OMGosh Paula, you'd better be opening that sucker up RIGHT NOW, lol!!!!

I just got my first order, I've not tried any of them yet but the foundation colors look a little more yellow then I thought they would. Ugh, I'm not sure any will be right for my skin.

I got some brushes and stuff for free gifts and I received 2 eyeshadows that I know I don't want. They are unopened, if someone would like them I'd be happy to put them in a padded envelope and send them to you. I can tell by looking they are not colors I'd ever wear.

They are:

tinsel time eyeshadow

ginger bread man eye shadow

Susan

Susan, Donna is right. The colors do often look different in the jar than on. Also, somtimes they can be mixed with lighter/darker shades to get a color you like. I have a blast mixing and changing colors, lol!

Paula, Yay for you! How can you be so patient? Start ripping those packages open right now, lol.

I opened them up, omg they are tiny how can that be 4-6 uses for the foundation, i bet i use one cantainer in one day lol. I already have makeup on, so i will try it in the morning, i wish i would have got some lip stick and eye shadow tho. But oh well that will be my next step since i get it so fast lol.

Paula, I've gotten about 6-7 or more applications out of my tiny little foundation samples, and way more than that out of my blush samples...I think the eye shadow minis will last me forever, lol. It really doesn't take a lot of product to do the job.

It's surprising how little you really need. One word of advice though is to apply very small amounts first and re-apply in layers until you get the coverage you want. If you put on too much at once it will look cakey. You can put on several applications of a small amount and it will look nice that way.

Have fun playing tomorrow!

My samples of foundation last for at least two weeks each, and I wear many layers each day. Tap the rim of the container onto a flat surface about three or four times. Whatever comes through the sifter is about how much you need for one layer. Then swirl your brush into it, tap the excess off of your brush, and buff it into your face.

I don't know if that made sense

Perfect sense Mango

And I concur, the samples of foundations should give you many applications Paula. You only need a small amount of minerals, and just buff away!

How exciting your order came today!! Have fun playing and let us know how it goes.

edit- some of the other gals have used the concealer mixed in with a little mousturizer, but they might be able to give some more tips and tricks.

hhmmmm, I pried all the sifters off and I just dip the corner of my brush into the powder and swirl it in my lid.

I did that the first time...but prying the sifters off was just too much effort

My epic order is currently just minutes away from my house :D:D:D

I ordered it on Friday! That was so fast!!!!!!!!

I do it this way too, otherwise I can't get any of it out! The little holes are plugged up in those tiny containers!

Yay Mango, how exciting!

I tried to shake it out of the holes and none of them worked, so i thought u had to pry the lids off lol. Im guessing its easier on the big lids.

Also should i get mixing bowels or is that not necessary

I think this order is going to be like 100 bucks by the time im done lol

Also are the towelettes good to use to take off ur makeup?

You'll have to talk about mixing bowels on one of the many other bowel-related threads

Just kidding...I think the bowls look fun, but I don't think any of us have tried them yet. They probably help quite a bit if you get the mini size containers. I don't think you need them if you have the full size containers (because with those you can just use the lid).

lmao, i always do that lol. At first i just read your first part of the reply and was like huh, i have brain fog, i think lol.

Ok sounds good, it would be cheaper to get a big size then when it is gone then just use that as a mixing bowl or like u said just use the lid.

I bought the mixing bowls and LOVE them  ! They are purple and come in 5 sizes. I use mostly the two smaller sizes. But they are actually measuring bowls, so they can also be used in the kitchen ;) .

LOL! Prying off the lids is a good idea. I have one container that I have to bang so hard to get anything out of, lol!

