has to do with how you maintain attraction for someone (like a husband) that you've lived with forever and ever.............Susie doesn't understand that........

Well, it's not the same as the infatuation you feel when you first start dating .... I guess that explains my love of a good romantic movie! :P

But, once the infatuation wears off, your love deepens. I love my husband much more today than I did when we got married, yet I don't get those butterfly feelings anymore ... well, not usually.

I think this is actually more of a problem for women than for men .... I think men are just so interested in sex that they always think about it  , but for women, we have these ideas that it has to be related to feelings ... it doesn't, it's related to renewing your commitment to each other, to being closer .... just be willing and leave it to him to create interest. ;)

You would have to be around us to understand .... but we look more like a dating couple than a married couple ... I'm the one my friends come to and ask, what's your secret .... I tell them, "just say yes." ;) I've seen more than one marriage improve with that advice .... a woman may have 3564723 things on her honey-do list, but he's got ONE! If you fulfill that ONE, he will kill himself to make you happy.

Tom's sitting there thinking, "Just what doesn't Susie understand?" His answer would be "Victoria's Secret!"

Oh, and add to that that as Catholics, we use natural family planning ... so there is the time we have to avoid or get pregnant, which makes you really have to take advantage of that other time. ;) It's not like you can always say, tomorrow ....

Hmm, I'm not familiar with this product ....

I asked Adam what his answer would be if someone asked him how he stayed attracted to the same person for years ... he said, "Just dumb luck!" Told you it was all simple for guys!

I couldn't do it Susie . . . I was trying to seriously answer this question and it got too involved, very quickly. So here is the silly (but still true) answer: I hear what my friends and neighbors say about their husbands and see what their husbands are like and thank God every day that I've got the one that I've got. Not that I don't like these guys and appreciate their company, I just wouldn't want to be married to/live with any of them.

Here is an interesting statistic that my husband and I were talking about earlier today. Out of the crowd that we ran around with when we first got out of school, only one out of about a dozen marriages ended up in divorce (at least up till now). I would say most of those couples are celebrating somewhere between their 15th and 20th anniversaries. Most everyone was at least 25 before they got married and I don't think any of them had financial hardships to stress the marriage. OK- not funny - just intersting.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Hmm, that's not our case .... we were 21 and 22, fresh out of college ... I graduated early to get married ... and we were flat broke for the first few years ... Thank goodness we had no credit back then and they didn't give it away so freely or we'd have been in trouble!

We had a mattress and a card table when we got married.

But your answer is funny! Be thankful for the guy you got stuck with because you couldn't tolerate the others!

You know, the first year of marriage was the WORST! I certainly wouldn't want to go through that again, so if that's not motivation to stay together, I don't know what is!

Ridgewalker Contributor

Well, hmm... not sure how to answer...

I was 21 and Brian was 23 when we got married... We had Lucas shortly thereafter. I agree, the first year is hard, in fact the first few years were hard for us. Lots of ups and downs and some uncertainty. Once we were worked our way through that... It's impossible to imagine life without him, as sappy as that sounds. :P

I agree with Carla, in that it's a deep emotional closeness. I find myself remembering moments... finding out we were pregnant, the births of our children... seeing him walk our babies, singing them to sleep... Sitting over graph paper together, laying out our dream house...

The fact that we can pitch a tent together, without bickering... rowing a boat through the 'gator swamps outside Charleston, and realizing he was terrified but trying not to show it- because I was having fun...

There's annoying things, too. Like when he was throwing a football to Lucas a couple months ago, and I warned him he was having Luke stand too far out, throwing it too hard. And sure enough, a few minutes later, Luke got smacked in the face with a football, landing him flat on his back. <_< That's part of it, too.

He has never surprised me with flowers, but-- On a camping trip with a bunch of friends, he guarded me while I had a (typical) attack of diarrhea out in the woods. If a woman craps in the woods and only her husband is there to hear it...

It's not so much as keeping an attraction for one person alive, as... there just is no one else. That's really it.

And I am TOTALLY glad I didn't get stuck with any of my friends' husbands!!! :P

Yep, that about sums it up!

It's not like you're never attracted to another person the rest of your life ... it's just that you choose to be with the one you are with. :)

Watching Adam take care of me over the past couple years that I have been sick has been really something .... he had the right balance of "get your lazy @ss out of bed!" and sympathy. :) He knew when I needed rest and when I needed prodding.

BTW, I have a "Luke", too.

Exactly!

:o I didn't know that! :D The only ones of yours I'd heard are Morgan and Chloe. (I love both of those names, BTW!)

Part I

 I'm a legend.

