2kids4me replied to FeedIndy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We use Kinnickinnick pancake and waffle mix. Everyone loves them! I use it more for waffles cause then I can freeze them and kids can pop a waffle in at breakfast. We also used this mix at a scout camp - thought it safest to make gluten free pancakes for everyone... to avoid cc... all the kids said they tasted better than their moms! Sandy -

ARCHIVED Low Urine Output After Eating Bread?
2kids4me replied to sausage's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
it sounds as if you have a number of conditions... I am not a doctor, but it would be most likely that the urination issues are related to the prostate. Urinating every 60 minutes is more concerning than not going for 5 hours and passing dark urine. You say the urine you pass frequently is clear - and you pass dark urine when it is held longer - when you... -
ARCHIVED Bad Endoscopy Results :(
2kids4me replied to Emme999's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The Z- line is the point at which the esophagus meets the stomach. Another term to describe the Z- line is the squamocolumnar junction (the point where the lining changes from esophageal [squamous] to stomach [columnar]. In this area is the location of the lower esophageal sphincter. I am pretty sure that I have read on some other threads about villous... -

2kids4me replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The average time for food to get from one end ot the other is 20 hours, faster if the food has caused diarrhea. Hope that answers your question. Sandy -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Enuresis
2kids4me replied to pinktroll's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
my son wet his bed almost every night, we were told it was common in boys, he'd outgrow it ...blah blah. Then he was diagnosed celiac at age 10 yrs and within weeks of going gluten free, he stopped bedwetting. I came to understand from other parents that celiac and bedwetting can go together... there are other causes of bedwetting but this was our experience... -
I have included some text and a link for an article about liver and celiac. A long article from the World Journal of Gastroenterology. ots of medical words - but bascially , yes elevated liver enzymes are not uncommon in celiac sprue and often return to normal after gluten free diet. hope this helps

ARCHIVED Anyone Care To Guess...
2kids4me replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think more doctors should listen to the patient and not rely soley on blood tests. Example - my daughter had anti-endomeseal antibodies that barely registered - GI doc said they were as low as you get get and still be considered positive. The biopsy however was conclusive with villous atrophy - the extent of which surprised the GI doc. Even if you... -
ARCHIVED Making New Members Feel Welcome
2kids4me replied to Nantzie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
my 2 cents Its the gab chat threads that saved my soul! Reading humorous little bits and getting a spiritual boost made a HUGE difference in my day!! For me - I begin my day - carb counting and calculating insulin for my son (and myself), figuring out how much extra carbs he needs for a basketball game after school when they go to an "away game". Doing... -
Since Candida makes people feel like sh** then we need to import a load of dung beetles to take of it! Sandy

ARCHIVED Other Auto Immune Disorders?
2kids4me replied to jen2be2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Our family - as you can see by the signature has multiple immune disorders. There is a genetic link is the sense that there is "defect" (for lack of better word) that can be triggered by a number of factors - virla, bacterial, environmental - that turns the immune sytstem against its "host" (the body). Endrodrine galnds are similar in structure and apperance... -

ARCHIVED Kimberly-clark
2kids4me replied to srokie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes we have the right to be skeptical. I have had people send "important info" to me that Matt will outgrow his diabetes and only need pills once he is an adult. That is the result of confusion with the old term "juvenile diabetes" and "adult onset". People figured once the juvenile became an adult it would "convert". My kids drink crystal light from time... -
Good to see teens in rachelville - it will help us old farts stay young. I had to laugh and give my boy a hug the other day... we wre discussing age and I said I was proud to be 45..my son gave me cute look and replied : but remember mom you are really 35! I had forgotten that when I turned 40 and few birthdays after that..... I told him that when you turn...

ARCHIVED Sick 8yrold
2kids4me replied to hillyb6's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes to the clumsy part especially for Kathryn. My personal opinion is that they are sick tired, not sleeping well and any person who is tired is more clumsy. My daughter is always more sick than anyone else if she gets a "bug"... in our case it has been that way since she had Kawasaki followed by celiac. if the immune system is being "taxed" by another problem... -
ARCHIVED Sick 8yrold
2kids4me replied to hillyb6's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I can positively say my daughter had migraines linked to celiac. Once she was diagnosed they went away - totally. She would stagger down the hall, grabbing her head and crying, go to her room and ask that the lights be turned off - but they already were off! The ped GI doc said that if the headches did not go away once gluten free for a while, we should... -
ARCHIVED Possible Glutening
2kids4me replied to cmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have heard from various people over the last few years - most have no health issues and they react badly to sucralose. One friend gets horrible gas, another diarrhea...myself I get an unsettled stomach then gas later. Found out when I tried kettle corn popcorn and it had sucralose. I dont react to other artificial sweeteners. -

Its nice to be here in Rachelville. I have been unable to get to the site becasue I had an old version of explorer which kept telling me - page is unavailable. Fixed it so now I can see I have 61 pages to sift thru! My mother in Law passed away last week and we had the funeral 2 days ago. Very hard on kids as this grandma lived close by and adored the...

ARCHIVED Another "why Don't They Get It" Thread
2kids4me replied to lonewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
People stopped making comments once they saw how much better the children felt. There will always be people out there who think we are 'depriving" ourselves or our children by omitting gluten. They dont comment about a 2 yr old eating fries every day at McDonalds or a teen eating twinkies for lunch - yet they feel compelled to comment about a diet that is... -
lactose intolerance is the inability of your body to produce the enzyme necessary to digest lactose in dairy products. It does not damage your intestine but it may cause diarrhea and/or constipation which would lead to you feeling crappy - or gas and bloating which make you feel crappy.

ARCHIVED Why Now ?
2kids4me replied to DVK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The trigger is variable - stress - physical or emotional. Physical illness - viral, bacterial or injury. You may have had celaic for years and been asymptomatic. It is an autoimmune disease like Type one diabetes, Hashimotos, Lupus, to name a few of the 60+ immune mediated diseases. Why did I get Type 1 diabetes at age 25 but my son dveloped it at 9 ? I... -
When my daughter got migraines from gluten (prior to diagnosis), the light hurt eyes a lot. She would go to bed, put a blanket over her head and ask me to turn the lights off - they were already off! A headache is a common reaction to gluten and photophobia goes along woth headaches /migraines. Hope this helps. Sandy

ARCHIVED Baby, It's Cold Outside
2kids4me replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was tempted but my errands included insulin and blood test strips, Kathryn has already missed a lot of school this past month with various 'bugs" that have been going through school. It always seems to hit her harder than Matt.... ever since the Kawasaki - she doesnt recover as quickly from any virus , takes extra days and lots more sleep. Other moms of...
