OMgosh I am sooooo far behind, my on-line make-up friends have been so chatty today

Jess, "No Make Up" Fridays is an excellent concept. Challenging oneself to apply the make up in way that looks like you aren't wearing any at all.

That is exactly what this cult needs, a different look for every day .......

No make Up/Casual Fridays, Tart it up Tuesdays??

They just extended the current special. Hate it when they do that

Grrrrrr! (stealing Donna's new response :D )

My husband and I were at the grocery store yesterday, and as we were walking out, he mentioned that the guy behind us in line was really "checking me out." I am well on my way to being a trophy wife.

That's what we like to hear around here Colleen ;);)

(Horsetal Everyday Everywear) has hydrogenated vegetable oil--am I out to lunch or is that not glutenous

Shall we investigate?

I am ready for a new me....thinking about a Lifestyle Lift too....haven't decided how far to go...maybe the new make- up will be enough to satisfy me for now

Have no fear babinsky, EM will change your life!! :D

HA - I can tell from your sassy saturday comment that you are far from dead. Maybe I will try getting a bit trashy looking this weekend. Every girl has to do that once in a while.

I just got a text message that my order has been delivered by DHL, and is waiting on my front porch. I ask you - how the hell am I supposed to concentrate at work for another hour knowing there is a BOX OF BEAUTY WAITING FOR ME AT HOME!!!!

cough.....cough.....hack...drool... I think I need to go home sick.

I'm afraid to ask, but "Who is Richard?"

I tried Cookie Sheet yesterday. Great pink color, love it.

Today I'm trying Exhale, Ginger Peach, Pick Me Up Pink, and Text Message! Oh wait, it's Sassy Saturday...not sure if those neutral colors will be 'SASSY' enough. Hey, but I am wearing Pick Me Up Pink!

I took time last night to lay out all the colors for today, yes I actually plan my makeup the night before!!! :D

Julie,

I know i wish i sould of got it to, i even sat looking out the window from 4-5 hoping if i thought hard enough the dhl van would pull up lol, but not such luck. Oh well, dont they say good stuff comes to those that wait lol. I guess the longer i wait for the stuff the more money i save from not ordering more lol.

I'm afraid to ask, but "Who is Richard?"

Ahhhhh, Joni <shaking head>, nice try . . . pretending that you don't know who the founding father of the silly thread is. . . Colleen has already delivered the ransom note to us:

Attention Sillyville members. We have your Richard. He says we are all beautiful. We will only release him if you place one meeelion dollars in unmarked twenties in a duffle bag and ship it to Everyday Minerals so we can all buy more makeup. Then you will have your Richard back and we will all have more makeup and be even more beautiful. It's a win win.

If you do not comply with our demands, we will all perform makeovers on said Richard until he looks like Amy Winehouse after a one week bender. You have been warned.

Don't hate us because we are beautiful!

Signed, the Everyday Minerals Cult

Unfortunately, because we have no money but instead have a wicked sense of humor, we're leaning towards letting you make him over into Amy Winehouse. :P:lol:

cruelshoes Enthusiast

Did I forget to mention that we are holding some guy named Richard that I don't even know hostage? And if they don't give us boatloads of cash to buy more eyeliner we are going to make him over like a troubled young tarty pop star? Sorry about that.

**paging through the cult handbook to see what rules I have just violated**

Here's what I have had a chance to try from my current order. I only had a few minutes to play while I was giving the baby a bath last night. Maybe I will give her two baths today so I have more time to try new things. :)

Mixing bowls - these things are even cuter in person than on the website. I can't wait to mix up new makeup concoctions in them.

Sunlight concealer - holy crap this stuff is great. It really does make the dark circles fade away. I think I need a better brush for applying it, though. I only have a lip brush that I got as a freebie with my first order.

Lavendar everyday everywear - smells great, but the tin really is tiny. I tried it on the dry spots under my eyes last night. It soaked right in and isn't greasy like I thought it might be. My skin was not tight when I got up this morning. Maybe I am imagining it, but I think it even looks better too - a smoother texture to the skin.

Makeup removal wipes - these smell really great, and are soft on the skin. I was able to use them to wipe off lots of different things that I was trying and they held up great. My only beef is that when I tried to peel off the sticker to get to the wipes, the package tore. So now I have them in a ziploc bag. If you get these, be careful when you take the sticker off.

I have 11 eyeshadows to try. Favorite hoodie I got as a sample to try as an eyeshadow. Wow - this stuff looks ultra BROWN in the container. I'll have to play with it a bit. The new car smell looks really orange on me. No way it would ever work as a blush, but maybe I could combine it with something and use it as a shadow.

