Morning, Sillies!

Canada's women's soccer team is presently playing China..... . . think we may get badly beaten... . .China is one strong team..... . .

Hi, Jin! What a beautiful little rabbit!

"May you live in interesting times." For those of us who moderate here, it has been "interesting times" for the last 24 hours or so.

Mygawd.........It's not ME causing you trouble, is it, PeOter?.... . . . ..... :huh::unsure:

... . ...is it something I said??... . . . . . ..... ;)<_<

I want to second Judy's thank you to you, PeOter. Moderating is a thankless job, and this forum is very lucky to have you. :)

Great that you've got help on the way at your store. This will keep the freight train at bay.

I went for my annual follow-up visit with the ophthalmologist today. I had some problems with Open Original Shared Link which required minor laser surgery in February of 2004. Today's examination shows no change from four years ago. :) (So far, this is the only sign of complications--an enlarged blood vessel in one eye.)

Excellent, Peoter....your eyes are holding steady after four years! I'm always holding my breath when I go to my yearly appointment with my diabetes eye specialist, waiting for news of the first complication signs. So far, so good..... . . . .

PeOter, methinks you should put up an avatar a la Jess and Janet - - a big shot of your eye, so we can see how healthy it is.:lol:

Canada just scored!!!!!!! :):)

o. k. already you are THE QUEEN . i'll give you that one ....... or is it a voting thing .. queens could be voted in ......no? do we need campagaining ... give us your "if i am elected" , speach.....and get ready with your thanks for voting me in aceptace one too.

There is quite a complex system of ascention here, Jo. Quite an involved process involving lineage charts, DNA testing....... . . eventually, it ends up being whoever is the first poster of the flipover page at the hundred mark.... . . . . .

China scored..............! Tied at one..................... . . . . . :o:unsure:

Dropping in for a quick visit. I'm current on reading, but don't have much silly in me to share. There is an ancient Chinese curse, I believe, that goes something like, "May you live in interesting times." For those of us who moderate here, it has been "interesting times" for the last 24 hours or so.

I was going to mention today how there are some major egos and attitudes around the forum lately . . . yowsa . . . and as I have been following some of the hostility dialogue, I find things phunnie that I probably shouldn't :P Oh well, my sense of humoUr has gotten me into trouble before, I'm sure it will again.

Peter glad the eye appt went well . . . so maybe you can start paying your doc bills in dog food.

MAYBE you can heal his dog with your food and he can heal your eye bulbs......... yes i meant 'bulbs' trying to bring some humor here.

love all you guys

judy

:lol::lol: - Totally tickled my tummy that Judy had to tell us that she meant to say 'bulbs'!!!

I want to second Judy's thank you to you, PeOter. Moderating is a thankless job, and this forum is very lucky to have you. :)

Wow . . . way to totally ignore the other moderators on this thread, Emily!!! Do you really want to do that in these "troubled" times??? For my part, I think ALL of you moderators do a fantastic job!!! :brown-noserface:

(Did you see how I did that, Emily??? You just don't mention names. You group them all together and then you don't get in trouble for leaving anyone out!! Remember a little less than a year ago when Bev left me out of a "What everyone was doing at the party" list . . . see how I still haven't gotten over it?? . . .:lol::lol: )

PeOter, methinks you should put up an avatar a la Jess and Janet - - a big shot of your eye, so we can see how healthy it is.:lol:

:lol: - Yes!! Go fer it!!!

Em - Love the new Gusatar!!

Jin - Boomer looks adorable!! - My neighbor (I'm guessing mid to late 50's) broke down and got herself a bunny not too long ago . . . she's a sweetheart . . . both the neighbor and the bunny.

P.S. How is Amanda's husband doing? The last I was on here, he had just lost his friend in a car wreck and was severely depressed. I hope he is doing better. Such things are difficult to recover from. I have some great things I got in e-mail that I will try to post soon for everyone.

Well I watched the opening ceremonies, unfortunately my local station had a lot of technical difficulties due to a mjor storm we had last night and the sound kept going out, I was quite bummed. But WOW what a visual feast for the eyes it was.

Emily, what was the thing you were talking about the one in the middle controlling it?? I kept looking for something in the middle, but had no idea what I was looking for :lol::lol:

:lol: You know that unbelievable grid with the hundreds of moving squares that went like a wave, then spirals, then Chinese characters, all incredibly timed and flowing? Of course we know NOW that each of those squares had a person under it, moving it up and down with staggering precision, as they all burst up and began waving at the very end. Well, I thought at first that the squares were being moved by a computer somewhere....it never occurred to me that people could actually do this, so precisely. During the performance, our announcer mentioned that it was individual people under each square, kneeling, crouching, then standing and crashing back down at the exact moments needed.

Now, was I just a dolt? Did everyone else know from the very beginning that there were li'l people under those things?:huh:

I think she's been on the news, although not recently. I remember a story about a woman in (Snohomish county?) who rescued a horse that she felt was show quality.

Volleyball here as well. My friends daughter plays VB at almost a professional level. He was telling me about the incredible subtleties that make excellent players - varying the delivery position by millimeters, looking one direction while sending the ball elsewhere, that sort of thing. I want to see if I can spot any of these tricks.

I am doing a gluten challenge right now and I bought vital wheat gluten so I can know exactly how much gluten I am getting. One tablespoon is 7g so 1½ tablespoons of Vital Wheat Gluten per day will get you to 10g You could add it to bean burgers as a binder or add to hot chocolate or apple sauce and stir.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6. Liquid Iodine, Phosphatidyl Choline, Q10, Selenium, D and DHEA.     Choline supplemented as phosphatidylcholine decreases fasting and postmethionine-loading plasma homocysteine concentrations in healthy men +

@catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.
