Richard, I also did not do well on Prozac. It completely changed my behavior, I was not at all myself, a whole different maniac of a person that thought differently acted differently. It also made me not want to eat, I ate literally an apple a week and developed anorexia.

:o an apple a week???????????? OMG - maybe I should take another look at Prozac....trying to lose that stubborn five pounds............. :blink:

I just want to help her get better...it's frightening -the change in her demeanor and her withdrawl from the world at large.

Richard, so sorry to hear about your sister :(

Like Susie my hubby's only symptom (other than being stick thin) was wild, rapid, crazy mood changes.......anti-depressants didn't seem to help (can you say manic?) and gawd knows it's always harder to get a guy to go to the docs.

He ended up having a complete breakdown.......BUT, this was actually a good thing as it got him properly medicated - - and can I just say I do NOT miss the every day emotional rollercoaster of 15 out of 20 yrs of our marriage :rolleyes: - THANKYOU evil gluten :angry:

I know it would be hard to even think about changing her diet when in that state of mind but it's worth a try??

Hope things get better for her ;)

My son has just had his new brace put on.......he still can't talk without spitting :lol: ....and I can't understand a word he says.

He has to turn a key in it once a week to widen his upper palate (ouch :( )

Oh GAD!!!....talking of teef, poor hubby had to have a tooth extracted today......t'was beyond redemption (bloomin' coeliac strikes again).....dentist said it was SO rotten he could see his jaw bone (EWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!)

He has to go back to have some more out :(

Susie.....if you're gonna go for Amy's subtle eye make-up look, can I suggest you also try the bee-hive ??? (maybe the trucker like tattoos also??)........re-invent yourself!!!!!! :lol:

Richard, my son has responded significantly to the gluten-free diet. He was never clinically depressed, but he certainly was not a happy child, and had a great deal of anger. Away from gluten these past four months, he's a happy, coping boy. This can certainly happen with your sister. Bet it will...... :)

No no no no, you do not want manic anorexia, twas a living hell.

I'd like to be maybe a part-time anorexic. Turn it off and on every month or so, for those frequent five pounds....... <_<

I was trying to see if there is research that showed celiac disease manifesting with depression as a symptom. She has none of the GI symptoms...

The research won't be hard to find.

I only had minor and very ignoreable symptoms only until the severe depression started in '96.

And I think it's fair to say celiac made for a lifelong mild depression prior to that.

<ahhhhh the wonders of self-medication>

Prozac did nothing for me, bad or good. In fact, it was only one that didn't provide a decent 2 or 3 wks before becoming ineffective.

Only gfcfsfvfyf etc was effective. ;):)

Dear tom,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :) I hope you treat yourself to something nice! Blowing out that candle for Richard's sister should help get her going on the right track. I have not been on the computer much lately, because I have been going to the hairdresser. Pulling out the black dye has taken a lot of work! :lol: Tomorrow, I will finally get to do the actual hair dying and highlights. My stylist is also doing layers to make it look fuller.

All I know is that multivariate analysis of variance is used when you have several dependent variables.

Wilks' lambda rings a bell for MANOVA with me. But really I have no idea. Maybe look for Wilks' in your stats package. Good luck. It all sounds very painful. :blink:

Are there groin phaeries? If so, Perhaps I can enlist help from one of them, as (yet another instance where the subjects on our thread suddenly mirror my real-life content) Sophie has come home from her school hockey tournament with--you guessed it--a pulled groin. The bane of goalies.... :( So, I be needin' some pharies with groinal experience! :rolleyes::lol:

Exactly the same situation with my mom. Her magic bullet, finally, came with Effexor. She's been on it for eight years, very successfully.

No, no!........Not my sis, but thank you for the good wishes! My dad had his big cardiac arrest almost three years ago, and while he lost quite a section of working heart area, he recovered very well. we were all lucky! :)

      Celiac attack confusion and anxiety

      Hi all ! Can a celiac attack be so intense that it causes your entire body to work in reverse? Meaning really bad pain,  neuropathy and muscle,  jaw pain,  the stomach issues , Horrible anxiety and confusion??  I had a Tums and you would think I ate poison. My jaw and stomach did not like it . Not the norm for me. Things that are simple are just out of control. Anyone ever have this happen??  I'm trying to figure out what I ate or did to bring on a celiac like attack. I had an idea before but yesterday I didn't have any gluten unless it was in a medication ?! Any positive suggestions ??  Thank you

It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.

      Tammy, in the food industry, "gluten free" doesn't mean the same thing as "no gluten". As Scott explained, the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) allows food companies to use the "gluten-free" label as long as the product does not contain more than 20 ppm (parts per million) of gluten. This number is based on studies the FDA did years ago to determine the reaction threshold for those with celiac disease. And the 20 ppm figure works for the majority of celiacs. There are those who are more sensitive, however, who still react to that amount. There is another, stricter standard known as "Certified Gluten Free" which was developed by a third party organization known as GFCO which requires not more than 10 ppm of gluten. So, when you see "GFCO" or "Certified Gluten Free" labels on food items you know they are manufactured with a stricter standard concerning gluten content. Having said all that, even though you may read the disclaimer on a food item that says the spices may contain wheat, barley or rye (the gluten grains), you should be able to trust that the amount of gluten the spices may contain is so small it allows the total product to meet the requirements of gluten free or certified gluten free labeling. I hope this helps.

      As soon as I see gluten free I read the labels. I always find stuff that I cannot have on the products them selfs. Like spices, when the labels says  everything listed and then after like say garlic salt then the next thing is spices. When it says that that can contain wheat and other things I can’t have..
