  1. I do believe my last dog could sniff out gluten. She was on a gluten free diet too. A guest had come over with a loaf of bread tucked into her bag to take her medication with. The dog and cat teamed up and ate that whole loaf of bread of her bread (their food dishes were full). I was so embarrassed.
  2. Salax, Please keep me informed, as my 7 year-old daughter is having very similar symptoms. She was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis and we apparently eliminated her fodd trigger(s). Her last scope in December show no signs of Celiac damage or eosinophils. We are waiting on her blood tests. Ultra-sensitive TSH free T4 lytes, BUN, ?, calcium, glucose...
  3. Narcolepsy has recently been classified as an auto-immune disease. That would be a connection to a gluten free lifestyle helping the overall health of the patient. (Sounds like we have hit on the same articles.) A vitamin B12 defiency could explain some of the symptoms and is common among Celiacs. A good explaination of Vitamin B12 defiency can be found...
  4. I never heard of this being related to Celiac. Has anyone noticed if they have a different blood pressure reading when sitting compared to standing? Is your blood pressure in the high range or low range? At least 2 of you feel it is related to another food intolerance. My aunt (who has not been diagnosed with celiac disease) told me this is how...
  5. Hi, Thank you for posting. Now you know why so many seem to be "self" diagnosed, with negative blood tests.
  6. We are thinking about adopting 2 dwarf rabbits for my kids to do 4H showing. We only had our previous rabbit out when were able to watch him. They really are little fur balls of personality and fun. He loved bananas. They have some listed on www. petfinder .com but the adoption prices are really high. Good luck with your bun bun!
  7. People accidently ingest shampoo and water while in the shower. A safe test... Put a handful of gluten free baking soda into your shampoo and carry on as normal, when/if you get the taste baking soda ~ then you now it is proabably the shampoo.
  8. There is also a connection to Secondary Addison's Disease. (From an NIH ,the conclusion that Celiac patients have an 11 fold liklihood of developing secondary Addison's disease.) The symptoms you are describing sound like some of the Addison's symptoms. The first test that should be looked at would be an electrolyte profile. If you are found to have low...
  9. I recently had my gallbladder taken out after having the worst nausia of my life. That is after 5+ years gluten free. Hashimoto's for 15 years. Recent diagnoses of Pernicious anemia too. The pins and needles pain is most likely from a vitamin B12 deficiency. Get to the doctor pronto and try and get this figured out. You should get a refferal to a gastro...
  10. Was the term furrowing in the esophagus mentioned? Do you have difficulty swallowing? I've seen pictures showing eosinophils (the creamy yellow speckles) ~it really has to be lab pathology diagnosed. It looks like it to me, but I am not a doctor.
  11. Pernicious anemia can also be something you should look up. It can be caused from undercooked fish too.
  12. Hi Marquette! You have symptoms of vitamin B12 defiency. Vitamin A has a link to vision as well as a cocktail of fish oil, ?, ? (sorry I can't remember the exact 3 things that should be taken together.) Does any one actually eat liver? There are too many warnings of toxin and heavy metal contamination for me, so basically the vitamins and minerals need...
  13. My son is ten and his appetite really increased during this growth spurt time. I think Trents is right on with the advice there.
  14. Dairy is known to cause more phelgm without an allergy diagnoses for humans. When was the last time she had an endoscopy with biopsy? She may have to have one to determine if there is anything else going on and to check on the gluten free diet healing process.
  15. Well... Female hormones affect every thing in your life. Studies have shown women perform better at math tests during certain points of the menstrual cycle. Doctors have diagnosed PMS because the hormone changes affect mood. Experienced hairdressers will admit perm chemicals react better during flow time. Auto-immune diseases symptomatic effects are...
  16. It could be dysphagia. Food could really be stuck in her throat. Are you noticing any other symptoms?
  17. Get your thyroid checked. Get a refferal to an endocronologist as not all thyroid disorders are easy to diagnose. Any weight changes? Any soreness in your neck? Hoarse voice? skin changes?
  18. I have heard cases of lacing brownies with laxative ending in criminal charges. This is intent to do bodily harm. She asked you if you felt sick, right? So she was expecting you to get sick. Why you would ever have anything to do with this person again, I can't think of a good enough reason at this point.
  19. That is great news! I just wish everyone could hear the positives of the gluten free diet at the same time as the diagnoses. We do have some awful stories here, but it's what makes this a bonding place! Celiac strangers on the internet can understand the situation better than our spouses, parents, siblings, in-laws, "friends" (like you need to search...
  20. You've gotten advice that I agree with and you are taking vitamins that I would suggest too. Get your thyroid checked again. After pregnancy your thyroid is supposed to go more to the hyper active side. Have you had night sweats? Skin changes? Hang in there! Having a baby is worth all the hormonal distress. Listen to some nice relaxing music with...
  21. If you choose to contact the venue or caterer, be prepared to make a reminder phone call. One the day of the event for the venue kitchen or a day ahead for the caterer. As soon as you get there, introduce yourself to the waitstaff and let them know where you are sitting. I handle this myself without involving the event co-ordinator or bride and groom....
  22. Pernicious anemia is associated with Celiac disease. If your gut lacks the intrinsic factor needed to process vitamin B12. Early symptoms would be a B12 deficiency and enlarged red blood cells.
  23. I like the Roben Ryberg cookbooks too. Look over some of your old recipes that don't call for a lot of flour, and substitute a gluten free "flour" mix.
  24. It could be a reaction to another food intolerance. (I react to sorghum.) I was happily gluten free at least 5 years and recently started getting nauseas, pains, and vomitting. I was tested for some different things, but it was my gallbladder. I had it removed 2 and half weeks ago.
