    I vote for the life insurance angle. In marriages where there's a lot of money, sometimes the life insurance is kept in place for the spouse with an irrevocable beneficiary and it's part of the divorce settlement. I am going to say something that might be more offensive to some than the prior post but a lot of R.N.'s aren't up to date on medical things...

    sorry to say, but the no frills vitamin never broke down in the water test. we threw them out because they went thru both of us whole, not just my husband the celiac. the gelatin should melt in body temperature water at the least - you could even add vinegar to mimick stomach acid, I suppose.

    sometimes coatings on pills don't breakdown...even in non celiacs. a simple test is to put pill in glass of regular water and see how long it takes breakdown (a pharamacist told me to do this when a no frills vitamin didnt' breakdown..he said that some coatings are too tough)

    On a couple of occasions I have had breaded onion ring in my fries @ Burger King. This probably happens more often than we suspect. So eating fries from McD, BK, etc. is "eat at your own risk" despite any statements to the contrary.

    You're making me worry too.....So when is your Dr. appointment?

    I hope they come to their senses real fast.....My sister in law is in denial as well, but thankfully she has no children, so it's only herself she is hurting. Maybe your nephew would consider going gluten-free on his own like sort of a test (if he's mature 13 and can/will do it).

    I usually tell people that there are no dumb blondes, only brunettes who bleach their hair blonde are the source of dumb blondes and give us real blondes a bad rep. (no offense to bleached blondes meant, just kidding). (by the way, "Winter Wheat" is a Clairol haircolor name")

    It's the place I go to when I want to make sure that we're not "nuts." Everyone here has had our experiences and fears and anxiety so we don't feel like the outsiders (as we normally do with non celiac people). Although I am not celiac, I experience it with my DH. Hopefully celiacs will eventually be large in number and rule the world!

    Love Cadbury brand but due to lactose intolerance it does a number on me too. Haven't had them in years due to this. Lactose pills work "pot-shotly."

    the only barrier would be getting this once it's out as a prescription....as sure as shooting the pharamaceutical plans will not want to pay for it....maybe at first when the initial price is so high. We should work from now to clear the pathway with these pharm plans to make sure that they are on board with it from the start. Would the demand that they...

    The liver and pancreas can be either CT scanned or sono-grammed. This and the liver panel (hepatatic panel) is needed. Are you having diarrhea and stomach cramping too? Do you live near a university hospital? Were you exposed to chemicals lately? Like petroleum or petroleum vapors?

    Interesting ...hubby used to get those mouth sores often before going gluten-free. Now I see the connection.

    Did the infection start with a salivary gland stone? I've had stones get stirred up and block the gland's opening and the glad blew up. Once the stone dislodges the glad goes down. (by the way, cats get this a lot so I might be part cat!) The stones get stired up when I have a lifesaver or coughdrop in my mouth.

    I vote for liver panel, I've heard of this before. I'd get it asap before you get the symptoms chronically and have to go to the hospital.

    Husband's skin had grey tone to it for years....about 6 weeks gluten-free everyone commented on how much better he looked. So going gluten-free improved his coloring significantly.

    I had this issue with them about a year ago....called them and they confirmed that they were gluten-free, but the gluten-free statement on bags were missing....and gluten-free Mall was still selling them as gluten-free. I thought that "it was me" that "I was missing something in this translation here." Obviously my instincts were right. We stopped...

    We went to nutritionist when husband was first diagnosed and I expected that this person would have a lot of lists of gluten-free brand foods, etc. All she handed out was the stuff you can get over the internet or from the library. I expected to at least look at a product book like the CSA puts out or internet choices like Clan Thompson or GlutenGuard...

    Is there a connection between this and celiac? We belong to the "Health Problem of the Month Club" and he was assigned lymphederma for June 2006. We really would like to cancel our subscription. Anyone have experience with this? What are compression bandages? I know they are not ACE bandages.....

    would the GH shot work in a weight debilitated celiac (gee, take my husband for example) adult as well?

    Judy, was this a result of lymphederma? My husband Mike has been battling a low level case of this, now after his knee surgery his foot ballooned up. Sit and wonder what's next? Sounds like you still are in midst of this cellutlies (don't know how to spell it). I am hoping that next I hear from you you are at the "better" stage of this.

    Judy, do hope you're doing better every day. Hubby had his bursa sacks removed from both knees Thurs so he's in Ace bandages almost on his entire leg and isn't allowed to bend his knees for a week. Keep well Debbie

    - - - - - - - - Gosh, like having them figuratively "spill their guts" is a bad thing. The celebrities say and do things that I find replusive and yet talking about having celiac would be in bad taste....too many excuses for this club of overpaid baggage. I think someone coming "out of the celiac closet" is just the thing we need.
