im here catching up. im thinking that i will need a pair of roller blades at the rate this thread grows.

some of the concerts i went to back then , besides the "day-on-the-green" ones at the oakland coliseum, were genesis at the berkeley greek theater, greatful dead in san francisco!

Day On The Green #2: Foreigner, Loverboy, Scorpions, Iron Maiden (July 18, 1982).

Day On The Green #1: Journey, Triumph, Eddie Money, Bryan Adams, Night Ranger (July 30, 1983).

Gary Moore was originally slated to appear but was replaced on the bill by Night Ranger.

Day On The Green #3: The Police, The Fixx, Madness, Oingo Boingo, and The Thompson Twins (September 3, 1983).

Amanda! Are you fifty, or somefin'? The Doors were a little before my time, even...but I vaguely remember hearing psychedelic-type stuff, and perhaps Jim Morrison's drunken slur, coming from my big bro's room...and interesting smells......

I mainly listen to Classic Rock. I grew up listening to it and really have grown fond of the bands from the 60's and 70's. Those are what are mainly on my IPOD.

I'm a little embarassed about the concerts I have seen, well not all of them, but many :

First concert I ever saw, The Jacksons, Victory Tour (WOO HOO!!!)

Then I frequented pretty much every 80s hair band concert that came to town...multiple times....i.e. Van Halen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Great White, Whitesnake, White Lion, Poison, Cinderella, Scorpions, Queensryche, Skid Row.

I also saw Jimmy Buffet, The Beach Boys, Depeche Mode, and Howard Jones.

My first concert was Aerosmith and I was in the 5th row, center. It was wonderful. I think saw Goo-Goo Dolls at a college campus before they got big. I have seen Journey twice now, Forgeiner, Peter Frampton, BonJovi.

Bon Jovi is in concert in March in Philly but I can't go.

I would love to see Van Halen though

I cut my teeth on 70's stuff--lots of Motown, 3 Dog Night, Elton, Chicago, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan (Deacon Blues--possibly the greatest song ever).

"Your Song" by Elton John reminds me of walking home from school with my best friend, Sandy, before I had a care in the world

Music played such a huge role in my life growing up and even as an adult. When my older son was born (1981), I had my transistor radio (!) with me at the hospital and "The Tide is High" by Blondie will always remind me of that night.

Yep--hearing a song will put me back to a place in time.....

I may be the only one here who's never been to a concert. I get all sweaty and anxious in large crowds. I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm claustrophobic but I like to have easy access to an exit. Wherever I go somewhere the first thing I do is look for my closest exit and then for a backup exit. Jeez, this didn't seem so weird until I put it in writing.

And if it was possible to sound any dorkier, I went through a mildly rebellious stage when I was 19 and I knew one thing that would anger my dad the most was to take up smoking, but my first attempt ended up in me gagging and vomiting in front of a bunch of smokers. We're not even talking about MJ here (that's a entirely different embarrassing story), just plain old cigarettes. I still feel nauseated when I'm around someone smoking.

His phrasing & . . ..does it make sense to say 'musical enunciation' as opposed to the actual words? (Oh .. ...nope .. .guess not) well there's SOMEthing in the vocals impeccable and unsurpassed janetdarn it!!!

Me, too, Patti! We had music playing in my house growing up literally all the time. My mom plays piano, my dad the uke, and if they weren't playing we were listening to Duke Ellington, Frank, Gershwin, big swing bands...

My dad had musical numbers he'd write for his show that ran in the 60's and 70's, and I used to watch him while perched on the stairway, as he practiced an intricate soft-shoe or lip-synced some Al Jolson....Then he'd come to the dinner in full black-face, and we'd tell him not to get makeup on his serviette...

madness... im sitting at my dining room table waiting for the cable tv installer to come and finally hook me up to the boob tube... so, i decide to come visit my new fav place... im reading along... looking for my blades... trying to pay attention to the conversations... and i hear this bubbly sound !!!!