It wouldn't be hard to spend 100 bucks at EM with all the accessories and things they have. I could buy all their brushes, lol. I want to try the large mixing jars, they come with a sifter. Although, the mixing bowls do look like fun. :D

I tried Chit Chat today again and I'm really liking it. Still looking for the right blush brush tho. :)

dlp252 Apprentice

OKay, so you all DO know that the little mini containers have a cellophane tape thingy over the holes, right? It's not easy to see it but it's there, and there's no tab thingy like on the small or large sizes you just have to kind of scrape the tape off. Outside of that tape thing, my little holes haven't plugged up. :P

Paula,

I haven't tried the towelettes yet, but I've had them in my cart a few times. I've also had the bowls in my cart a few times, lol. They keep getting bumped for actual makeup.

Also, they have the empty large size containers which are only $2.00 if you wanted to get the container. I use a margarine tub lid to tap out my minerals then swirl my brush in...if you have any kind of plastic lid or bowl that you can use only for your minerals you can just use that. I have one for blush, one for foundation and one for eyeshadows. Once I get some full-sized containers I won't have to do that.

confused Community Regular

Ok donna, u just made me feel like an idiot, i never checked for tape over the dots lol.

I am going to get up early just to try out my makeup lol, in case it dont look good i have time to take it off before i have be out of the house. I cant look bad in front of husbands ex, ughhh im dreading tommorow. SO hopefully it make me look young and sexy, since i have lost weight since i seen her last lol.

Just ordered the sample kit...i am hoping to love it. I have been using Bare Minerals for a while, is the coverage as good with Everyday minerals? I still use Chanel lip gloss...it is also gluten-free.

pixiegirl Enthusiast

I did get a sample kit and I asked the customer service people at Every day minerals to help me choose. I sent them a number of pix of myself that showed my skin. I know the color on a computer monitor isn't exact but this pix were taken in daylight with no make up and were pretty right on. Oh well!

One of two of the foundations I can sort of use, but almost all of them were WAY to yellow for my skin and way too light. I'm a blonde but if I go out in the sun I tan and never burn so my skin isn't as fair as it looks. I'm a little bit bummed, its not anyones fault but I was excited to try this. Back to the drawing board.

I'll try one more time but this how it turns out to be far more expensive then Bare Minerals... its trial and error whereas with BM I can try them on in Sephora.

Even the blushes I got look pink in the pot but when I put them on my face they turn sort of an orangey hue. That might have something to do with my moisturizers, I have very dry skin and I wear a lot of moisturizer.

I'm surprised no one wants the unopened eye shadows, I'm on a Bare Minerals list and not only do they trade unopened BM all the time but they trade "used once" pots too!

Oh well they are here for the asking.

I wish there was an easier way to pick this make up out.

Hi Susan,

Sorry it isn't working as easily for you as it should. I also send EM a picture in natural light with no makeup on and the samples they sent me back were just a shade too light. It does seem to take some trial and error to get the exact match on the foundation shade. Could you just order another sample kit with colors that you think would work better?

There also does seem to be a slight difference (sometimes) in the color samples and the pictures of the color swatches. A good way to determine if a color is going to be what you think is to read the descriptions of the colors. If you hold your mouse over the color a paragraph about the color will come up. It will tell you that it is peachy-pink with a shimmer and is good for light to medium skin types or something along those lines. It seems to work out better for me if I go by the descriptions.

The other good thing about EM is that it can be mixed so if you get a color that is too dark or too light, you can add a bit of foundation or lighter/darker color to it and change it's pigment some. This has worked well for some of us.

You can also just keep ordering sample kits and try out 3 foundations, a blush and eye color without ordering anything else and all you have to pay for then is the shipping cost.

Good Luck to you, I hope you have better success on your next try.

pixiegirl Enthusiast

Thanks, I'm going to read the descriptions and try again. I'm going to order a bit darker this time, so thanks for the tip about mixing them.

My bathroom is going to be filled with pots!

It was easier when I used just a single liquid foundation but with dry skin and a lot of moisturizer it would literally just slide off after a few hours. I've had better luck with mineral make up staying on and it takes the sheen off my skin which I like.

My only real complaint about mineral make up is its a pain to travel with and I travel often. Which is one of the reason I'm hoping I can work out Everyday Minerals... they sell tiny pots which is better for travel.

Susan

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.

Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
