Calling On All Veteran Celiac Posters

Well the past few weeks have been interesting for some new diagnostic studies, was hoping that all the veteran celiac folks could shed some insight. I have been seeing a gastro for 2 months now who I really like, he takes time and is very thorough. I had another EGD 2 weeks ago and an entire battery of celiac labs completed again, which shows normal biopsies and all may labs having retruned to normal, including TTG Iga, Igg, antigliadin Iga, Igg, and deamidated gliadin. This is all good news, obviously as he states I am remaining gluten free to see this improvement, however I still get many of the same symptoms everday. Pretty much continous epigasttri gnawing with slight nausea, constant pain into my rib cage on the right and midback, and occaaionally on the left, and still frequent bloating and burping???

Gallbladder is out as of Dec. 13th, showed chronic cholecystitis. Limiting much of the processed foods, also have casein allergy, which I have removed from my diet, if it does slip in it is very infrequent. Still feel lousy though.

The Gastro is confused as isn't sure if these are manifestations of celiac still lingering, with everything else improved?? I guess what I am curious or wondering about is if patients cont. to feel like this even after there intestines and labs get better, and if so for how long??

Anyone with experience on this, or who has a similar process??

Thanks again in advance

Try to eliminate dairy products and see if your symptoms are relieved. Or perhaps you have developed another intolerance.

I have removed the dairy(casien) from my diet as well. NO real change

I have the same symptoms too. I also had my gall bladder removed. I do know of other intolerances that have developed since going gluten free. Pretty easy to figure out lobster makes me vomit. Foods with high iron content give me "D' and cramping.

If you figure anything out let me know. I'm sick of doctors treating me like a headtrip and I have to pay for the service.

I think you probably have another food intolerance. Both dairy and nightshades (potato, tomato, etc.) get me. There are folks on the board intolerant to soy, and some to corn.

I found out a few months ago I was intolerant to corn, but until recently did not know that most vitamin C supplements are made from corn. So are magnesium stearate and stearic acid that labels state are derived from vegetable sources. Once I figured this out and quit supplements containing these I finally felt better.

Could it be you have an ulcer?

Did they check for H pylori when they did your scope?

You could do an elimination diet for a couple of months (get back to just plain meat and veggies), let things heal up and settle down, and then add stuff back in one by one to see what's bothering you.

And some like me intolerant to corn, soy, nightshades and legumes. It took me a couple of years to figure out or (in some cases) develop them.

Holy cow- you pretty much have all the exact symptoms I do. I had my gallbladder out last year but have off/on had pretty much exactly those symptoms. For me they did an MRCP (an MRI of my bile duct) to make sure there still wasn't something obstructing it even though I don't have a gallbladder anymore. That was negative but I'm still having problems and now they think it might be Sphincter of Odi Dysmotility-- this is where the sphincter that empties from the bile duct into the GI tract doesn't function properly. I haven't had the test for this yet, but I'll be making an appointment when I start having symptoms again. These may be things you want to be bring up to your doctor if they haven't thought of it already. Your symptoms really sound more related to a problem in the area of your bile duct- especially the pain into the back, that is almost classic for that.

Good luck!!

I think I found a huge culprit for severe reactions to create worsening of my c symptoms. Do people with celiac have sensitivity and /or have opposite reaction to certain medications Where can I find a list ?  I'm new here I'm.wondering why I am getting worse when I take certain medicine...the burning feet.  Rebound muscle pain so intense  How many people get opposite effects or have a horrible attack after these meds

Does anyone know if that includes scrambled eggs and healthy smart butter (,gluten free) I add a very tiny amount of margarine less than a teaspoon.  I did no't have any bread    It just seems like no matter what I eat my stomach and nerves over fire and here comes a host of horrible symptoms. My lower abdomen feels horrible, my right leg thigh muscle.. very odd. Jaw pain. Burning feet , joint pain , you name it  The anxiety just creeps up into brain fog. I don't think I could explain this to anyone who is unfamiliar.  Also,  I most likely will not remember posting this until I check it.  This is highly unusual for me because I have an excellent memory.  One weekend before I knew anything about celiac I lost an entire weekend from severe brain fog, confusion, pain, etc.  I honestly thought I was losing my mind. When I think back I recall eating a lot of PBJ sandwiches and turkey sandwiches.  Once again did not know about gluten.  I was just too sick to cook. Do people fast during attacks ?? It seems horrible to keep going through this. I hope I'm not causing my own problems... I wonder if I should fast because I'm not eating gluten .  Chicken ,  scrambled eggs no milk , canned carrots,  gluten free low sugar low fat Greek yogurt which I already posted about 😞 Any suggestions I am open... I am bedridden when this happens to me.  Thank you Celiac community. 🙏🏻❤️

Yeah, that sounds super familiar. When inflammation levels are high — especially at the start of changing your diet — the body often develops a fructose and lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the only thing that really helps is cutting out anything that isn’t lactose-free or that contains sugar. So basically, stick to meat, veggies, fish…

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you
