I got an amazon gift card for Christmas from my parents and since I have been spending a lot of time in bed...I want some new DVD's. I like light-hearted, funny movies. I would love to know what everyone's favorite movies are. Any ideas?

Kassandra

P.S. Hope everyone had a great Christmas! :)

Oh! Hi Kassandra. :) This is an easy one.......I LOVE fluffy European or Euro-ish love stories. Some to try:

~The Holiday (coooooooziest English cottage and a swap with a FAB house in LA)

~A Good Year (oh! a vineyard in the south of France....... *sigh*)

~Love Actually

~Somethings Gotta Give (okay...maybe this is geared for OLDER single women but it's one of my faves)

~Under the Tuscan Sun (glorious)

~Chocolat (more love in France)

I own these and watch them repeatedly.........I am sure I can think of more!

celiac-mommy Collaborator

Anything Julia Roberts--

Pretty Woman

Nottinghill (LOVE this one)

Runaway Bride-kinda cute

Also 2nd the Holiday, really liked that

-just saw Waitress with Keri Russell-LOVED that too

Toilet humor--Superbad was super funny, but NOT for kids-or people who don't like significant toilet humor (Borat was too much for me)

My favorite of ALL TIME--from the time I was about 8--Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea It's about 6 hours of fabulous!!! I've seen it so many times and it NEVER gets old. I can't wait for another year or 2 to watch it with my DD. Hope this helps!

The Wizard of Oz

Yours Mine and Ours

Any of the American Pie movies

Old School

Road Trip

Disney Movies are always fun and a good way to remember your childhood. I love Alice in Wonderland and Beauty & the Beast

confusedks Enthusiast

Great! Keep 'em coming!!! :) :) :) :) :)

codetalker Contributor

The first one is definitely one of my favorites. It is a real gem. The other two are very good. The second is good if you normally do not watch anime.

Amelie

Princess Mononoke

Chocolat

If you want something a bit more serious: Black Book

Don't bother with Pirates of the Caribbean: End of the World. It was a real disappointment.

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

Another Funny Movie we always like

Mean Girls

Dickey Roberts former childhood star.

I second the nomination for Superbad. But only if you don't mind lots of curse words and crude humor.

I, Robot was great.

Loved Ratatouille (apologize if that's spelled incorrectly)

National Treasure

Lisa Mentor

A few of my favorites:

Farris Bueller's Day Off

Hunt for Red Octobber

ET

Treat yourself to great humor from bygone days. Here are my favorite movies of all time, in no particular order.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Young Frankenstein

Blazing Saddles

Clue

Arsenic and Old Lace

Anything Abbot and Costello

My Fair Lady

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

The Monty Python movies are funny too.

Offthegrid Explorer

Live Free or Die Hard was very good also. Definitely had a neat plot. I liked it a lot even though it is a stereotypical "guy" movie.

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

Another one which was neat and timeless for us Labyrinth with David Bowie. Fantasy like movie with the gnomes and gremlins but timeless.

We also like the Adam Sandler movies for a good laugh....I think I laugh the most at Big Daddy. It is my favorite Adam Sandler movie.

I watched Spanglish....but it was hard to see Adam Sandler not being funny. Good Movie though.

Here's a list of some light/entertaining/kept my interest movies

Amelie - great, cute!

Fever Pitch (if you want a light-hearted nothing heavy movie, it's cute - but predictable -- if you don't like Drew Barrymore, don't bother)

Breach (spy thriller - very good)

Sweet Home Alabama (cute love story)

Any newer animated movie (like Incredibles/Cars)

If you're going w/ Christmas theme --- Polar Express

Sideways (a little dry humor)

The Bourne Series (all three are edge of your seat good - but bloody!)

Glutenfreefamily Enthusiast

One of my fav's is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

HA, yeah that's a great movie. I've seen it many times and it always makes me laugh.

Never Been Kissed is another good, lighthearted, funny movie.

Adventures in Babysitting and Summer School are two late 80's movies that are rather simple but funny and enjoyable and the kind of movies you can watch many times.

Hi @Atl222 As @trents points out, there could be many reasons for this biopsy result.  I am interested to know, is your gastroenterologist concerned?  Also, are your blood tests showing steady improvement over the years? I remember when I had my last biopsy, several years after diagnosis, mine came back with with raised lymphocytes but no villous damage, too! In my own case, my consultant wasn't remotely concerned - in fact, he said I might still get this result even if all I ever did was eat nothing but rice and water.   My coeliac blood tests were still steadily improving, albeit slowly, which was reassuring.

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @Atl222! Yes, your increased lymphocytes could be in response to oats or it could possibly be cross contamination from gluten that is getting into your diet from some unexpected source but not enough to damage the villi. And I'm certain that increased lymphocytes can be caused by other things besides celiac disease or gluten/oats exposure. See attachment. But you might try eliminating oats to start with and possibly dairy for a few months and then seek another endoscopy/biopsy to see if there was a reduction in lymphocyte counts.

This is a solid, well-reasoned approach. You’re right that “koji” by itself doesn’t indicate gluten status, and the risk really does come down to which grain is used to culture it. The fact that you directly contacted Eden Foods and received a clear statement that their koji is made from rice only, with no wheat or barley, is meaningful due diligence—especially since Eden has a long-standing reputation for transparency. While the lack of gluten labeling can understandably give pause, manufacturer confirmation like this is often what people rely on for traditionally fermented products. As always, trusting your body after trying it is reasonable, but based on the information you gathered, your conclusion makes sense.

Seven months can still be early in celiac healing, especially if you were mostly asymptomatic to begin with—symptoms like low iron, vitamin D deficiency, nail changes, and hair issues often take much longer to improve because the gut needs time to recover before absorption normalizes. A tTG-IgA of 69 is not “low” in terms of immune activity, and it can take 12–24 months (sometimes longer) for antibodies and the intestinal lining to fully heal, particularly in teens and young adults. Eating gluten again to “test” things isn’t recommended and won’t give you clear answers—it’s far more likely to cause harm than clarity. Weight not changing is also very common in celiac and doesn’t rule anything out. Please know that your frustration and sadness matter; this adjustment is hard, and feeling stuck can really affect mental health. You deserve support, and if you can, reaching out to a GI dietitian or mental health professional familiar with chronic illness could really help you through this phase. This study indicates that a majority of celiacs don't recover until 5 years after diagnosis and starting a gluten-free diet: Mucosal recovery and mortality in adults with celiac disease after treatment with a gluten-free diet However, it's also possible that what the study really shows is the difficulty in maintaining a 100% gluten-free diet. I suspect that if you looked closely at the diets of those who did not recover within 2 years might be that their diets were not 100% gluten-free. Perhaps they ate out more often, or didn't understand all of the hidden ingredients where gluten can hide. Either way, it shows how difficult recovery from celiac disease can be for most people. According to this study: This article explores other causes of flattened villi:
