I can't tell you where I met him yet, but it was last summer......and you guys will die.

....desparately trying to think back to last summer..... Don't keep us hanging too long on this one..... :P

My grandma used to call her umbrella this...but she said BUMBERSHOOT. We'll have to confer with Nikki, as I vaguely remember it being an English expression.....

Yep--you all are right on the spelling--I just wrote what I remembered her saying. ;)

...omG the sudden panic when realizing the tub had been 'filling' for 20-30min!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily the bathroom floor is a bit concave. Maybe 70% of the floor had an inch to inch & a half of water.

Coincidence...I think not :)

So......I think they've gone from thinking I'm a lesbian now (Gail and Jenn have sleepovers here to get out of their various oppressive housing states) to just a plain old SLUT :lol:

Ha--way to keep 'em guessing

Well we just got back from the Hospital and she is sooo cute! Lydia that is. She has a head full of dark brown hair. I love her.

She sounds adorable! :D

I JUST this very second.........after ALL THIS TIME...........just this VERY millisecond looked at Janet's user name - which I've always pronounced and seen as "Darn two-ten."

and JUST this minute........I realized that it's "darn tootin" and I am the biggest loser lame-brain that there is.

Not the biggest loser--I never got it till now either

Gah!!! there's no K in that word!!!! I must speak up lest all of Sillyville adopts it erroneously! (You already got Julie!)

The site has Skijoring, but I've heard of it as both Skijourning & Skijorning before.

Tom, do you not realized that the mispelled words, or typos, make the phunniest of words in the Vortex, crikeys the OMG thread has an entire dictionary of made up words.

I like Skijorking much better, that extra "k" gives it a little extra something. :D

Julie- I've been thinking this for awhile- I think we're related :P:D I love being an auntie too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister and BIL and FIL all refer to me as Auntie Mame....they were all over Sunday for Kurt';s birthday and somehow I went from sitting on the couch with the adults to upstairs judging the booty shaking competition on my bed with four kids. (ROLL EYES) (ROLL EYES)

Do they call you Auntie Bev too? I'm Auntie Julie :D

I think we are related, must be our childhood enthusiasm.......er immaturity??

A friend of mine called me the kid whisperer, because they just flock to me. I guess I speak their language and apparently so do you Auntie Mame :lol::lol:

Tom's bath flood coinciding with the 2000 post???........yes, it's only after the event you piece it all together......

2,000 posts....These things happen.

PEOPLE!!!!!! The rollover of the MSD (most significant digit) (or for the math-impaired, the two) can and will happen NUMerous times.

The matched 1999 is a singu-frrrrreakin-larity!!!!!!

(I'm afraid that'll be TRULY understood only by Janet, Jess & and mathletic kibbitzers)

The flood was yesterday, on 1999.

Today's 2000 has been uneventful thus far.

Well ok, I did almost get a drop of yolk on my fav sweater an hour ago.

I sh*t myself when I farted and I\'m worried it will eat through the chair!

*snort*

I'm glad it wasn't old hat to y'all.

When I read through it I had tears not halfway thru & and it just builds & builds.

Still, the I need to wipe my ass w/ a snowcone is my fav sentence, but the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Tom! the fluids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dear gawd, man, drink more of the phaerie! gitcher paints out! cut off your ear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now why didn't I think of that??

Commencing a small tipple.

And to the dogs I go.

Mackey left Braeburn just 19 minutes ahead of Anderson. Both had the obligatory eight hours of rest there. One hundred miles to go for them. Third place is up for grabs. Brent Sass blew through Carmacks without resting. Michelle and David Dalton left about four hours later, five minutes apart, after resting.

Go, Michelle!!

I think your reaction is very natural and completely understandable. I believe I would have the exact same feelings if I were in your position. I sincerely hope that you two are next! What a lucky baby that will be to have the two of you.

I think I may have pink eye. It's all goopy and running and red. I am a basket of bacteria! Good thing Ryan has a superhuman immune system. In the last year I've been coughing, sneezing, puking, excessively pooping ( ) in vicinity and nary an illness on his part. All my immune system does is attack my intestine and pancreas - I'm jealous :P ! Lets hope any kids we have inherit his smart immune system and not my confused one.

I showed Ryan the Yukon Quest website and he's gotten very into it as well. He's been given me updates and reminiscing about his childhood trip to the Yukon.

Hi Alex! Hi Laura! hi Judy!

This reminds me of an actual true story . . . I guy that I worked with was living with his girlfriend. She apparently made some screaming hot chili. I don't know if he loved it that way or was afraid of hurting her feelings . . . so he apparently ate a lot of it. Later that night, he sat on the toilet with his insides screaming for mercy. Apparently he passed out from the pain, fell off of the toilet, his private parts were caught on the seat as he fell . . . and lacerated his manliness. He had to go to the emergency room for stitches.

If this is true...ow ow ow :(

Been off this forum for years. Is it that important that you get an official diagnosis of something? It appears like you had a trigger (wheat, gluten, whatever) and removing it has resolved your symptom. I can't speak for you, but I had known what my trigger was (gluten) years before my diagnosis I would just stay gluten-free and get on with my symptom free condition. I was diagnosed over 20 years ago and have been symptom free only excluding wheat, rye and barley. I tolerate all naturally gluten free whole foods including things like beans which actually helps to form the stools.
    • trents
No coincidence. Recent revisions to gluten challenge guidelines call for the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten (about the amount in 4-6 slices of wheat bread) for a minimum of 3 weeks. If possible, I would extend that two weeks to ensure valid testing.
    • SilkieFairy
Thank you both for the replies. I decided to bring back gluten so I can do the blood test. Today is Day #2 of the Challenge. Yesterday I had about 3 slices of whole wheat bread and I woke up with urgent diarrhea this morning. It was orange, sandy and had the distinctive smell that I did not have when I was briefly gluten free. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but the brain fog is back and I feel very tired.

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Interesting Reading: Clinical trial: B vitamins improve health in patients with coeliac disease living on a gluten-free diet https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19154566/ Safety and effectiveness of vitamin D mega-dose: A systematic review https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34857184/ High dose dietary vitamin D allocates surplus calories to muscle and growth instead of fat via modulation of myostatin and leptin signaling https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38766160/ Safety of High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31746327/ Vitamins and Celiac Disease: Beyond Vitamin D https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11857425/ Investigating the therapeutic potential of tryptophan and vitamin A in modulating immune responses in celiac disease: an experimental study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40178602/ Investigating the Impact of Vitamin A and Amino Acids on Immune Responses in Celiac Disease Patients https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10814138/

Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
