Yup....and for desert last night I melted strawberry sorbet. :P

I miss my melted ice cream! :(

Yeah, but with this other stuff, you don't need to go to the trouble! It's like already melted ice cream! I tasted it and said it tasted like melted ice cream, then one of my kids said, yeah that's what I said! I then said, I've GOT to tell Rachel about this stuff!

Then I was thinking, she's Mexican, she might already know about it!

LOL...yeah but Carla....I'm a really "white" mexican! :P

When the customers at work start talking to me in spanish I just look at them like this

I actually do know what horchata is...but I've never had it! I'm sure I would totally LOVE it....even better than my melted ice cream.

I'm gonna put it on my "to try" list for when I'm tolerating more things. Who knows it might be soon with my enzymes! :D

CarlaB Enthusiast

I was pretty sure I already knew you didn't speak Spanish! LOL But I thought that maybe some of your older relatives might have had some more traditional foods. :D I hope you can try it soon. If I can find some in Ohio, I'm sure you can find some there!

That's really hysterical about the customers expecting you to speak Spanish!

You would love this stuff ... I KNOW you would. It tastes like melted ice cream! I had had it before, but it was at a Mexican "wanna-be" restaurant. This place we're going to now is authentic!

Nope...its my dad thats mexican. My family is huge on that side but I dont see them since I was a kid.

My ex is mexican (well a few of my exes are) so I've eaten plenty of traditional stuff...just not horchata. :(

My enzymes seem to be working a miracle so I'm hopeful that it wont be long. :)

The one I'm currently taking is specifically for breaking down phenols but the enzyme (which is used in high amounts) also happens to fight candida....causing die off. An enzyme high in proteases can help to digest the dying yeast...limiting the die-off reactions.

would you happen to know an enzyme high in proteases? i feel like if i have to get rid of candida, i can't take a bad die-off, i can barely walk around and these neuro symptoms are too much, i wouldn't want to end up in the hospital

i was looking too and i saw this "Dr Rosemary Waring found that most people with autism conditions have a deficiency in a key detoxification pathway."

detox issues came up, do you think having problems with that can cause a lot of neuro/mental problems? because it sounds like that would make sense, and i feel like those issues are much worst than the rest...and a few pages back, you posted the smallest sulfur thing can cause nerve/brain problems, and that could be a reason why i'm not detoxing right, right?

glad to hear about everything going well with you though! i didn't even think recently that when your immune gets so burdened, basic body functions break down and it could be such simple things to help on

I've had horchata...I didn't like it. But then again, I don't really like melted ice cream, so...

That sounds so fun! My dad is an only child and my uncle is not married .... so I have NO cousins!!!! Not nearly as fun as a large family! That's why I had to have so many kids, LOL!

LOL, Kassandra! I've had is somewhere else and it wasn't as good as this kind, so I think there's a wide variety of tastes to it, but I don't think there's any getting around the melted ice cream taste! I liked it, but a small glass would be all I could handle.

Ok this is totally off topic but i trust what you guys have to say and i had to get this out and didnt want to post this on the main forum anywhere.

Tommorow we go to court against my stepsons mom. She is going to be sentenced to 6 months in jail for not paying child support. I can give her a get out of jail free card and ask her to sign him over to me. I have wanted this for a very long time. But now i sit here and feel sorry for her, the only thing she really has her son, even tho she has not seen him 2 years. He talked to her last night and she said some things i dotn even want to repeat here, just in case anyone sees this that knows me or her lol. I just dont know what to do. If anyone wants more to the story you can PM me.

CarlaB Enthusiast

If she's saying abusive things to your/her son, then send her to jail. If she's a good mother aside from the money issues, let her see him.

Mercy is not a bad thing ... unless it harms the welfare of the child. Protecting a child from a bad parent is not bad either.

This is a complicated issue .... there are questions like, why hasn't she paid? Why hasn't she seen him?

Can you have her wages garnished instead? I know (because my husband is a business owner) that this is done.

Good luck, this is a difficult decision.

If you want, you can PM me more info and I can give you a more solid opinion. :)

confusedks Enthusiast

Can you ask her to sign him over to you and still have her go to jail? Or can you only do one or the other?

confused Community Regular

Thanks carla, i think you are right and i even just talked to ss counselor and she agrees. She did the crime now its time she does her time. Now to see if its best for him to see her in jail or not which they will talk about in counseling tonight.

Yep kassandra, its just one or the other. But we are going to let her go to jail.

I dont need a piece of paper saying that he is mine, cause i know he is mine in every way that counts.

Paula, based on what you PM'd me, you made the right decision. She deserves jail.

If she doesn't see him now, why should she see him when she's in jail?

At 14 I'm sure he knows whether he wants to see her. If he wants to, he probably should ... but if he doesn't, then he shouldn't be forced to. I mean, does he even KNOW her?

That is what hubby said she should not be able to see him, but i told him it has to be his choice, he is old enough to decide. The only bad thing is at his age an adult/parent has to go with him and hubby works during those visiting hours, so that means i have to be there with the 4 other kids which is not good for the other kids.

That is why i want the counselor to talk to him and see what he wants, cause if we ask him, he will say no, but maybe deep in his heart or mind he wants to. At least he does not have to be afraid she will kidnap him (which she has done)

I think i have spent more time in a month with him, then she has in the last 12 years. So no he hardly knows her, tg for that.

