Gooooood Morning, Peeps!

Gads....unloading flowers @ 6 am. . . ....Jyaghnutt, you are a good volunteer mom, as well .. . .....!

Just got off the phone with my dad.... . . . ..he sounds almost TOO good. :) I think he's on a bit of a morphine high, but it was great to hear him chatting away about Charlotte, his older nurse who is a big fan. Twice in the night he called her for help, and unfortunately kept mistakenly referring to her as "Harlot". ....... <_<

Good thing she's a fan...

No problem with heat, but occasional cold moments when the doors to the smoking area outdoor patio opened. Did I mention that it was pouring and windy?

Goodness, Rob brings atmospheric challenges along with him, doesn't he? Fitting, methinks. . . .... :D

I want to read Wake, and I just know DD would be fascinated in it, and in Rob's character Kaitlin, who is an angst-ridden fifteen-year old teen. . . . ....

The Ripper bought Flash Forward at the event, and is halfway through. He was disappointed not to have Rob's sig on the front page, so last night I opened the book and wrote in my signature, with an "All my best".... . .

 It is somehow not the same, I am told. . . . ....

so - am outside mowing the lawn, pulling weeks....

I just can NAE handle it without many, many fuzzies  >

You could always come and pull some of my Maori weeks while you're about it and I'll make oodles of fuzzies (whatever the heck they is--got in too late for that one :( )

SHROOMIE- - you really IS going to Tahoe??????

Yes, I really, really is, for de summer, er winter, substituting warm for bl..dy cold, but on the Nevarda side, not CA

Fantastic.......we are doing some type of trail work there at end of June......can we stay at yer house? I think there'll only be.........30 of us, or so  (I'm not actually going, but may send the Weezel, as my boss has asked  )

Well, suuure, 30 bodies in a two-bed two-barf condo sounds just about right, and I'm sure the HOA wouldn't mind at all :o

Um......does anyone know where Shroomie actually from?

Wheresoever Shroomie is, there she be from, only she don't sound like she from anywhere when she's there

This just begs to be asked . . . Shroomer, do you have an obsession wif . . . llamas???

Whine!!!How many darned pages do I have to go back to "get" this???

Shroom! Roll some o' this errant flora up and smoke it. . . ...see whot happens, then.... . ......could be magical! '

Peeples already think I is smoking de flora, but I leave that to my neyba, he does it so well, grows 'is own and all---hey, wait a minute, mebbe that IS what's growing all over me yard, escaped out his bedroom window (along with the delectable aromas.) Whoop de doodle!. Actually, don't need to grow or smoke it, get whacked out just from what he lets loose. Throw in the 'shrooms, it's no wonder I'm not out there pulling weeds

Hmmm.....nutting very exciting.

Loads of laundry 1

Dog walks 1

House vacumned 1

Chick movies watched 3

This does not sound like cat play! We need to find you something more bodacious., more ribald, more outrageous, more just plain FUN. Vacuuming and laundry!! blech! Try not to do those things.

Barb arrived and she is loverly and from our conversation at dinner, this lady is one of us. Wheat allergy, like heck. She was full-blown.

Night all, have a good day. I is pooped. No, not that kind.

Shroom, seeing celiacs behind every bush :)

Can nae quote any part of this--loved the whole thing--especially the part about yer dad sounding ebullient and calling his nurse "Hartlot" Great news!!

<snort> about YOU signing Jack's book   Yeah, I'm sure it wasn't quite the same............

Yep--Rob certainly does bring wif him some interesting weather--thanks fer the pic, PeOter. :)

Gads Jan-it :o Unloading phlowers.....just being UP at that time is h-anus!! :P

So.....in other news.....as we all know, and are undoubtedly bored to tears wif by now, I have been enjoying dairy food again--especially ice cream. The last week, I've been awakened by stomach pain at 3AM (like freakin clockwork <_< ), so I contacted the company and found out that indeed the ice cream is gluten-free (I did check before trying) but it's thickened wif.....TAPIOCA!!!! Didn't see that coming--twas not on the label but the symptom is bang on.

Back to the drawing board......

Bev-really....sounds like you are preparing for a dang-good time!!! Hope you have tons of fun, take all you can get.

I've read Flash Forward and Really, reAlly enjoyed it! Next trip to the liBrary, I'm going to look for another. Right now I am reading Koontz' Odd Hours. It's the fourth book about Odd Thomas. So far not nearly as good as the last 3, but still enjoyable. Love Koontz. YOu never know what you're going to get with him.....

