Hi All

Alot of us knew she had a dr apt on Nov 6th and don't think she's posted since then.

Does anyone know how she is or have contact info on her?

I just heard from Evie's daughter Shirley,

I haven't writen her back yet as wanted to post this ASAP.

I'm hoping she won't mind me posting her email to me.

I'm going to write her and ask her if she has time to print out the messages we write to Evie on this thread and take them to her in the hospital. I think they will cheer her up. Jim did that for me when I want in the hospital and it sure was wonderful.

Here is the email--

Hi-

Evie (My Mom) is in the hospital in Missouri with a serious intestinal infection, C-Difficile and there has been a problem with her kidney (she has only one). The infection has caused problems with the kidney, plus several other areas. She hopes to get to come home by mid week next week. The C-Dif is a very strong and BAD bacteria that takes over when too many antibiotics have been prescribed. She is doing better and the kidney is doing better - just a slow long process. I know she misses her friends on the forum and am sure when she gets home, you will be hearing from her again. I will let her know you are praying for her and thinking of her. Shirley

At least we know that she is in the hospital and her daughter is there.

Hi Friends.

This is the correspondence that Shirely and I had tonight.

I'm going to send the 'print topic' in a email for her to take to her mom as it wasn't on the main view topics tonight..

I'll try to keep an eye on it tomorrow and try to 'bump' it up for people to see who may not have been on line over the weekend.

love judy

Dear Shirley,

Thank you so very very much for posting when I know your so tired.

It means alot to all of us who care so much about your Mom.

She is a very strong lady but this is alot to try and fight off. I pray she can get home on Tuesday. She'll heal faster there and of course eat safely there. It's such a shame that the hospitals just don't 'get it' in helping hospitalized patients eat gluten-free food with no cross contamination. Have you been taking some food to her?

I just wish we knew this earlier, we could have sent some 'gluten-free' care baskets to her.

Home made soup from your Mom's freezer (if she has some made up) in a thermos would be good and mabe some hard boiled eggs. Shoot, just wish we closer to help you out. Well, Let's pray that she'll be out on Tuesday so she can eat safely.

Maybe others will have some ideas.

Tell you what, I'll do a post of the thread and send it in a email on the forum so it will be easy for you to just print and take to her. This way it will be so easy for you.

I'll go and post this now as there have been alot of well wishes posted.

Will you be staying on when your Mom gets out of the hospital?

Not sure where you live.

Take care and thanks for the post.

prayers coming for you and Evie.

Hi Judy-

This is Shirley-Visited Mom today and she has elevated blood pressure and is taking another Rx for that. She is swimming in pills! She appreciated your inquiry and is anxious to get home, maybe by Tuesday we hope. She is still very weak and not getting much she can eat at the hospital. Her cold seemed better and she is on oxygen but don't know if she will have that at home or not. Since her breathing is labored, maybe she will. Doc says she will be wearing the catheter home-Joy! Got to beat this bladder infection plus the nasty C-diff. Doc mentioned a pacemaker, but if the new heart Rx works, no pacemaker. Lots of health issues for her, but she is trying to be strong. Your thoughts and prayers help her and I will tell her you sent another reply. Go ahead and post and let others know how she is doing. She appreciates this forum a lot.

      Thanks for the reply.

What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.

Yes, I meant if you had celiac disease but went gluten-free before screening, your results would end up false-negative. As @trents mentioned, this can also happen when a total IGA test isn't done.

I found at Disney springs and Disney they have specialist that when told about dietary restrictions they come and talk to you ,explain cross contamination measures tsken and work with you on choices. Its the one place I dont worry once I've explained I have celiac disease.  Thier gluten free options are awesome.

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
