im here catching up. im thinking that i will need a pair of roller blades at the rate this thread grows.

some of the concerts i went to back then , besides the "day-on-the-green" ones at the oakland coliseum, were genesis at the berkeley greek theater, greatful dead in san francisco!

Day On The Green #2: Foreigner, Loverboy, Scorpions, Iron Maiden (July 18, 1982).

Day On The Green #1: Journey, Triumph, Eddie Money, Bryan Adams, Night Ranger (July 30, 1983).

Gary Moore was originally slated to appear but was replaced on the bill by Night Ranger.

Day On The Green #3: The Police, The Fixx, Madness, Oingo Boingo, and The Thompson Twins (September 3, 1983).

you are a wacky bunch and i would like to thank you for welcoming me in to your lives ! :)

Whoa, what a blast from the past the above bands

Welcome Kissey Face!!!

Amanda! Are you fifty, or somefin'? The Doors were a little before my time, even...but I vaguely remember hearing psychedelic-type stuff, and perhaps Jim Morrison's drunken slur, coming from my big bro's room...and interesting smells......

I mainly listen to Classic Rock. I grew up listening to it and really have grown fond of the bands from the 60's and 70's. Those are what are mainly on my IPOD.

:o:lol:

I'm a little embarassed about the concerts I have seen, well not all of them, but many  :

First concert I ever saw, The Jacksons, Victory Tour (WOO HOO!!!)

Then I frequented pretty much every 80s hair band concert that came to town...multiple times....i.e. Van Halen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Great White, Whitesnake, White Lion, Poison, Cinderella, Scorpions, Queensryche, Skid Row.

I also saw Jimmy Buffet, The Beach Boys, Depeche Mode, and Howard Jones.

My first concert was Aerosmith and I was in the 5th row, center. It was wonderful. I think saw Goo-Goo Dolls at a college campus before they got big. I have seen Journey twice now, Forgeiner, Peter Frampton, BonJovi.

Bon Jovi is in concert in March in Philly but I can't go.

I would love to see Van Halen though :)

I told her that if my husband and I die suspiciously they should investigate the children as they seem too eager to move to her house.

We will be visiting them for spring break . . . Boston area . . . where I'll also be pooping in on Bev if she's not off tanning somewhere.

Won't THAT be fun!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

Any friend Kissey of Susie's is a ki friend of ours!!!!!

But, of course, you must realize you will now be held responsible for any future 'lost post' by Susie.

I do believe <cntl> Z would've rescued the last one (or menu'd Edit | Undo ).

Gawd!!!! I am so much older than all of you :( Maybe broadcasting my age on the statistics page yesterday wasn't the best idea.....

I cut my teeth on 70's stuff--lots of Motown, 3 Dog Night, Elton, Chicago, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan (Deacon Blues--possibly the greatest song ever).

"Your Song" by Elton John reminds me of walking home from school with my best friend, Sandy, before I had a care in the world

Music played such a huge role in my life growing up and even as an adult. When my older son was born (1981), I had my transistor radio (!) with me at the hospital and "The Tide is High" by Blondie will always remind me of that night.

Yep--hearing a song will put me back to a place in time.....

Kissey --we're glad you're here, too :D

Old, no! Wise, yes! ;)

I may be the only one here who's never been to a concert. I get all sweaty and anxious in large crowds. I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm claustrophobic but I like to have easy access to an exit. Wherever I go somewhere the first thing I do is look for my closest exit and then for a backup exit. Jeez, this didn't seem so weird until I put it in writing.:ph34r:

And if it was possible to sound any dorkier, I went through a mildly rebellious stage when I was 19 and I knew one thing that would anger my dad the most was to take up smoking, but my first attempt ended up in me gagging and vomiting in front of a bunch of smokers. We're not even talking about MJ here (that's a entirely different embarrassing story), just plain old cigarettes. I still feel nauseated when I'm around someone smoking.

Morning David - pull yer finger out will yer (NOT PULL MY FINGER ;) ...You really don't wanna do that)

Deacon Blues IS great, but when I think Steely Dan, 1st thought is Kid Charl<oh crap!!! Why couldn't I think of one I can spell!!> Charlemagne(?)

3 Dog Night reminds me of learning their "Joy to the World" on sax, and how a couple yrs later, my lil bro (trumpet student) excitedly announced he "has a SOLO, w/ another guy".

Neil Diamond!! Oh where to start .. . .."Hot August Night" was HUGE!

One of my 1st kiddie-crushes was Caroline somethin, right when Sweet Caroline was all over the radio.

Growing up IN Chicago, heard plenty. 1st album SO differently ROCKin compared to the post-Terry Kath (suicide) sappy tendencies (Just You 'n' Me). In betw, SO many greaaaaaaaaaat songs!

"Feelin' Stronger Every Day" was another of my personal theme songs last summer as I went thru the awakening of getting my life back. <gittin a lil verklempt now>

And PATTI!!!!! You're not "so much older than" ALL OF US!!!