Em-ery......so glad about your Dad. Your tales about him always gives me a chuckle :D

Hope all is well in Psillyville. It's raining here but warm. I am forced to catch up on housework (ugh). I may go out to play in the rain later... ^_^ .....get all wet and dirty. I'm planning on getting fish for the pond next week. How long before I get bored with them? I dreamed last night about having Koi....rather large ones. I was trying to train to come to the edge of the pond to get fed by whistling. The food was little pebbley things....but when I threw them in the water they swam away. Woke up too soon to know if the fish ever responded to my whistles

No more dok-tore visits for a while. Yay!!! I refused to make another app....just wanted to leave it open. Am severly tired of visiting there.

How's this for "work" . . . I'm being paid to attend the preschool's ice cream social . . . and I get an ice cream, too!!!

 This happens to me more and more as time goes on. . ...... . I am struck by two worlds colliding. Preschoolers have ice cream socials - - the seniors at my parents' retirement residence have ice cream socials. Both the very young and very old anxiously await these events....talk about them, plan for them. . . .....Day care providers organize "outings" for the kids, to museums, shopping plazas, parks - - so do the nursing homes. Games are played at both establishments -- for learning, socializing, retaining memory. There is now a Wii fit game at my parents' place, and they play just like wee kids. . . . ..

At both ends of life, a person is often in a diaper, being fed, babysat, helped on and off furniture. . .. ...

It recently came home to me with great poignancy when my great-niece saw me taking my dad to a hospital visit. I was putting the residence's fold-up wheelchair into my car trunk when she said, wide-eyed, "Oh! Grampa's got his own stroller that you can push him in!"

Jools needs to be here - - how can we get her back?? she is not at all feeling well - needs our prayers.........she really doz. :( (she would probably kill me for saying this but - - you do all know she has problems that are far more severe than celiac, right? )

But here is a "feel good" story for you . . . a friend of the family (Hubby's family) donated a kidney to a perfect stranger yesterday . . . she wanted to make a difference and this was how she decided to do it.

:o

My friend Sophie gave her kidney to her brother.....it's actually harder on the donor than the recipient, usually. what an incredible thing......

reminds me of that cheezey movie that I loved - Seven Pounds.......

Gah! POeter! I want a Toronto Blue Jay to appear in MY backyard!! Which one was it?? Roy Halladay? Matt Stairs? I would love to look outside my back window and see Cito Gaston sitting on my deck. . . . . . ..or in my ho' tub... . . . ...

On the upside I've just figured out that all the RNA in my freezer (the Punisher) isn't crap. We were having a technical difficulty that distorted the readings.

On the downside this means I gotta re-read 200 samples

@Gigi2025  Thank you for your interesting post.  Some of what you say chimes with something my gastroenterologist tells me - that he has clients who travel to France and find the same as you  - they will eat normal wheat baguette there without issue, for example.  His theory was he thought it might be to do with the locally sourced wheat being different to our own in the UK? But I have to say my own experience has been quite different. I have been to France twice since my diagnosis, and have been quite ill due to what was then (pre-2019)  poor labelling and cross-contamination issues.  My TTG test following my last visit was elevated - 'proof of the pudding', as we say in the UK!  It was not just a case of eating something like, say, shellfish, that disagreed with me - gluten was clearly an issue. I've also been to Italy to visit family a couple of times since my diagnosis.  I did not want to take any chances so kept to my gluten free diet, but whilst there what I did notice is that coeliacs are very well catered for in Italy, and many brands with the same ingredients in the UK are clearly marked on the front of their packaging that they are 'senza glutine'.  In the UK, you would have to find that information in the small print - or it puts people off buying it, so I am told!  So it seems to me the Italians are very coeliac aware - in fact, all children are, I believe, screened for coeliac disease at the age of 6.  That must mean, I guess, that many Italian coeliacs are actively avoiding gluten because, presumably, if they don't, they will fall ill?

Thank you both very much. I’m pretty familiar with the various tests, and my older two girls with official dxs have even participated in research on other tests as well. I just felt overwhelmed and shocked that these recent results (which I found pretty dang conclusive after having scott clean labs just six months ago) would still be considered inconclusive. Doc said we could biopsy in another six weeks because my daughter was actually way more upset than I anticipated about the idea of eating it for years before doing another biopsy. It doesn’t hurt her, but she’s afraid of how it may be hurting her in ways she can’t feel. She’s currently eating mini wheats for breakfast, a sandwich with lunch, and a side of pasta along with every dinner, so I’m hoping we’re meeting that 10g benchmark mentioned in that second article!

Have you tried a genetic test to look for Celiac genes?  No gluten challenge required.
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @ElisaAllergiesgluten, Have you tried going on a low histamine Paleo diet like the Autoimmune Protocol diet?  A low histamine AIP diet would help your body rid itself of the extra histamine it's making in response to allergies.  Are you Celiac as well?   Since we need more thiamine when we're stressed, adding Benfotiamine, a form of Thiamine Vitamin B 1, can help the body calm down it's release of histamine.  Benfotiamine improves Sailors' asthma.

Don't skimp on the gluten daily while undergoing the gluten challenge!
