...watching the semi- final of the world cup.

I think I shall miss the 'vuvuzela' when they're gone

Spain or Netherlands? Will not miss those swarms of bees. They give me a headache. Do enjoy the jersey swapping. :)

Where in Minnesota? I have lots of family there. Grandma was French Canadian

My mother was born in Appleton, MN in 1925. Her father grew up on the family farm near Mora, MN. The family moved to Washington, DC, in 1927, and then to Berkeley, CA, in 1930.

HEYYY! So did I! smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

What a phab time.. . .. . ..the Chicago river/Lake Michigan cruise with Leeeeesargh and her fantastic friend Chris (an honoUrary Psilly if there ever was one) followed by a terrific dinner @ Maggiano's. Our time went by just too quickly... . ..canna believe we were together the entire afternoon - - seemed like an hour. I really felt.... . ..I dunno, honoUred, methinks, that Lisa came all that way, still battered, trussed up and in some pain, to spend that time with us. Knowing Lisa a bit more now, I realize that this is just something that she would do. wub.gif

Walking to the restaurant, we passed by a real estate office that had pictures on the window of available condos and townhomes in the downtown Chicago area. We immediately picked out THEEE perfect Psilly haven, a lovely big brownstone that we could all throw our money into and where we could meet together several times a year for Psummits. $2,100,000.00. So let's start planning.... . .....

Glad you had fun! Maybe you could check on a condo in Oprah's building.I'm sure they would be just as economical as that brownstone.

Lets' see: Could probably get the brownstone for $2 mil. Figuring 25 psillies that would be about $80,000 each. Hmmmm...

Jess - check my math?

Not phunny. Tired and run down. Maybe I'm not eating enough, I don't know. Maybe it's cuz I work phull time, have 2 kids on summer break who fight non-stop and I have 9 cakes to do in the next month.... I am thankful for everything, for sure, I just need to learn a bit more balance

The tiny town I grew up in has it's annual festival this weekend. Tis called "Cheese Days" (No joke, the rival town across the freeway has "Egg Days"--I think we should all come together for a great "omlette days" weekend!! :P ). I have to work tomorrow, but I'm going to head up tomorrow night with my sister and brother. The one tavern in town shuts down the whole block and there's karaoke, lots of booze (which I will NOT be partaking due to last weekend!) and fabulous people watching. Tis the epitomy of hick-ville! Soooo much fun!! :D

OMG!!!!!!! Disaster at me weigh-in (Weight watchers)

I really went for it this week with exercise....in fact I ran a marathon and some when I added up what I did in a week.

Did I lose ANY weight???

Did I french toast!!!!!!!!!! :angry::angry::angry:

Harumphfffffffffff <_<

Next week you'll probably drop more. Jess is right, your muscles may be swollen. I try not to work out the day before I weigh in. Then I weigh in first thing in the morning, necked and after everything's left me body.... Must be as light as possible!! :P

GAHhhhh!!!... a friend took me to Costco (do you have these??)....I've spent waaaay too much

You got me thinking about a memorable phlat I had. As many of you know, in July of 1994 Jacquie and I drove to Alaska. Sixteen years ago, to the very day, we were here, on a Saturday morning:

img021.webp

The view is looking north from above the Arctic Circle into the Rock River valley. Our progress north was blocked by a phlooded out pherry at Phort McPherson, and so, late in the evening we were returning south. The Dempster Highway crosses the Rock River about 11 miles south of the NWT-Yukon border, and about 24 miles north of the Arctic Circle. There is a Yukon Government campground at Rock River, and we stopped so somebody could use the facilities. The roadway through the campground was fresh crushed gravel with sharp edges. You guessed it--the left rear tire goes phlat. It is quite late, although still light, but there are billions of skeeters. The campground is deserted, so I have to change the tire with their help.

Got the tire patched the next morning, but two weeks later, again on Saturday evening, that same tire was fatally punctured again. The location was the middle of the town of Jasper, Alberta, which was a much more pleasant place to deal with it.

I have not had another phlat since, and will probably jinx myselph by saying so.

What you’re describing really does not read like typical IBS-D. The dramatic, rapid normalization of stool frequency and form after removing wheat, along with improved tolerance of legumes and plant foods, is a classic pattern seen in gluten-driven disease rather than functional IBS. IBS usually worsens with fiber and beans, not improves. The fact that you carry HLA-DQ2.2 means celiac disease is absolutely possible, even if it’s less common than DQ2.5, and many people with DQ2.2 present later and are under-diagnosed. Your hesitation to reintroduce gluten is completely understandable — quality of life matters — and many people in your position choose to remain strictly gluten-free and treat it as medically necessary even without formal biopsy confirmation. If and when you’re ready, a physician can help you weigh options like limited gluten challenge, serology history, or documentation as “probable celiac.” What’s clear is that this wasn’t just random IBS — you identified the trigger, and your body has been very consistent in its response.

oh that's interesting... it's hard to say for sure but it has *seemed* like oats might be causing me some vague issues in the past few months. It's odd that I never really connect specific symptoms to foods, it's more of an all over feeling of unwellness after  eating them.  If it happens a few times after eating the same foods- I cut back or avoid them. for this reason I avoid dairy and eggs.  So far this has worked well for me.  oh, I have some of Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty Hot cereal and I love it! it's hard to find but I will be looking for more.  for the next few weeks I'm going to be concentrating on whole fresh fruits and veggies and beans and nuts and seeds. I'll have to find out if grains are truly necessary in our diet. I buy brown rice pasta but only eat that maybe once a month at most. Never liked quinoa. And all the other exotic sounding grains seem to be time consuming to prepare. Something to look at later. I love beans and to me they provide the heft and calories that make me feel full for a lot longer than a big bowl of broccoli or other veggies. I can't even tolerate the plant milks right now.  I have reached out to the endo for guidance regarding calcium intake - she wants me to consume 1000mgs from food daily and I'm not able to get to more than 600mgs right now.  not supposed to use a supplement until after my next round of testing for hyperparathyroidism.   thanks again- you seem to know quite a bit about celiac.
    • trents
Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SilkieFairy! You could also have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) as opposed to celiac disease. They share many of the same symptoms, especially the GI ones. There is no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out.
    • trents
Under the circumstances, your decision to have the testing done on day 14 sounds very reasonable. But I think by now you know for certain that you either have celiac disease or NCGS and either way you absolutely need to eliminate gluten from your diet. I don't think you have to have an official diagnosis of celiac disease to leverage gluten free service in hospitals or institutional care and I'm guessing your physician would be willing to grant you a diagnosis of gluten sensitivity (NCGS) even if your celiac testing comes up negative. Also, you need to be aware that oats (even gluten free oats) is a common cross reactor in the celiac community. Oat protein (avenin) is similar to gluten. You might want to look at some other gluten free hot  breakfast cereal alternatives.