Lots of fun to be had this weekend!

babinsky Apprentice

Cruelshoes...it's "Sassy Saturday"...you can wear all 11 at the same time!

babinsky Apprentice

To the original Donna....what part of Ca. are you in...maybe we can share makeup tips :D ...I am in So. Cal, border of LA and San Bernardino County

dlp252 Apprentice

Yeah, after wearing new car smell all day, it did look a bit too orange on me. No danger of knocking Pink Ribbon out of the favorite spot with this one, lol.

Today's colors: Smokey Pink eyeshadow, In the Garden eyeshadow, Corner Office blush, and I tried Fairly LIght Neutral in Matte from the Buff category.

The smokey pink is fairly dark, but it's almost what I was looking for. Maybe if I mix it with a lighter color I'll get closer.

I LOVE In the Garden...made a great smokey eyeliner.

Corner Office was a nice shade for me...but Pink Ribbon is still holding as my favorite...I MAY be close to saying that I've found my perfect pink blush, lol. Don't get nervous anyone...I still plan to order way more blush than I can possibly ever use.

Fairly light neutral looked great, so now that's FOUR categories of foundation that I can wearl.

Bad news....my mom said my dark circles are back. <_< AND, that's WITH the sunlight concealor!

Good news....I went wild for Sassy Saturday and bought some glitter eyeliner (not really EM traitorism, keep reading, lol) and some glitter lipgloss. The eyeliner is so nice...got it in PURPLE and put it OVER the In the Garden....LOOKED GREAT...not too much sparkle, but just enough when turning certain ways.

I bought some stuff at Whole Foods called "unpetroleum jelly" I'm hoping to experiment tomorrow with making my own lipglosses with it.

To the original Donna....what part of Ca. are you in...maybe we can share makeup tips :D ...I am in So. Cal, border of LA and San Bernardino County

Dang, I am in No. Cal near San Jose. :( I NEED some tips on eyeshadow application!!!! That'd be fun though.

confusedks Enthusiast

I haven't tried any of my samples yet, but I did notice the new samples have new packaging and little plastic things with 3 holes in them! It's SO much easier to get the make up out now, it was really hard before!

You guys talked me into it!! I hate the way liquid foundation rubs off on everything and leaves the jawline mark. I have used Bare Minerals, Avon, and L'Oreal mineral makeup but wanted to give this a try. I am ordering foundation, powder, blush, and brush. Thanks for the tips!

Yeehah! A new cult member. Can't wait to hear about your order and how you like it.

pixiegirl Enthusiast

I think I'm the only one not joining the cult. I feel like an outsider now :(

I don't like it as much as Bare Minerals... I ordered a lot of stuff and gave most of it to my daughter. I kept a light pink finishing powder and the lipsticks I ordered. And I do like the concealer (took me 4 trys to get the right color).

But over all I feel the powder itself isn't ground as finely as Bare Minerals. I'm older with a few lines and creases on my face and the powder seems to settle in those lines where my Bare Minerals doesn't.

Oh well just goes to prove that something is not exactly right for everyone!

I'm glad you all enjoy it!

Susan

Years  ago a friend and I drove north into Canada hoping to find a ski resort open in late spring,We were in my VW and found a small ski area near a small town and started up this gravelled road up a mountain. We  got about halfway up and got stuck in the mud. We tried everything we could think of but an hour later we were still stuck. Finally a pickup came down the road, laughed at our situation, then pulled the VW free of the mud. We followed him back to the ski area where where he started up the rope ski lift and we had an enjoyable hour of skiing and gave us a shot of aquavit  before we left.It was a great rescue.  In some ways this reminds me of your situation. You are waiting for a rescue and you have chosen medical practitioners to do it now or as soon as possible. As you have found out the med. experts have not learned how to help you. You face years of continuing to feel horrible, frustrated searching for your rescuer to save you. You can break away from from this pattern of thinking and you have begun breaking  away by using some herbs and supplements from doTerra. Now you can start trying some of the suggestions thatother Celiacs have written to your original posts.  You live with other people who eat gluten foods. Cross contamination is very possible. Are you sure that their food is completely separate from their food. It  is not only the gluten grains you need to avoid (wheat, barley, rye) but possibly oats, cows milk also. Whenever you fall back into that angry and frustrated way of thinking get up and walk around for a whild. You will learn ways to break that way of thinking about your problems.  Best wishes for your future. May you enjpy a better life.

