I had trouble remembering my own birthday when I was a kid. Not too big

on dates and anniversaries and the like, so it's nice that there are so many

internet and computer and phone things that remind you!

I'm pretty good with dates--terrible with names.

Alright guys i have a major delima......

So wasp #5 showed up whilst i was in the bathroom. I quickly shut the door and went to find something to clean it with. It was above my head and all i had was shower cleaner (works rather well for disabling them). I sprayed, it fell down, and i squished. But i failed to take into account all of my stuff on teh counter.

My retainer case (with said retainer in it) was sittng atop of a major spray doused area. I'm pretty sure none got in however, when i went to check there is a major possibility that it did.

How do i clean it so that it goes away? :( Right now its sitting in some hydrogen peroxide. I need my retainer and i can't afford to replace it.

JNBunnie1 Community Regular

What is UP with the wasps darlin? Yikes... Maybe baking soda/vinegar for the retainer?

shadowicewolf Proficient

I don't know, i think part of it is because of the warm/cold weather thing thats been going on. Then others in the building leaving the doors/windows open. I've contacted housing and thats the reason they gave me.

I'll do that after the peroxide. My mom said to just rinse it off really good, but i'd rather be on the safer side.

JNBunnie1 Community Regular

Bah humbug housing people!

I suggest baking soda & vinegar cuz it'll fizz.

Wolfie- give it a good rinse with running water then a good soak. It will be fine. It didn't have the stuff on it for more than a few minutes.

Okay :)

I tried the viniger and baking soda, that was a fun experiment  Right now the retainer is soaking in some water. I've got to go clean the case. I think with that one i can get away with some dishsoap on it.

Wow, you are way cooler than I would be!! That's at least flowers, maybe jewelry in my book. Or a book of course.

Very sweet though :)

Hope you had a lovely birthday. Good film?

I've always told Superman he didn't have to get me anything for my BD or Anniversary. He does so much for me year round. He'll usually get me a card and once in a while (when we have $ he'll knock my socks off (like the Christmas that he got me a gorgeous platinum, dark gold and light gold wedding ring and earring set covered in diamonds- I got him sweat pants that year). It's really important to me that I throw him a birthday party for his 1/2 a century birthday because last year when I was delirious I did't even remember his birthday - 1st time in 23 years I forgot). I have girlfriends that tell their BF's or DH's that they don't care about their special days but it's really a trap. I have no respect for them. I think your birthday call was very sweet and he didn't have to tell you it took fb to remind him. Anyway wishing you a HEALTHY year!!

Love,

Loey

So, I am getting close to 6,000 posts (this should be 5,998). Scott is a post ahead of me when I last checked.

Bad karma is already coming my way!

I drive a 12-year-old Toyota 4Runner. The hand brake cable is sticking. I use the hand brake all the time, because I shift for myself (manual transmission). 2000 was the last model year that you could get a 4Runner with a stick shift in North America. :(

We were going to bake pizza crusts Saturday, but the oven gave off a smell of burnt plastic and then died. Need to place a service call in the morning. The stove is an antique--we may have to finally consider replacing it.

And, as if we did not need more, the drain from the washing machine is backing up. I have checked the trap in the sink, and it is clear, so the problem is downstream from there. Need to call a plumber, too.

Got some laughs from watching Blazing Saddles on DVD this evening. Now to bed.

On the upside, when the oven catches fire you can put it out by running the washing machine....

P - That makes 3 - you should be in for a better day tomorrow for the phlip :)

Update on the retainer: it has been cleaned as much as it can be. Even the dentist couldn't get it this clean O.O

On other bad related news. One of the moles on my back has decided to start an exploration. Right now its a oval shape multicolored monster about the width of a penny. The next time i can get to the doc isn't until later in december, so i'll ask her if i can just have it removed. I had one on my inner thigh (was born with it apperenlty) and it decided to get bigger. Long story short, had it removed, the doctor at the time took the stiches out too early, the site busted open in class (stupid hard desk), back to the E.R., also discovered during this time i had a problem with neosporan and bandaids, now have a nice large scar. Ugh. I also know the dangers of moles very well. Its in a spot where i'll have to be careful once i have stiches. And of course i can't badage it myself or take care of it.... grrrr...

on yet another note, my computers display keeps crashing. It was just in the shop in august-september for over a month for a motherboard replacement.

