menstral Cycle Before Being Diagnosed
i canary replied to Smooreberry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Me too! I went years without a period before going gluten free. I am going thru early menapause now. -
Couple of things are coming to mind. You may have an intolerance or allegric reaction to something in the mix. I'm not familiar with it. Look at the ingredients to see if you can isolate the problem. Or there may be a cross contamination issue. Is your household completely gluten-free? Could there been an accidental dose of gluten?

ARCHIVED No Diagnosis
i canary replied to PetaC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is no harm in trying to go gluten free. I would give it a try for several months. If you feel better without gluten then I would stick with it. If you don't then you need to look for other options. I didn't have a biopsy, but my bloodwork said I was celiac disease. Some of the doctors I've seen since then don't think much of my diagnosis... -
ARCHIVED How Did Your Thanksgiving Go?
i canary replied to lpellegr's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I had a wonderfully gluten free Thanksgiving. My mother cooked and made sure everything was okay for me. Had ham, corn, beans, cornbread, orange muffins and some kind of pie. -

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease: Not Just A Gi Problem
i canary replied to Sophiekins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you. I fit into set 1 and 3. I didn't realize that my clumsiness was really Celiac. I've been upset with my inability to use certain words because I just can't get my tongue around the sounds. I've gotten used to the world spinning when I lay down - I forgot it wasn't normal. My magic day of knowing it was all gluten was today thanks to you, Sophiekins... -
ARCHIVED Could All This Be Celiac?
i canary replied to morningstargirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Connie like you and Zansu I used to have big weight gain/losses too. I had three sizes of clothes in my closet. I would have to use a measuring tape each morning to know which set of clothes to choose from. Glad I'm done with those days. Going gluten free for a few months might be a good experience/experiment. Just keep in mind it isn't just food that... -
ARCHIVED Question About Family's Reaction To All This
i canary replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My mother lives with me and has many of the celiac disease symptoms, but will not try a truly gluten-free diet. She says she 72 and can get what she wants to. In the meantime her stomach gives her fits. Just don't understand her at all. She does eat my food with me, but she also has a stash of cookies, crackers and the like to eat. All of her gluten... -
ARCHIVED I Was Thinking What If We Had A Manners Book
i canary replied to i canary's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I like what you had to say Catherine. Wish more folks had the respect to let each individual decide for themself whether they are going to eat something or not. Nancy, I hadn't thought of talking about the food the cook made. It make sense that it puts them at ease. I've been so busy thinking of how to get out of there without getting sick that it didn... -

ARCHIVED I Was Thinking What If We Had A Manners Book
i canary posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was listening to NPR today and this guy who wrote a Holiday manners book got me wound up. There was one segment where he advises that even if it kills you eat it. If you want to hear for yourself it is the Morning Edition for Friday 11-17-2006. Anyway, it got me to thinking. What if we came up with our own manners book. Covering such topics as... -
ARCHIVED Do Any Biopsy-positive Celiacs Get Offended When Someone With
i canary replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed with blood work. I was way too sick to do the "gold standard." I don't worry about what anyone else says or thinks - I have celiac disease. I'm a totally different person now that I am gluten free. There is nothing out there that has gluten in it that could tempt me to eat it. The doctor that diagnosed me, closed her office in June... -
Jerseyangel has it right. The day before is the worst of it. I ended up with a book . If the result wasn't bad enough the taste of the liquid laxative was nasty, nasty. The procedure itself was a breeze. And once again Jerseyangel is right - have someone in the room with you when the doctor is talking because you aren't all there. I remember...

ARCHIVED How To Educate A New Dentist
i canary replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was going to say what JoeB said. My sister is allegric to latex - sounds like the same reaction to me. The dentist I went to checked everything. (Actually it was her wonderful assistant who did all the hard work). The only thing with gluten was the toothpaste stuff that they use to clean teeth. -

ARCHIVED Carrying On With Your Daily Life When You Feel Like Poo!
i canary replied to allison's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've worked at this particular job for 5 years. They knew me before I had to take off so many days. They have seen me struggle with feeling so crappy and trying to work. They know if I take off, then I'm really hurting and as long as everything is covered that needs covering there isn't a problem. I feel like a whiner a lot too. Deep down I know... -
ARCHIVED Carrying On With Your Daily Life When You Feel Like Poo!
i canary replied to allison's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I love my job, so I remind myself of that fact when I’m struggling to get going in the morning. I think about the cool aspects (never ever dwell on the negative side-otherwise I would just pull the covers over my head and never get up ) of my job. I think about what projects I'm working on and how I feel when I complete one. All that helps me get there. ... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia?
i canary replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can give you a personal experience: I was diagnosed with fibro 5 years ago. I was pretty much bedridden until I went gluten free. After three days of going gluten free I was out of bed and walking around. It was amazing. My pain levels decreased like 90%. By the way the doctor who diagnosed me didn't mention gluten or avoiding foods that cause pain... -
