ARCHIVED Both Kids Had Gi Follow Up Appts Today.....
wolfie replied to wolfie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks for your response!! I do hope that DS has been good. I can't see him "cheating" intentionally yet and he does get sick if he eats gluten, so hopefully as he goes into his teenage years that will remind him why it is important to follow the diet. We talk about poop in our house like that too. I was talking to our Ped GI one day on my cell... -

ARCHIVED Follow Up Appointment On Tuesday
wolfie replied to Emily Elizabeth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not sure about your test results, but I do believe that the EMA that is marked positive in your bloodwork is indicative of damage in your small intestine from gluten/Celiac. Also, it can take an adult up to 2 years to completely heal from the damage in the intestines. So 6 weeks is a very short period of time when you look at that. I know that for myself... -
ARCHIVED Both Kids Had Gi Follow Up Appts Today.....
wolfie posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
They are both doing well! I'll start with DS first. Since January, DS has grown 1 inch and gained 1 pound. He is doing well on the gluten-free diet and GI is going to run bloodwork to make sure that he isn't getting any gluten so that he continues to grow during this very important growing time. We will get his blood drawn tomorrow morning. DD has... -

ARCHIVED Butter On Potatoes At Outback
wolfie replied to pnltbox27's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I think I said in a post yesterday that my sweet potato came with butter on it and had to go back. The butter they put on the sweet potato is a honey butter or some kind of seasoned butter and I have been told by 2 different Outbacks that it is not gluten-free. So, they just brought me a new sweet potato with regular butter on the side. Sorry if I... -
Sorry to hear that!!! We went to Outback in Charlotte a week or so ago and ordered 3 gluten-free meals. Mine came out with the butter on the sweet potato (not gluten-free, which our server caught before I did) and my son's game out with fries on his plate. I was able to take the potato off and eat my food while they remade my potato, but my son had...

ARCHIVED Corn Tortilla Chips
wolfie replied to radgirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have found some tortilla chips do contain wheat or oat flour. I made sure to make DS aware b/c I had previously told him that they were almost always safe. I think the brand I saw at the store the other day with wheat was Conn's. Make sure to ask at restaurants and if they are unsure, I would pass. As far as your other suspicions, I would think that... -
I am sorry to hear that you suffered for so long!! I also went through at least 10 years of "IBS" issues before my dietician suggested that I be tested for Celiac. I don't wish that on anyone. I hope that you are doing better now on the gluten-free diet.
-
My son's Ped was the same way! He said that b/c my son didn't have any symptoms (though he did have occasional constipation, irritability and was being evaluated for ADD) he didn't see the need to test him. DS was also growing well and was in the 75th to 95th percentile. I finally brought some info in for him on kids with Celiac not necessarily having...

ARCHIVED Please Suggest Some "good Fat" Foods
wolfie replied to whattodo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What about nuts or peanut butter? You can get PB without sugar in it. Cheese is another good snack, in moderation. You could add olive oil to your veggies when cooking. Avocados are very healthy and full of good fats. -
Hi! There are several muffin recipes in this thread.... Open Original Shared Link I think the thread is titled "Kid friendly recipes" or something like that. Hope this helps!
