Very Strange Sensations Today..

Ok.....

This will be brief because how I feel

1. Feel drunk

2. headache - aleve won't help

3. turn my head or look up and down, swishy dizzy feeling

4. feel like I should not drive

5. feel like I have a fever, buy don't

6. catching myself swaying while sitting or standing, like now

7. very odd, but heard a whispered voice call my name at the grocery store several times, looked around and no one was there. Watching TV, same voice. NEVER had that happen before.

8. Gradually stopped Lexipro over a weeks time. Cut down dosage accordingly. Today is 72 hours

without. (gosh, I am sooo dizzy)

Is this detox from the lexipro or is my brain going to explode tonight and the angles are calling me. :unsure::unsure:

Really feeling VERY strange tonight and all day.

Lisa, I don't know anything about Lexipro, so I don't know if that's what is causing this. I am worried about you--are you home alone? Is your husband there? I would call my doctor and see wht he/she says. I know it's Sunday, but I think you should get a professional opinion.

Hopefully someone familiar with the drug and it's side effects when weaning off will see this.

If not, please call the doctor :)

Lisa, I think this does sound like Lexapro withdrawal. Did you talk w/ your dr. about how you should wean yourself off?

Lisa I agree you may want to call your doctor. Is there any chance in addition to the drug stoppage that you might have been glutened as well?

Good catch on that, I missed the week. That is much to short of a time to wean off a drug. I weaned off all meds under a doctors reluctant supervision before I did the elimination diet and we took a full month to do it. Not a pleasant time either, I made bi weekly trips to my acupuncturist which helped with the pain of the celiac and the withdrawl symptoms.

It sounds like Lexapro withdrawal from what I have read. How are you weaning yourself. What was the dose and how quick are you weaning yourself? Sounds like you are miserable. How long were you on Lexapro? Would love to know, because I am weaning myself, but from everything I have read, it can be tough, so I am going to do it slowly. I was on it for two months now and thought it had helped me alot for symptoms I was having that were like IBS still. I think though it was from being gluttened in small amounts before, so I want to go off and see. I really didn't have any major side effects I thought, until I realized I was tired alot more lately and woke in the morning still tired. Also, now that I have been feeling great, I would like to get pregnant. This is why I am being so nosey!

HOpe you feel better. I would take a very small dose to make your symptoms a bit better.

Holy Cow, after reading your site you posted, I know where I am. Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday, and I can call my doctor. It is so strange that parts of my body are :jumping" It's something that I can't explain.

I think that a Tylenol PM might help. Who knows, I have never been here before.

I'm ok. I had to go to dinner around the corner, short but sweet. I will explain to them later, or tomorrow.

I tried to step down from the Lexipro from 10 mg to 5 for a week and then one 5mg every other day........well that didn't seem to work.

I truely can't imagine going off drugs like coke, or crack..........

Would a Tylnenal PM help me tonight to sleep.

Good to know that you're home safe, Lisa. Scary stuff. Try to get a good night's sleep--definately get in touch with your doctor tomorrow to find out the best way to go about this. :)

Hi Lisa!

Just wanted to chime in to say that I think you are on the right track and it is Lexapro withdrawal....

I can remember one time years ago when I stopped taking Rivotril, holy crap, I thought I was going to die! It literally felt like someone had a tie around my neck, and wrists, and it was getting tighter and tighter by the minute! I literally thought I was going to die, even to the point of the sensation of my eyes bulging out.... It was a horrid experience! Just wanted to share to set your mind at ease that it indeed is probably the drug withdrawal, as it sure can feel sometimes like we are walking in hell coming off some drugs.....

This too shall pass....... ;)

I highly recommend calling your doctor first thing and fill him in though - maybe you are coming off it too fast.....

In the meantime, sending you lots of hugs and hope the Tylenol PM helps you....

Gosh Lisa I was praying you'd post after you got back. I was so worried about you too.

I read the site too and found this and am going to see what i can find on the SSRI Withdrawal Syndrome.

The jolts of electricity alot of people mentioned, thought you did too but just ck'd and guess you didn't but feverish alot of people said they had. It sure sounds like this is what you are going through. We u on it long? Sounds like a week is a short time based on what the people said.

I hope your not home alone.

It sounds so scarey..if you get worse and are alone..please post and we'll try to talk you through it.

bless your heart...these drugs are so scarey to me..

