i think this makes total sense.. even tho it was a small group- i completely believe it- it makes sense that roughly half of Celiacs may have similar reactions to corn while others are completely fine. i ate gluten-free corn bread & dressing for days over thanksgiving- and i seriously feel like i did before i went gluten free. :(

I'm discovering I have the same issue. I noticed I was reacting to Corn & Honey Nut Chex cereals, checked the label - corn. So I switched to only Rice & Cinnamon Chex (both are rice only) and I'm fine. After I saw the huge difference, I dropped corn from my diet altogether. I feel soooo much better. It's amazing that after you go gluten free you suddenly find other intolerances...

My money is that it's true that 1/2 of us have issues with corn too...at least for some time until our bodies heal up.

This is that same 2005 flawed study everyone keeps pointing to. There was 82 ppm of gluten cross-contamination in the corn.

Makes me wonder a little about the self-styled experts writing for Celiac.com.

Thank you for pointing that out.

It does show how corn has a tendency to be contaminated and eliminating it can be beneficial for some celiacs.

For years I couldn''t figure out if it was wheat or corn I reacted to when I went to Mexican restaurants; then I realized it was both :o

Don't blame the corn if it was the fault of the wheat which was snuck into it.... :huh:

      Stop eating oats as it did give me irritation.The only diffrent thing i have been consuming are a new probitics which seem to have a fruit ive never heard of as a prebiotic

      It could well be a new intolerance developing.  Does your diet incorporate pure oats i.e. those safe for coeliac consumption?  I find I can only tolerate a certain amount, same goes for dairy in fact, then I start to get gastric symptoms.   Or have you started consuming a new type of gluten-free bread, or more gluten-free bread than normal, that might contain oats?  I remember reading a post on this forum from a woman who had started to eat a lot of loaves made with oat flour and her coeliac symptoms kicked off again.  I am sure you know this, but some coeliacs cannot tolerate pure oats.

      I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

      You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?