Nyxie63 Apprentice

Back from Pincushion Monday. But wait! There's more!

In addition to what I've already been tested for, I reacted to: almonds, coffee, garlic, green peas, tomatoes, green peppers, celery, sesame, garbanzo beans (chick peas), mushrooms, cabbage, strawberries, and spinach.

Fortunately, my reactions to these weren't too bad. They're considered moderate.

So I have an appt with the Holistic MD next week to go over my allergy testing and to set up a diet plan that takes all this into account, as well as the candida diet.

I've decided to hold off freaking out until then.

Nyxie63 Apprentice

Andrea,

Glad you're doing better! :)

Isn't melted ice cream a milk shake? :D

Im in the process of looking into get an Ro water system for the whole house. But they are so expenisive, does anyone know a place were they are more affordable then 3,000 and up. Or do i need an whole house filter, or would i be ok with an filter in the kitchen and in the bathoom shower.

paula

CarlaB Enthusiast

Paula, RO for the whole house is excessive. You are only going to drink some of the water, so you don't need it all purified to that level.

We have a whole house purifier and and RO for the kitchen. We also have a water softener. There is a separate faucet in the kitchen for the RO .... the RO is also attached to the ice maker and the water in the refrigerator.

I really don't remember what it cost. I know the softener was expensive, but I don't think the whole house filter and the RO was as much as you are talking about.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Nyxie, sorry about the allergies. Are you having all this sent to L. and Dr. H? I'm just curious what they think of it all.

I've usually made a milk shake with ice cream and milk, not by melting ice cream. ;)

It sounds like you're making the right decision Paula. :) It sounds like a tough one to make. We have had some custody issues and child support stuff and it has been hard for my mom to make decisions about how to pursue these kinds of things.

OMG! You react to EVERYTHING! I can't wait to hear what your holistic MD has to say! LOL! I would LOVE to hear what s/he says for you to eat! Let us know, okay?

Well I am very discouraged :(

My outbreak kept going and going, it turned from hives into full blown angioedema, and it was as severe as they have always been.

I am obviously not able to detox and I can't get on with treatment until I am able to detox :(

CarlaB Enthusiast

I'm sorry Julie .... what about trying cholestyramine? It is often used to bind toxins in those with trouble detoxing.

confused Community Regular

I am so sorry julie, hopefully the nd will be able to come up with something to help you detox.

Regarding the discrimination you asked about, it is a lot more easy now to discriminate when you're supposed to answer whether or not you have celiac disease on job applications, and from what I've seen, MANY companies now include this question on their applications:

People with coeliac disease have an altered gut biome compared with those who do not, which may be associated with gut inflammation. Although the gut biome recovers on a gluten-free diet, there are still significant differences at 2 years. In a mouse model of coeliac disease, supplementation with the soluble dietary fibre, inulin, increased the number of beneficial microbes and reduced gut inflammation. Inulin is used by some plants as carbohydrate store, it is a complex polymer of fructose in the same way that starch is a complex polymer of glucose. Inulin cannot be digested by humans but serves as food source for some gut bacteria. Inulin is present in many vegetables but the richest sources are (g/100g): chicory root 41.6 Jerusalem artichoke 18.0 dandelion greens 13.5 garlic 12.5 leeks 6.5 onions 4.3 The Scientist: Fiber-Metabolizing Bacteria Could Boost Gut Health in Celiac Disease

Hi Ginger38 Well done you for pushing through the pain barrier of eating gluten, when you know each mouthful is making you poorly.  I went through the same thing not long ago, my biopsy was for dermatitis herpetiformis. Result positive, so 95% certain I have gut coeliacs too. But my bloods were negative, so very pleased I went for the gluten challenge and biopsy.  Hang on in there. Sue

When symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, or low energy change how we interact, others sometimes misinterpret that as disinterest, rudeness, or negativity—especially if they don’t understand the underlying condition. That doesn’t make their behavior okay, though. You don’t deserve to be treated poorly for something outside your control. Often, it reflects a lack of awareness or empathy on their part, not a fault in you. It can help to explain your condition to people you trust, but it’s also completely valid to set boundaries and distance yourself from those who respond with hostility. Your experience—and your reaction to it—makes sense. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.  Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do extensive follow up testing for a broad range of nutrient deficiencies, nor recommend that those just diagnosed with celiac disease take a broad spectrum vitamin/mineral supplement, which would greatly benefit most, if not all, newly diagnosed celiacs. Because of this it took me decades to overcome a few long-standing issues I had that were associated with gluten ataxia, for example numbness and tingling in my feet, and muscle knots--especially in my shoulders an neck. Only long term extensive supplementation has helped me to resolve these issues.
    • Scott Adams
Being HLA-DQ2 positive doesn’t diagnose celiac disease by itself, but it does mean he has the genetic potential for it, so it absolutely deserves careful follow-up if symptoms or concerns are present. You’re right that celiac is often downplayed, but it’s a serious autoimmune condition—not an allergy—and it can affect the brain, nervous system, and overall health if untreated. Given everything your son has been through, you’re doing the right thing by advocating and asking questions. I would strongly recommend getting a full copy of his records, and if possible, consulting a gastroenterologist who understands celiac disease well so you can get clear answers and, if needed, proper testing and monitoring.
