  1. Maybe the Priest should always offer two chalices: one that never had a Host in it and one for everyone else. That certainly would include the celiac and non celiac.
  2. Was the doctor going to run any other tests?
  3. Although the disclaimer is shown on the menu, it's pretty much "eat at your own risk" at any restaurant. Sounds like he's trying hard to please you by going to restaurants. My husband has been diagnosed since 2003 and still cannot bring himself to trust a restaurant. Just this weekend I learned that the fellow at the car dealership where I bring my...
  4. I'd like to make a pork roast in crockpot like you make a beef pot roast. Anyone know basic instructions like # of hours @ high or low temperature....
  5. ...just checking in to see what is the outcome of your testing.... It doesn't seem like anyone knows about pituitary tumors.
  6. Hopefully this will make it a step in the right direction.
  7. Lisa It sounds like withdrawal symptoms. My husband had those symptoms when he started Serzone years ago and within 3 weeks had to abruptly stop because the symptoms just intensified. Anti-anxiety/depressants work wonderfully, but there are a lot of neurological side effects that happen. Call Dr. as soon as his office is open just to alert him...
  8. Don't get me started on this topic
  9. I try to let people be who they are....yes some complain about things they can fix but it's human nature I suppose. Let's just say "but for the grace of God go I." Similar to how a ex-smoker feels about smokers -- they know just what triggers the bad behavior and how hard it is to get away from it. Yes, isn't it interesting that junk foods will...
  10. I am careful about what I eat, but I tend to stay overweight (someone once commented that it's called "cosmetically overweight" not obesity level). I eat healthy, even gluten-free with my husband (to a point) and I get to have my chocolate/goodies from time to time; however, I appear to be unhealthy in weight and a lot of people use that as the prime evidence...
  11. My husband just got a standard rate life policy thru MetLife this year despite telling them he had celiac disease. The underwriters there knew what celiac is and weren't afraid of it.
  12. Ipellegr: Not to go astray, but what else in Wildwood/Crest area is gluten-free cooking? I tried to contact Two Mile Landing and they never answered my letter from 2005. I don't know anything about LBI - was never there.
  13. GI - Dr. P. Sachan on Chestnut St. in Union, NJ
  14. Do you mean "Long Beach Island" in the seashore area of New Jersey?
  15. That explains as to why several months ago I tried to register with them and emailed their administrator as to why my info was not "taking" and never got a response........I tried again last night coincidentially and they are totally gone from cyberspace. This is a commercial for Celiac.com Board: That's why we are grateful we have this board. A Thank...
  16. My husband's sister cannot understand the secondary food intolerances and she thinks that this part is "all in his head" (that he can't digest soy, eggs, spices, and nuts) when his York testing confirmed that he's got intolerance to this stuff. When we used to eat at her place, one of the last times we were there she snuck powdered garlic on the chicken...
  17. you're right to conclude it's something serious. Unfortunately if you go to E.R. they'll probably send you home with pain meds....if they are running slow they might do an X ray or mayabe an MRI which is probably what you need. Unfortunately the pain could be from anything: damage to cartlidge, clot, etc. and it needs to be x rayed or MRI'd.
  18. Hubby how has the lyphedema in both legs and it got increasingly worse.....after the bursa removal operation it got worse. Connection? Anyway, what kind of doctor should he see first? He's the type of person who you only have "one shot" at a doctor. If I trot him to the GP and they refer him to a specialist he'll get annoyed as he would have wanted...
  19. Maybe Comcast can run some public info commercials about celiac for free......
  20. I had half of thyroid removed in 1999; never had needle biopsy; it was a "cold" nodule but surgeon removed thryroid that was affected. He explained that sometimes the needle doesn't get the bad cells and you end up with a "false" negative. The final biopsy after surgery was negative anyway. I am on thyroid med for rest of my life to prevent the...
  21. I want to get away from doing the little well since I am making the bread immediately. My understanding of this is that perhaps the machine's instructions say to do it this way because some people have the bread machine on a timer (?) and the yeast would get prematurely started if it was mixed into the flour... So I guess I can mix the yeast into the...
  22. Vincent Good news for Tim - glad they found a way to correct some of these issues for him so he can get on with being a child. Debbie
  23. My husband noticed a strange (but documented in PDR) side effect from Requip. His one leg has edema.
  24. what is a toasted ravoli? I have had them boiled and baked, but not toasted...I keep thinking of toasted marshmallows...