Looks like I may be superb%$@# wife from hell on this one then :o

Been together 12 years so must be doing something right :)

I did work out early on that by 'give me some hints what you want' meant tell me exactly what you'd like, preferably in writing!

At Christmas we often get each other tickets, and then enjoy a concert or festival together the following summer. We don't really need more stuff...

Mark the plumber is on his way to see about the sink.

Tony, our appliance guy, is on his way tomorrow to see if the 35 year old Harvest Gold Stove is salvageable. Yup that is correct Harvest Gold! ColoUr alone should tell you how old it is

Sounds good, hopefully the fixes will be simple and not too expensive:)

Don't forget the thumb reports ! :)

Here it is! Post number 6,000 by yours truly. Scott is still at 5,997.

The plumber and his helper are here, trying to get to the root of the problem. Well, that is it, you see. The drain is partially obstructed by tree roots that the plumber's snake is having trouble getting through. This is a condo, so the part of the plumbing outside the walls is the responsibility of the corporation. Hmmm.

Be aware that putting your child on a gluten free diet ahead of an official celiac diagnosis will invalidate any attempt to arrive at an official diagnosis. If at some point in time after commencing a gluten free diet you wish to have your child tested for celiac disease, he/she would need to go back to eating normal amounts of gluten for weeks/months leading up to the testing date. And it is often the case that once gluten has been withdrawn for a significant amount of time, the reactions are much stronger when going back on it.

I'm investigating the possibility of having celiac disease. My kid has Coffins Lowery syndrome, a rare form of Austism, and constantly has these CVS episodes. We suspect it could be related to Gluten sensitivity or celiac. We just started the diet last week, and we'll keep an eye on any improvements.

@Scott Adams thank you again!  You definitely 100% get it!!  It's so helpful to know that what I'm going through is normal and part of the process. My endoscopy just got scheduled for June 10 (I'm going to be traveling or else they could have gotten me in earlier) so I have 2 more weeks of eating gluten.  I'm assuming I should just go to the endoscopy and start going gluten free as soon as it's done?  Or should I wait for the biopsy to come back just in case they have to repeat something?

Welcome to the forum, @NightRaven92! The symptoms you describe definitely align with celiac disease or at least NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). That, and the family history of celiac disease, certainly warrant being tested for it. The first stage of diagnosis involves blood tests looking for antibodies that are more or less specific to celiac disease. If the blood antibody testing is positive, there is usually a second level diagnostic procedure for confirmation involving an endoscopy/biopsy of the small bowel lining, looking for the damage caused by celiac disease. So, when you go to your appointment, I would suggest approaching your doctor this way to simplify the experience: 1. For six weeks I have been experiencing stomach cramps, diarrhea, feverishness, headaches and joint pain when I consume wheat products. 2. I have relatives with celiac disease and other autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto's thyroid disease. 3. I would like to be tested for celiac disease. Would you be willing to order the TTG-IGA antibody test and a total IGA test? TTG-IGA stands for "Tissue Transglutaminase Immunoglobulin A". Total IGA is also known as "Immunoglobulin A (IgA) test" (Note: the TTG-IGA is the "centerpiece" of celiac antibody testing. There are others but this one is the most important and the most popular one with physicians. But is also very important to have total IGA checked since if you are IGA deficient, it will produce artificially lower TTG-IGA scores and possible false negatives for this one and other IGA antibody tests as well.) It's very important that you not begin cutting back on gluten consumption before the antibody test blood draw.

Hey so on June 18th next month,I made an appointment next month with my doctor, because I think what could be causing my symptoms,is related to Celiac Disease. Here is my symptoms & stuff..so anyway autoimmune disease runs on my mom's side of the family. My grandma has an autoimmune disease related to her thyroid,& my aunt has Celiac Disease. I have been having my symptoms for almost 6 weeks now, from what I have noticed anyway. My symptoms are:Stomach pain/cramping,chronic diarrhea,I will feel feverish out of nowhere,I get alot of headaches & pain in my joints,& I noticed that literally after I consume anything with gluten in it,I will get nausea, sick to my stomach, pain in my abdomen & around my stomach,& not to mention the diarrhea that can often come out as very painful afterwards,if I consume gluten foods. I have not felt well in what feels like forever & that's of course why I made a dr appointment. Anyway I could really use some advice on this & how I could maybe bring my symptoms up with my dr without confusing her too much..thanks in advance..
