  1. Yes, you should bring her in. Check for the UTI, bladder infection, and Diabetes. Go ahead and "be that mom" who knows something's not right and does everything possible to take care of her children. A good Dr. should test for Diabetes for the connection to Celiac, for the symptoms being presented, and because untreated Diabetes in children goes from the...
  2. The doctor's e-mail was right on track with recent research. As far as baby's first foods, what foods and what age to introduce the food, that advice changes. My children were about three and half years apart and the advice was very different. The first child it was supposed to be introduced to the mixture of added rice cereal to formula or breastmilk...
  3. I read an article that was from a Celiac person's perspective on food additives. They mentioned a yellow food coloring had made them sick (in a yellow and blue make green colored food situation) and verified it was gluten from the label on the yellow food color. I personally have not found gluten in any food color. L.
  4. When you're an adult the wasted buttocks makes buying a pair of jeans a nightmare! I have belly fat but no but, If the jeans slip down from your belly, there's nothing to hold those pants on and down they will go. L.
  5. I have heard of them. They appear to be expensive and not readily available. L.
  6. I got sick from those too. Just like you said, I got the really hungry feeling first and then the "D". L.
  7. I just think the testing is just not accurate enough. If you have enough damage visible, and the medical professional can recognize it, then you can get diagnosed with Celiac. If not then you can get the murky title of gluten intolerant. So many people have noticed they have become more sensitive to gluten after they start the gluten free diet. I think...
  8. I had a reaction to the general mills neopets cereal, after three days of breakfast servings. L.
  9. Watch out! Those brownies are sooo good gluten eaters beg for them. L.
  10. Thank you for that link. I recently was dropped down on my thyroid medication. Have been recently retested and free T3, free T4, and Ultra sensitive TSH levels are all in a normal range. I have Hashimoto's. The problem is I'm getting more tired by the day and my hands and feet are so cold even my husband asked how I was still alive. Back to the doc's...
  11. It can take a long time to figure out gluten sensitivities because gluten is in so many processed foods. It reminds me of the saying if you want to hide a tree, put it in the forest. There are so many variables to the rate of digestion. (exercise, bulk matter of the food, amount of liquid in stomach) Don't feel bad you didn't figure out what a doctor...
  12. I'm glad you have your diagnoses. So many people here have had to endure so much before diagnoses, many who eventually ended up self diagnosing. We have heard of similar situations to yours. Welcome to the board! L.
  13. You could try joining a co-op, www.unitedbuyingclubs.com their price is in the latest catalouge has Amy's rice crust pizza at $6.18 each and you buy by the case of 8 for $49.44. Glutino has a pretty good single serve pizza 6.2 oz. $4.53 each $27.18 a case of 6. There are monthly sales. I feel that it saves money and hassle in the long run because I'm not...
  14. There is a religious exemption for mandatory vaccines. Any religious group may object to vaccines for any component, but I do think the main reason is human diploid cells. Concerned Catholics may refer to www.cogforlife.org/vaticanresponse.htm ;any other religious persons might request guidance from your organized religion leaders. L.
  15. There are some articles that explain wheat has an opiate type affect on certain persons. Opium is addictive, and these persons will suffer withdrawal symptoms when they go gluten free and/or casein free. L.
  16. The big push to get the world vaccinated against smallpox was because the vaccine was VERY reactive. We put people's lives in too much jeopardy to continue the vaccination process. Quarantine was also put in use with the vaccine some people's opinion was the quarantine was more important than the vaccine. The last case of small pox (that was vaccine induced...
  17. Water Aerobics! Start now, get toned up and increase your stamina. You can keep up the exercise while your pregnant and knowing that you are going to be in a bathing suit the whole pregnancy will keep you on a good healthy diet. If you have any furniture that is high or top heavy get rid of it or bolt it to the wall, by the time you would stop to think...
  18. Hey everyone here is all ready giving you the same advice I would. (Go talk to a church, any church, they will find a way to get some help.) I just want to say that I feel for you. You will be a much stronger person when you find your way through all these obstacles. I hope that you will find the best quality in the people around you. HUGS L.
  19. A great source of information is the gluten file, celiac3270 posted it a while back. Marcia, you will get to be a pro at this site soon. Laura
  20. Well about the ice cream cone she only expected to have to lick the ice cream and not eat the cone. She may never have been properly diagnosed, I found snippets about numerous miscarriages and she did develop colon cancer. L.
  21. If you hope to get an official diagnoses you have to EAT GLUTEN to have enough damage to show up for the tests. L.
  22. How strange, we were just talking about carrots today!!? My son seemed to have an intolerance to carrots. They would come right back up for the first introduction until he had been on the gluten free diet for about 2 years. He can now eat them raw. I don't know if that helps you. My opinion- If your gut is damaged you may have problems trying digest...
  23. I had actually watched an interview clip of a show about her, Audrey Hepburn. She was describing the desparation of trying to fight the director about eating any but a danish and the stomach pain and cramping afterward. It is also noteworthy that she died of colon cancer at relatively young age. L.
  24. Did Audrey Hepburn have Celiac? She was reported to have suffered malnourishment from war induced famine as a child. (During this time in history the famine actually helped determine the gluten was the problem for Celiacs) The scene from Breaksfast at Tiffany's was extremely difficult for her because she had to eat a danish. She begged and pleaded to...
  25. I tried to make them before and I was really disappointed. I have been buying the Glutino bagels since then. Remember if it's gluten free you better toast it. L.
