My last daughter:

Length - 21"

Weight - 6 lbs. 7 oz.

hair (lots or none) - little

time of birth (be sure to put what time zone you are guessing) - 9pm ish EST - we don't actually know

hours of labor - 2 seperate 6 hour inductions, never natural labor

c/s or vbac - c/s

My guess for Annika:

Length - 22"

Weight - 7 lbs.

Hair - little

Time of birth - 2:30am

hours of labor - 8

vbac

Annika's due 8/31 - I'm 36.5 weeks. Out of fairness I should probably add that I was very sick with Celiac when I had Tori and in no way had a normal pregnancy. I never went into labor at all and I was two weeks late with her.

Ok my guess is

length 21 1/2

weight 7lbs 2.5oz

Hair - peach fuzz

Time of birth 1:54pm on the 5th of September (my brothers birthday)

hours of labor - 10 only because you did not have any contractions with Tori

C-section sorry I know you want a v-bac and you tried

And she will be the prettiest baby in the nursery

Good Luck

donna

Angie we are getting closer for you!!!

Guhlia Rising Star

Friday is my official due date. Tomorrow I have an exam, so we'll find out if anything's happening down there. :)

Guhlia Rising Star

For those of you not following the other baby thread... I had my appointment yesterday. Nothing has changed or progressed. They scheduled me for a non stress test to determine how much longer they want to let things go. My test is next Wednesday, 5 days after my due date. All of the doctors in the practice have been very supportive about the whole vbac thing and have been very encouraging so far. I'm confident they'll let me go as long as they feel the baby is safe and I'm safe. Anyway, hopefully the baby will come before the non-stress test, but I'm not holding my breath at this point. This is exactly what happened with Tori and I never did go into labor with her. Keep crossing your fingers for me that something starts happening soon.

BTW, our central air/heat will be finished on Friday and hopefully our dryer will be fixed on Friday too. That should ease up a lot of the stress around here once I have a dryer again. I haven't been able to do any laundry lately without hanging it on my shower rod to dry. (real fun when you're working with a limited maternity wardrobe) Plus, we should be able to finalize arrangements to fix my car soon. That takes some stress off of me too. :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you to have the VBAC, Angie!!

So this should be all taken care of now.......on to having your little one!

Length 21.5 inches

Weight 8lbs 7oz

hair (lots or none) little

date September 4

time of birth (be sure to put what time zone you are guessing) 12:03 am in Angie's timezone

hours of labor 13 hours

c/s or vbac triumphant vbac!

Labour will be just like a first birth. Even though you didn't labour with your first doesn't mean you wouldn't have gone into labour hours later or the next day.

Michelle :)

Just a quick update...

Aside from getting stung by a wasp and getting heat rash, I feel great today. It was such a beautiful day out around here. I'm so glad I was able to enjoy it with the family. Actually, the whole weekend was gorgeous.

The swelling in my feet and legs is getting worse and worse. I'm starting to get a little puffy in my face too, but that could just be sinus issues. Its hard to say. I'm feeling pretty good other than being insanely hormonal. :) I've been a little worried lately about the baby, she's moving less and less (yes, I know that's normal), but I'm still going to try to go the distance so long as the non-stress test shows that she's up to it. My husband is slightly less supportive of the whole vbac thing as time goes on. He's been worrying a lot lately about me and how I'm doing and about the baby too. I'm hoping when it comes down to it that he'll support me if they give me a choice because without him behind me its going to be very hard to press on. I'm just kind of down in the dumps about things and not feeling very confident that this is going to work.

Anyway, sorry for the pessimistic post. I guess I just needed to get stuff off my chest. I've been feeling really closed in because I'm afraid if I open up to DH he's really going to really start pushing for another c-section. I know its my decision, but without his support I know I'll cave. Thanks for listening guys.

Aw Angie, sorry about all of the doubts and worries. I know it's normal at this point, but that dosen't make it any easier!

Glad you can come here, write it all down and get it off your chest. It's supposed to be another beautiful day here today--hope you can relax and enjoy it :)

And stay away from those wasps! :P

((Angie)) ~ hang in there!

Angie,

Hang in there. I don't believe you're going through anything out of the ordinary with your uncertainty with the VBAC. I think the non-stress test will help you out.....maybe she'll come before then though. :)

I opted for other c-sections but with the last one I was kinda wishing I'd decided to try the VBAC since we were in a hospital that could handle it if we had to have an emergency section. I was actually hoping we'd go into labor before the section and they wouldn't be able to do the section because it was too far advanced.

She'll be here soon and we are here if you need to talk more. :)

The worry on both you and your husband's part is normal. You are having a new experience and don't know how things will turn out.

Going into and through labour is going to be fine. Remember that there are options as labour progresses. Do you have a doula for labour support? A doula can be a real emotional and physical support to you both, lessening the fears that you have as you move through labour and birth. Or is there at least a friend who has had a natural labour and delivery that can provide support (for both you and your husband) during your labour?