I should check the date of when I foresaw The Legend of the 1/4 Donut and was scoffed at. :P (Ooooooohhhhhhhhhhh are they gonna make me do that confusing de-whateverafying? De-dangling?)

<sigh> ehhhh..."and at was scoffetht"?

There's some little part of my brain that hurts when I read too many of those in a row.

...and received scoff?

...........gigantic fight with my then-boyfriend one night.........not such a fun trip....

Ugh the vacation fight. One started for me in Cabo smack between check-in and elevator. I'm just asking the 'concierge' girl (foldng chair behind card table) about best close places, smiling while doing so.

The ole "you can catch more flies w/ honey than vinegar".

<what's w/ the high priority on catchin' freakin' flies anyway?>

But the girlfriend somehow thinks, I discover days later, that on the very vacation I brought her on - I'm hitting on other women.

Fun couple days there!!

......and BTW animal parts and entrails - and legs and stuff - in the kitchen when I got up every morning.....for the wolf......I have photos.......

Entrails?

I'm not sure I get what's going on here.

Hold on ... .. .no .. .I AM sure that I'm lost.

Is this some Santerian sacrifice to the Wolf god? (For the wolf? From the wolf? Huh? )

Does the wolf have keys? Or did he huff and/or puff w/ the required ferocity to gain entrance via a blown-down portion of the structure?

hmmmm, very ill-defined endpoint. I'll need a lot of data points to make this statistically significant.

Yes, Jess . . ... .it's all about the boundry conditions isn't it?

. . .. her birthday suprise isn't going to happen. I was looking forward to this for a few weeks now...

Aaargh!! No 2 ways to say it. That just suuuuuu-uhh-uhhhhhhhx. :(

Part Deux

Um.......the trivia pubs in Monterey.......'tis a bygone era. The best one was Mucky Duck, on Alvarado - I don't think they do it any more. 'Twas FIERCE and serious trivia. Taht is a STINKY-ass pub - with too many youngsters....the back patio, with giant fire pits, is quite nice, though. The other trivia pub - just a complete GOOFball night - London Bridge Pub on the second wharf......loads of fun....don't know if they do it any more either. WAY more fun when you know people on the teams, and we knew the owners of the bar.......

the BEST pub in Monterey - good gawd, can't remember the name but will think of it - oh! Crown and Anchor - downstairs in a basement - - very British, very cozy, and the food used to be decent.

I don't remember Mucky Duck. Sounds inland. Or post-1990.

Second wharf? At first I thought "now wouldn't I reMEMber that?". Then got a clue that it must be new - w/ my personal definition of New being "since I left.

I bet it's the one the cruise ships use?

But the Crown I remember. Didn't go there much as we had the perfectly bloody authentic Penny Farthing in Salinas. (Did I say something good about Lettuce-town?)

Authentic to the point of regular brawls among the Scotsmen!

Oh! Oh! (hands up, waving wildly in the air)...Pick me! Pick me! I've always proven to be a formidable data point!:blink:

And she's another arrrrr-TEEEst!

<oops looks too piratey now>

SPOILER?????????????????? WTH is a spoiler???????????/

How do I do it??????????????????????????

Did this get answered? On a pc isn't there a dropdown box for these fancier options?

PLEASE keep your answers clean, folks...................

She means you, Marbles!/Carla!. :P

Man.....posted a long-winded but thoughtful piece at 8:00 this morning, full of many witty remarks and insightful referrals to other comments, under incredible pressure as my son needs to be out the door by 8:15. He's ready, snowpants and parka on, beckoning me from the driveway. I hit "post", and thought I saw it go through as I leapt for my coat.

Nope.

I need a rewind button, or a back arrow, or a magic little triangle to take me back in time. Often, I could use this...(rubbing chin)..

Anyways, that creative muse has left me...

Yes, everyone has waxed poetic about what monogamous, true love is all about, (except me...got a superb man, I'm among the luckiest, don't really know the secret. Muddling through--he will always make my heart go dancing), except Amanda. Our newleywed...how is official monogamy so far? :)

You know, there has been no divorce in my family, and only one amongst all my friends - and in that case........they left their loveless marriages to be with their TRUE loves.....adn they are blissfully happy ('twas hell getting there, though...........)

Um, I'm just wondering if I"ll ever meet anyone AGAIN that doesn't............bore me, suck the life out of me, or......gross me out....... Might require me getting a job out of the house? Gads..........................

Dang, got a phone call whilst writing and forgot everything I was fixing to say...........

CARRY ON SILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Em ... ..did you give a good hard look at the [bACK] button? Isn't there something along the right edge?

Both IE & Firefox have the triangle.

I don't see it as paranormal, but if that helps I'll play along!!

(Is it possible you use a version so old it predates backbutton2.0?)

