If you put 'chex' into the search filter you will find multiple threads showing that some people think they're fine, others can't tolerate them.

I eat Chex and Kix with no issues.

txplowgirl Enthusiast

not safe for me. I get sharp intestinal pain, bloating and headaches.

celiac-mommy Collaborator

we eat 'em, no problems...

I had no problems for the longest time then started having problems with the Cinnamon flavored ones. Haven't had them in about 6 mos because of that. Will be trying them again soon.

RideAllWays Enthusiast

I drove down to the US to get them, bought 6 boxes, and loved every bite. Will be going again soon.

Just a thought--could it be sugar in them? They are sweetened with something that replaced the malt.

The cinnamon ones bother me too, but I think it is something to do with the flavoring because I have problems, but not as bad, with the chocolate too. I can do the plain rice and corn chex just fine though.

They replaced the malt with molasses :) Not sure if that could cause a reaction or not.

Tigercat17 Enthusiast

I get a reaction every time I try them. First I tried the Cinnamon Chex & then I just tried to Corn Chex two weeks ago & I still get the same stomach tenders & my acid reflex comes back the next day. At first I thought it was cinnamon but I'm still getting that same reaction I'm not sure what it is. I just know they bother me. :(

JBaby Enthusiast

Safe. I never get sick.

I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity and a wheat allergy as a child in the early 1960s, . which I inherited from my father's DNA. My mom tried the best she could with both of us, but in those times health and allergies were kind of brushed aside.  I grew out of it, or so we thought, but the rashes reared their ugly heads while I was in college. Keg parties (wheat & gluten in beer and youthful reckess eating led to an outbreak. To the point, I am a 65 year old and now living with full blown celiac with dermatitis herpetiformis blisters that are just beginning to receed after being gluten-free for over 2 years at least. The lesions are so unsightly that I need to stay covered. Ive been living in South Florida and would love to wear shorts but people see the sores and thing I am a leper. Ive lost a lot of weigh from  stomach cramps and frequent bowel movements. Will this ever end!

@StuartJ, what brand of gluten-free flour did she use?

Congrats! Can you share the recipe? We just picked up a bread maker from an estate sale and are experimenting.