Just a few yrs over me & I guess we now know that Scooter's our Senior Silly??

ELTON!!!!!!

I STILL occasionally listen to some tracks on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album.

His phrasing & . . ..does it make sense to say 'musical enunciation' as opposed to the actual words? (Oh .. ...nope .. .guess not) well there's SOMEthing in the vocals impeccable and unsurpassed janetdarn it!!!

Hear, hear. Somefin' about the way that man sings...with such emotion and believability, passionate piano-playing....

He is definitely on my Top Five People With Whom You'd Like to Spend an Hour. :D

Might be time I get back on the OMG thread to see what long&winding road might eliminate these ridiculously detrimental 'phume sensitivities.

No need, Tom. I'll ask Jack when he's home from school...get back to ya...

Okay, gotta chime in, here.....Much prefer David.

Bit of trivia: David Lee Roth is reknowned for being the absolute WORST tipper in celebrityville.

...Hmmm....cheap......but he can so command a stage!

I do believe <cntl> Z would've rescued the last one (or menu'd Edit | Undo ).

Tom!! How does this work? You mean, I lose a post, I quickly hit CONTROL and upper case Z at the same time, and it comes back? Can't be that easy...can it?

Me, too, Patti! We had music playing in my house growing up literally all the time. My mom plays piano, my dad the uke, and if they weren't playing we were listening to Duke Ellington, Frank, Gershwin, big swing bands...

My dad had musical numbers he'd write for his show that ran in the 60's and 70's, and I used to watch him while perched on the stairway, as he practiced an intricate soft-shoe or lip-synced some Al Jolson....Then he'd come to the dinner in full black-face, and we'd tell him not to get makeup on his serviette...:lol:

That and my nutritionist also said that drinking cider is one of the worst drink choices for me, given that I have candida overgrowth.  She said the combination of the alcohol and sugar would be very likely to worsen my candida problem.  She suggested that if I drink, I go for clear vodka, either neat or with a splash of cranberry.   So in summary, I am giving ciders a rest.  Whether it's a gluten risk or sugars and yeast overgrowth, its just not worth it.

Thank you for the information ill will definitely bring it into practice .

While plain, pure tea leaves (black, green, or white) are naturally gluten-free, the issue often lies not with the tea itself but with other ingredients or processing. Many flavored teas use barley malt or other gluten-containing grains as a flavoring agent, which would be clearly listed on the ingredient label. Cross-contamination is another possibility, either in the facility where the tea is processed or, surprisingly, from the tea bag material itself—some tea bags are sealed with a wheat-based glue. Furthermore, it's important to consider that your reaction could be to other substances in tea, such as high levels of tannins, which can be hard on the stomach, or to natural histamines or other compounds that can cause a non-celiac immune response. The best way to investigate is to carefully read labels for hidden ingredients, try switching to a certified gluten-free tea brand that uses whole leaf or pyramid-style bags, and see if the reaction persists.

This is a challenging and confusing situation. The combination of a positive EMA—which is a highly specific marker rarely yielding false positives—alongside strongly elevated TTG on two separate occasions, years apart, is profoundly suggestive of celiac disease, even in the absence of biopsy damage. This pattern strongly aligns with what is known as "potential celiac disease," where the immune system is clearly activated, but intestinal damage has not yet become visible under the microscope. Your concern about the long-term risk of continued gluten consumption is valid, especially given your family's experience with the consequences of delayed diagnosis. Since your daughter is now at an age where her buy-in is essential for a gluten-free lifestyle, obtaining a definitive answer is crucial for her long-term adherence and health. Given that she is asymptomatic yet serologically positive, a third biopsy now, after a proper 12-week challenge, offers the best chance to capture any microscopic damage that may have developed, providing the concrete evidence needed to justify the dietary change. This isn't about wanting her to have celiac; it's about wanting to prevent the insidious damage that can occur while waiting for symptoms to appear, and ultimately giving her the unambiguous "why" she needs to accept and commit to the necessary treatment. This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some people are naturally IGA deficient, and if this is the case, then certain blood tests for celiac disease might be false-negative, and other types of tests need to be done to make an accurate diagnosis. The article includes the "Mayo Clinic Protocol," which is the best overall protocol for results to be ~98% accurate.
    • Scott Adams
Welcome to the community! Generally, for a gluten challenge before celiac disease blood tests, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is considered safe and should not interfere with your antibody results. The medications you typically need to avoid are those like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or naproxen (Aleve) that can cause intestinal irritation, which could potentially complicate the interpretation of an endoscopy if you were to have one. However, it is absolutely crucial that you confirm this with either your gastroenterologist or your surgeon before your procedure. They know the specifics of your case and can give you the definitive green light, ensuring your surgery is comfortable and your celiac testing remains accurate. Best of luck with your surgery tomorrow