I have (to the right of the forward button) a downward triangle that drops down a box with recent pages viewed.

This happened to me as well. What’s weirder is that within a couple hours of taking paxlovid it subsided. I thought maybe I got glutened but after reading your post not so sure.

Hi Tiffany. Thank you for writing your dituation and  circumstancesin such detail and so well writte, too. I particularly noticed what you wrote about brain for and feeling like your brain is swelling and I know from my own experiences that's how it feel and your brain really does swell and you get migraines.    Way back when I was in my 20s I read a book by 2 MD allergist and they described their patient who came in complaining that her brain, inside her cranium, was swelling  and it happened when she smelled a certain chemical she used in her home. She kept coming back and insisting her brain actually swelled in her head. The Drs couldn't explain this problem so they, with her permission, performed an operation where they made a small opening through her cranium, exposed her to the chemical then watched as she brain did swell into the opening. The DRs were amazed but then were able to advise her to avoid chemicals that made her brain swell. I remember that because I occasionally had brain fog then but it was not a serious problem. I also realized that I was becoming more sensitive to chemicals I used in my work in medical laboratories. By my mid forties the brain fog and chemicals forced me to leave my  profession and move to a rural area with little pollution. I did not have migraines. I was told a little later that I had a more porous blood brain barrier than other people. Chemicals in the air would go up into my sinused and leak through the blood brain barrier into my brain. We have 2 arteries  in our neck that carry blood with the nutrients and oxygen into the brain. To remove the fluids and used blood from the brain there are only capillaries and no large veins to carry it away so all those fluids ooze out much more slowly than they came in and since the small capillaries can't take care of extra fluid it results in swelling in the face, especially around the eyes. My blood flow into my brain is different from most other people as I have an arterial ischema, adefectiveartery on one side.   I have to go forward about 20 or more years when I learned that I had glaucoma, an eye problem that causes blindness and more years until I learned I had celiac disease.  The eye Dr described my glaucoma as a very slow loss of vision that I wouldn't  notice until had noticeable loss of sight.  I could have my eye pressure checked regularly or it would be best to have the cataracts removed from both eyes. I kept putting off the surgery then just overnight lost most of the vision in my left eye. I thought at the I had been exposed to some chemical and found out a little later the person who livedbehind me was using some chemicals to build kayaks in a shed behind my house. I did not realize the signifance  of this until I started having appointments with a Dr. in a new building. New buildings give me brain fog, loss of balance and other problems I know about this time I experienced visual disturbances very similar to those experienced by people with migraines. I looked further online and read that people with glaucoma can suffer rapid loss of sight if they have silent migraines (no headache). The remedy for migraines is to identify and avoid the triggers. I already know most of my triggers - aromatic chemicals, some cleaning materials, gasoline and exhaust and mold toxins. I am very careful about using cleaning agents using mostly borax and baking powder. Anything that has any fragrance or smell I avoid. There is one brand of dishwashing detergent that I can use and several brands of  scouring powder. I hope you find some of this helpful and useful. I have not seen any evidence that Celiac Disease is involved with migraines or glaucoma. Please come back if you have questions or if what I wrote doesn't make senseto you. We sometimes haveto learn by experience and finding out why we have some problems. Take care.       The report did not mention migraines.

Hi Jmartes71 That is so much like my story! You probably know where Laytonville is and that's where I was living just before my 60th birthday when the new Dr. suggested I could have Celiacs. I didn't go on a gluten challange diet before having the Celiac panel blood test drawn. The results came back as equivical as one antibody level was very high but another, tissue transaminasewas normal. Itdid show I was  allergic to cows milk and I think hot peppers. I immediately went gluten free but did not go in for an endoscopy. I found an online lab online that would do the test to show if I had a main celiac gene (enterolab.com). The report came back that I had inherited a main celiac gene, DQ8, from one parent and a D!6 from the other parent. That combination is knows to sym[tons of celiac worse than just inheriting one main celiac gene. With my version of celiac disease I was mostly constipated but after going gluten-free I would have diarrhea the few times I was glutened either by cross contamination or eating some food containing gluten. I have stayed gluten-free for almost 20 years now and knew within a few days that it was right for me although my recovery has been slow.   When I go to see a  medical provide and tell them I have celiacs they don't believe me. The same when I tell them that I carry a main celiac gene, the DQ8. It is only when I tell them that I get diarrhea after eating gluten that they realize that I might have celiac disease. Then they will order th Vitamin B12 and D3 that I need to monitor as my B12 levels can go down very fast if I'm not taking enough of it. Medical providers haven't been much help in my recovery. They are not well trained in this problem. I really hope this helps ypu. Take care.