Thanks for responding. I researched further and Lindt Lindor chocolate balls do contain barely malt powder which contains gluten. I was surprised at all of the conflicting information I found when I checked online.
    • trents
@BlessedinBoston, it is possible that in Canada the product in question is formulated differently than in the USA or at least processed in in a facility that precludes cross contamination. I assume from your user name that you are in the USA. And it is also possible that the product meets the FDA requirement of not more than 20ppm of gluten but you are a super sensitive celiac for whom that standard is insufficient.
    • BlessedinBoston
No,Lindt is not gluten free no matter what they say on their website. I found out the hard way when I was newly diagnosed in 2000. At that time the Lindt truffles were just becoming popular and were only sold in small specialty shops at the mall. You couldn't buy them in any stores like today and I was obsessed with them 😁. Took me a while to get around to checking them and was heartbroken when I saw they were absolutely not gluten free 😔. Felt the same when I realized Twizzlers weren't either. Took me a while to get my diet on order after being diagnosed. I was diagnosed with small bowel non Hodgkins lymphoma at the same time. So it was a very stressful time to say the least. Hope this helps 😁.

@Jmartes71, I understand your frustration and anger.  I've been in a similar situation where no doctor took me seriously, accused me of making things up, and eventually sent me home to suffer alone.   My doctors did not recognize nutritional deficiencies.  Doctors are trained in medical learning institutions that are funded by pharmaceutical companies.  They are taught which medications cover up which symptoms.  Doctors are required to take twenty  hours of nutritional education in seven years of medical training.  (They can earn nine hours in Nutrition by taking a three day weekend seminar.)  They are taught nutritional deficiencies are passe' and don't happen in our well fed Western society any more.  In Celiac Disease, the autoimmune response and inflammation affects the absorption of ALL the essential vitamins and minerals.  Correcting nutritional deficiencies caused by malabsorption is essential!  I begged my doctor to check my Vitamin D level, which he did only after making sure my insurance would cover it.  When my Vitamin D came back extremely low, my doctor was very surprised, but refused to test for further nutritional deficiencies because he "couldn't make money prescribing vitamins.". I believe it was beyond his knowledge, so he blamed me for making stuff up, and stormed out of the exam room.  I had studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I switched because I was curious what vitamins from our food were doing in our bodies.  Vitamins are substances that our bodies cannot manufacture, so we must ingest them every day.  Without them, our bodies cannot manufacture life sustaining enzymes and we sicken and die.   At home alone, I could feel myself dying.  It's an unnerving feeling, to say the least, and, so, with nothing left to lose, I relied in my education in nutrition.  My symptoms of Thiamine deficiency were the worst, so I began taking high dose Thiamine.  I had health improvement within an hour.  It was magical.  I continued taking high dose thiamine with a B Complex, magnesium. and other essential nutrients.  The health improvements continued for months.  High doses of thiamine are required to correct a thiamine deficiency because thiamine affects every cell and mitochondria in our bodies.    A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function.  The cerebellum of the brain is most affected.  The cerebellum controls things we don't have to consciously have to think about, like digestion, balance, breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, hormone regulation, and many more.  Thiamine is absorbed from the digestive tract and sent to the most important organs like the brain and the heart.  This leaves the digestive tract depleted of Thiamine and symptoms of Gastrointestinal Beriberi, a thiamine deficiency localized in the digestive system, begin to appear.  Symptoms of Gastrointestinal Beriberi include anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, headaches, Gerd, acid reflux, gas, slow stomach emptying, gastroparesis, bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation, incontinence, abdominal pain, IBS,  SIBO, POTS, high blood pressure, heart rate changes like tachycardia, difficulty swallowing, Barrett's Esophagus, peripheral neuropathy, and more. Doctors are only taught about thiamine deficiency in alcoholism and look for the classic triad of symptoms (changes in gait, mental function, and nystagmus) but fail to realize that gastrointestinal symptoms can precede these symptoms by months.  All three classic triad of symptoms only appear in fifteen percent of patients, with most patients being diagnosed with thiamine deficiency post mortem.  I had all three but swore I didn't drink, so I was dismissed as "crazy" and sent home to die basically.   Yes, I understand how frustrating no answers from doctors can be.  I took OTC Thiamine Hydrochloride, and later thiamine in the forms TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) and Benfotiamine to correct my thiamine deficiency.  I also took magnesium, needed by thiamine to make those life sustaining enzymes.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins, so the other B vitamins must be supplemented as well.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   A doctor can administer high dose thiamine by IV along with the other B vitamins.  Again, Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine should be given if only to rule Gastrointestinal Beriberi out as a cause of your symptoms.  If no improvement, no harm is done. Share the following link with your doctors.  Section Three is especially informative.  They need to be expand their knowledge about Thiamine and nutrition in Celiac Disease.  Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test for thiamine deficiency.  This test is more reliable than a blood test. Thiamine, gastrointestinal beriberi and acetylcholine signaling.  https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12014454/ Best wishes!
