  1. Glad to hear you had a great dining experience. I was down Inner Harbor in July after John was to see his oncologist at Hopkins. I ddin't have a lot of time to look for something and we ended up getting fries. Hopefully when we go for his next appointment I will find something good.
  2. My mom has "D" all the time so if we are going shopping or anywhere she will not eat or drink. If we go to eat out, she won't have any coffee or drinks cause she says that is what causes her problems. She also sometimes blames herself for worrying. I love her to death but I know what her problem could be...gluten! She is 65 and I don't see her testing or...
  3. I am due to get mine off in a few months, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have that happen. I am a real freak about brushing. Did you have any of the spots where the brackets were?
  4. Some soy sauces are gluten-free but I have never come across them in my chinese places. I do know there are soy sauces in stores that you can purchase without gluten. Is this what you were asking? I am confused a bit.
  5. There are so many foods that are naturally gluten free so I can't see why people say the diet is unhealthy for non-celiacs. I do believe that our diet does lack some nutrients so as long as you are getting a balanced diet there shouldn't be a problem. If being gluten free is making you feel better all around, well thats enough of a reason to keep going...
  6. I can give you my pre-celiac history, I had left sided stomach pain which wore me out so I was either at work or in bed/on the couch. The diet was the only thing that helped me, pain relievers did nothing. I know it scary to hear this but I just wanted to help you a bit. What area of the stomach is your son having problems with? Constipation and Gas pain...
  7. Hi Annabelle, Welcome to the board! Like others have said it does get much better. The food has come a long way in the two years since I found out I had celiac. I am not sure where you are but if you can get your hands on some Tikyada pasta (I probably didn't spell it right though), some glutino pretzels, grainless baker products if you are in the Northeast...
  8. I can't say I am always fond of celiac but it has helped me become more healthy and I have learned a lot from having it in the two short years since I found out. How long have you had celiac? If this is the beginning for you, it does seem overwhelming, but it will get a lot better. As for gluten free food, I know this is hard to believe, since you have...
  9. I can't answer your questions, sorry, but I did want to say welcome to the board!!!!
  10. I used to get them all the time, and it was before I knew I had celiac. For the longest time, I blamed them on my wisdom teeth which were coming in crookedly, so I kept thinking the teeth were irratating the gums....turns out once I started the diet the sores went away....and I didn't get my wisdom teeth out for almost a year afterwards.
  11. Is this show seen in the US too? Either way I am glad you emailed them to get the correct information out. Giving the wrong information can hurt people who are just starting out or still in the testing phases. Good Job :)
  12. My sister just spent a month there, and although she is not celiac she did bring me back some pasta and let me tell you it is soo good! She said there were a lot of gluten-free options. Good Luck, I hear it is a very pretty country.
  13. I hope someone can recreate those...yummy! Thin Mints too!
  14. I have a cotton candy machine at my house and I just checked the box and it is just sugar, suagr. No wheats, but too much sugar does sometimes bother people.
  15. No snow here either...just cold, cold, and more cold. I am about ready to give up hope on snow for this year....
  16. Stef- Are you talking about the Alice Springs chicken?
  17. A celiac buddy of mine has raved about these toaster bags, I havent bought them yet, since we don't travel and I never ate toast before. When I want sandwichs at home I just toast in the oven.
  18. I would also send Rasins, and those tiny fruit cups, they come in lots of flavors now, the Enjoy Life cookies are good, and the EnviorKidz parts are great, I keep them in my desk at work.
  19. Welcome! You will find a lot of support and advice here, I know it has helped me.
  20. I have only ventured to Outback and Issacs and this cute little cafe in Cape May which serves gluten free pasta. I have heard well its only flour or have white bread too many times....not worth the frustration, once I get worked up it all goes down hill. Thankfully my hubby doesn't like to dine out as much so we usually make dinner and kick up with a movie...
  21. Hi Allyson!!! Welcome to the board, hope you find a lot of support and friends here!
  22. Stef-we are in the same area, I am in Harrisburg. Small world
  23. Don't feel bad in PA it is in the single digits and the wind chill puts us in the -'s. I have two blankets on and our thermostat is reading 72 but I still feel cold. I dread the morning walk to work from the parking lot to the hospital.....No skirts for me tomorrow
  24. I use the grainless baker sandwich bread. Very tasty.