Shocker, the symptoms you are experiencing are not the dizziness, they are separate symptoms that make you feel like you are recieving a jolt of electricity, going from your head to your extremities. These are rare side effects of SSRI withdrawal, but they are symptoms. Be careful of tapering too quickly, you could plunge yourself into SSRI Withdrawal Syndrome, which consists of flu-like symptoms that can leave you bed-ridden for weeks.

Feel better now that I am home. I told every one that I had a a very bad head cold, and as much as i enjoyed it, I should go home. bla bla bla

The sensation is soooo weird. I feel that there are little jolts all over my body from time to time. I wonder if I could lite a litebulb :huh:

Everyone has been so helpful, as I was a little, well alot freekin out about what was happening.

Last night I had the most vivid dreams that I could not even dream about relaying...but so very much disturbing. It still creaps me out in the day time. Terrible things about family and stuff. oooh.

If this is what controlled drugs do............adious for me jack.

Patti. Jim is here and I made him read some postes. He fusses, but, first to be there when I am in need. Don't worry about that.

(This is so weird, my body feels like there are little firecrackers, without the heat, just the pop, in mu muscles)

My better thought is that I will reget this post when I wake up in the morning.

I apparently made a mistake on going off Lexipro too fast. Maybe my unfortunate experience will help some one else. It was wonderful when on it.........apparently, hard to get off.

Just curious, do you have the sensation of what feels like a bug crawling on you, but there is nothing there? I had that all over my body also when I was going off Rivotril...... obviously coming off some drugs makes the nerve endings go haywire, I guess.....

the 'little shockings' seem to be what the others were trying to describe...

I can't relate to this except for the 'reactions' i get when on predizone..so i sure feel for you.

If it helps a few years ago I had been taking klonopin for restless legs and decided I should stop taking it, so I stopped just like that. I thought I was going to die, my heart was going crazy, it was just awful. I didn't talk to my doctor about tapering off it, just stopped, and didn't make the connection for several months.

Anyway, I have been to Rachelville and the streets are all rolled up, lights are out, dustbowls everywhere, :lol: save your gas for another day

Lisa, just curious: Why are you quitting the Lexapro? I am on 5 mg a day, and have no intention of quitting at this point in my life!

SSRI Withdrawal Syndrome

The following criteria define the SSRI (or SNRI) withdrawal syndrome:

Criterion A: A course of treatment in which an SSRI (or vanlafaxine) is stopped or interrupted or the dose is reduced after a period of 4 weeks or more.

Criterion B: Two or more of the following symptoms develop within 1 to 10 days of criterion A (except for fluoxetine in which case the symptoms must develop within 28 days):

(a) dizziness or light headedness

(B) nausea and/or vomiting

© headaches

(d) lethargy

(e) anxiety and/or agitation

(f) tingling (paresthesias), numbness or "electric" shock-like sensations in the head or limbs

(g) tremors

(h) sweating

(i)insomnia

(j) irritability

(k) vertigo (dizziness)

(l) diarrhea

maybe this will help just give some info.

It sounds like withdrawal symptoms. My husband had those symptoms when he started Serzone years ago and within 3 weeks had to abruptly stop because the symptoms just intensified. Anti-anxiety/depressants work wonderfully, but there are a lot of neurological side effects that happen.

Call Dr. as soon as his office is open just to alert him to this situation.

Just checking in to see how you are feeling today. I hope that you can get in touch with your Dr and figure out a plan. I take Lexapro too and worry about how I am going to get off of it when I am ready to. Please update us and let us know how you are doing. ((((HUGS))))

      Yes.  Now, if you hit your finger with a hammer once, wouldn't you do your best not to do it again?  You have identified a direct connection between gluten and pain.  Gluten is your hammer.  Now you have to decide if you need a medical diagnosis.  Some countries have aid benefits tgat you can get if you have the diagnosis, but you must continue eating a gluten-normal diet while pursuing the diagnosis. Otherwise the only reason to continue eating gluten is social. There are over 200 symptoms that could be a result of celiac disease.. Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity  both cause multiple vitamin and mineral deficiency.  Dealing with that should help your recovery, even while eating gluten.  Phosphatidyl Choline supplements can help your gut if digesting fats is a problem,  Consider that any medications you take could be causing some of the symptoms, aside from gluten.

      Welcome to the forum, @Ben98! If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

      TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you
