    ARCHIVED Pf Chang's

I am so sorry you had a bad server. P.F. Chang's even has a gluten free soy sauce. Some of the dinners on the gluten free menu do not come with the standard sauces because of soy sauce base. I never looked at the original menu for comparison. The chef who is working that night makes a huge difference too. Call and make sure they know about the situation...
  2. Someone answered that post in 11 minutes, and yes the original poster did have a later response. Sorry the moon cycle does seem to affect me.
  3. I think your daughter could definately still be healing but, check all of your hygeine products again. Do you have pets? Make sure pet food is out of reach. Playdough?

    ARCHIVED Pf Chang's

I love the spicey chicken and lettuce wraps! I have great experiences at P.F. Chang's. They also have a chocolate flourless torte, like you would still be hungry. LOL It comes with a sauce, be carefull because it can depend on the chef who makes the sauce if it's gluten free or not. Call ahead and check with the restaurant to make sure. I haven't tried...
  5. Perky O's just became available through the co-op I belong to. The introductory sale is 15% off. That works out to $3.19 a box or $19.12 for a case of 6, 10.4 ounce size. Do they taste good? Do kids really eat them?
  6. From the way I understood the articles, yes smoking in some way was masking the symptoms. Don't in any way think that I would ever promote smoking, but that seems to be a documented association.
  7. I have read some articles that say cigarette smoking also has an effect on Celiac disease. Smoking tends to lessen some of the symptoms and/or the symptoms started after the person quit smoking.
  8. A gluten challenge is starting the gluten free diet and then reintroducing gluten back to the diet, mostly done for testing.
  9. I have seen a child react to gluten on the skin. The child touched the table where play-doh was used an hour earlier and got a rash in about 15 minutes. The mother said it was a gluten reaction, so I knew it was the play-doh residue from the table.
  10. I highly suggest you invest in a pizza stone. Any pizza you try will start out a lot better because of the stone. They have different brands of frozen little crusts on the market. I like the convenience of Amy's for the kids. Check into www.unitedbuyingclubs.com it is a co-op. You can join an existing co-op or start your own. Since you are buying in...
  11. I just drove over 50 miles one way to Bel Cibo, chef Andrew's new place in Michigan. If you want to be a gluten free chef you will have the most dedicated following of customers waiting for you. You could be there to help the newly diagnosed learn how to cook all over again. Reminds me of the old, "When life hands you lemons...." I think everyone will...
  12. Get a Celiac blood screening panel before you start the diet. ( Like it was suggested, I would try the diet regardless of the results. It could be at least one clue for a proper diagnoses. If there is a positive and you decide to genetic test it would be pretty clear for a diagnoses without the endoscopy with biopsy. You would have to consider a positve...
  13. I bought a refurbished model and put gluten free basics on it. I really don't need it for shopping. It is more for the benefit of a babysitter. I do keep it for emergencies. I will never have the gluten free medication list memorized, and I have downloaded the information for pharmacists a few times. Laura
  14. buttered popcorn was on a list saying it was not gluten free, but things change.
  15. I went there today! I ordered the garliac cheese bread, it was very good. For anyone taking the road trip there... They will order from Celiac Specialties in Chesterfield. The donuts are the best! Call ahead and get your order in. Laura
  16. Finnish, German and a little Swede. No doctor ever thought of testing for Celiac, even with the background. For my kids you have to add Polich and French Canadian. Laura
  17. I'm having major keyboard issues. Could someone post on the other site about a possible connection to gluten? I would have done anything to get rid of those bumps. If a gluten free diet can get rid of it for three people, it is worth knowing about. Laura
  18. Wow! I'm so excited, I might try and get there today. Didn't I see this chef at the last food fair? In Ocotober 2005? Laura
  19. My son and I have that. The more gluten, the more bumps.
  20. I would definately call Walgreen's and let them know the $%^ pharmacist isn't willing to help customers. To let them know that poison control doesn't have the answers you need. Do they want your business or not? Laura
  21. Umm, I think I caught it from a toilet seat. ROFL Sometimes it gets a little too serious around here! Laura I started showing symptoms since I was 10. I've had mono, meningitis, mycoplasmic pnemonia, and 2 pregnancies. The second pregnancy turned all symptoms to "classic". To try and track down the trigger would be a waste of time to me. I would...
  22. I buy those girl scout cookies and make my neighbor buy 'em off me. As for a replacement for the Hostess cupcakes/twinkies, this is what I came up with. Bake the Pamela truffles brownie mix as the cake in the bundt pan. Make up cream filling, (got the recipe off Epicurious.com) it's basically crisco whipped with sugar. I rigged up a funnel with a plastic...
  23. I'm so glad you have your "official" diagnoses. Congratulations! Your drive to get the answers, was the main reason for diagnoses. Would you consider, to claculate the number of appointments, tests, medical cost, and time for your diagnoses? I think that would be helpful for new posters, and an eye opener for society how important Celiac Disease/gluten...
  24. Bring them to share at the next gathering, or pass them on to someone special. To put good chocolates in the trash is the worst thing I ever heard of. I wouldn't eat them because of possible cross contamination. If chocolate covered cherries are a particular favorite of your husband, try making them yourself. Ask this person for their recipe and tips...
  25. Can you get a humidifier? The more moisture in the air makes the same temperature feel warmer. Keep your skin well moisturized. Laura