I've been through this with my own VBAC experiences, and know where you're coming from (including being swollen at the end of a summer pregnancy! LOL!) Feel free to send a PM if you'd like to chat.

Hugs,

Michelle

Thanks everyone. Sometimes I really just need to hear words of encouragement. I did end up calling the doctor today because I can't get the swelling down in my one foot and now its numb. Its been three days now and its not getting any better. Anyway, I left a message for them so hopefully I'll hear back from a nurse soon.

Angie,

Are ya still with us? How are things going?

Angie,

Are ya still with us? How are things going?

I'm hanging in there. I spoke to the nurse today and she told me to be prepared for them to not allow me to go past tomorrow. I'm fine with that. I don't think I've ever been this miserable before in my entire life, not even with Celiac. I keep trying to pretend that I'm okay, but really I'm just ready to have this baby and start feeling better. I can barely walk, my foot looks like its going to explode, my stress level is through the roof, and I'm really just hormonal and down. I'll be glad to have it over with, no matter how it happens. It would be wonderful if I could go into labor naturally tonight, but I'll be okay with a c-section too. I gave it a good try and with no progression I see no reason to go any further with as miserable as I am. I'm sure all this added stress isn't good for the baby either.

My doctor's appointment is tomorrow afternoon and my NST is right after that. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow evening or better yet, be having the baby either by c-section or naturally. Either way, if I can, I'll make sure you guys know what's going on. :)

Angie, is your blood pressure ok, are the doc suspecting that you might be getting toxic if your swelling so much. At any rate good luck, looking forward to having another new member on the board.

Angie,

It sounds like it was a great idea to postpone the CIP trip. I hope you are feeling better real soon. Annika's arrival will be so welcoming not only to finally meet her but just because you will overall feel better. I hope all goes well at your appointment today, let us know.

:)

My blood pressure has been fine. I'm assuming it is still. I think they're worried because I have so much numbness in my foot as well as being swollen and overdue with unresponsive headaches. I think they're more concerned about my well being than the baby's at this point. There's no real reason to believe that the baby is in any danger at this point. Though, I guess the NST will tell us more today. I'm looking forward to finding out how the baby's actually doing. I'm not planning on eating anything until after the appointment so that they can do a c-section if they want to right then and there. I really just want this all to be over with at this point. Its just not worth it to try for a natural birth anymore. I'm too miserable.

I don't know of a connection. Lots of people who don't have celiac disease/gluten issues get shingles.
    • Ginger38
I’m 43, just newly diagnosed with a horrible case of shingles last week . They are all over my face , around my eye, ear , all in my scalp. Lymph nodes are a mess. Ear is a mess. My eye is hurting and sensitive. Pain has been a 10/10+ daily. Taking Motrin and Tylenol around the clock. I AM MISERABLE. The pain is unrelenting. I just want to cry.   But Developing shingles has me a bit concerned about my immune system which also has me wondering about celiac and if there’s a connection to celiac / gluten and shingles; particularly since I haven't been 💯 gluten free because of all the confusing test results and doctors advice etc., is there a connection here? I’ve never had shingles and the gluten/ celiac  roller coaster has been ongoing for a while but I’ve had gluten off and on the last year bc of all the confusion

There were some interesting talks, particularly Prof Ludvig Stollid's talk on therapeutics for coeliac disease.    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRcl2mPE0WdigRtJPvylUJbkCx263KF_t

Thank you @trents for letting me know you experience something similar thanks @knitty kitty for your response and resources.  I will be following up with my doctor about these results and I’ll read the articles you sent. Thanks - I really appreciate you all.

You're right, doctors usually only test Vitamin D and B12.  Both are really important, but they're not good indicators of deficiencies in the other B vitamins.  Our bodies are able to store Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D in the liver for up to a year or longer.  The other B vitamins can only be stored for much shorter periods of time.  Pyridoxine B 6 can be stored for several months, but the others only a month or two at the longest.  Thiamine stores can be depleted in as little as three days.  There's no correlation between B12 levels and the other B vitamins' levels.  Blood tests can't measure the amount of vitamins stored inside cells where they are used.  There's disagreement as to what optimal vitamin levels are.  The Recommended Daily Allowance is based on the minimum daily amount needed to prevent disease set back in the forties when people ate a totally different diet and gruesome experiments were done on people.  Folate  requirements had to be updated in the nineties after spina bifida increased and synthetic folic acid was mandated to be added to grain products.  Vitamin D requirements have been updated only in the past few years.   Doctors aren't required to take as many hours of nutritional education as in the past.  They're educated in learning institutions funded by pharmaceutical corporations.  Natural substances like vitamins can't be patented, so there's more money to be made prescribing pharmaceuticals than vitamins.   Also, look into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, developed by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, a Celiac herself.  Her book The Paleo Approach has been most helpful to me.  You're very welcome.  I'm glad I can help you around some stumbling blocks while on this journey.    Keep me posted on your progress!  Best wishes! P.S.  interesting reading: Thiamine, gastrointestinal beriberi and acetylcholine signaling https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12014454/
