  1. Low white cell counts are normal for anyone with autoimmune disease. White cells are part of the immune system. Mine are chronically low and have been for many years but I don't worry about it. It's only a problem if you are getting sick often and I don't. I have been doing weight training and cardio for the past 2 1/2 years but haven't had my blood work...
  2. Perhaps this will help with the egg problem.....Open Original Shared Link I seem to be having difficulty with links in my replies but you can just paste it to the address bar. There are commercially made egg replacers in the grocery stores so maybe this will help make more things available to eat for your daughter. I think it fabulous that you have already...
  3. You have a good sense of humor.....Operation Gluten Free! I like it! Really....this is not hard to do, it just takes a little adjustment. We can help you find substitutes for your daughter's favorite foods and they can be just as yummy as their gluten filled counterparts. Be positive about the whole thing in front of your daughter and she will adjust...
  4. You can take them half way through or at the end of each meal....doesn't matter. As long as they go into your gut when you are eating food or your stomach is full of food.
  5. I can just see IrishHeart with her loaf of Wonderbread too......oh, the images this brings to mind!
  6. I am not a doctor but use digestive enzymes myself at every bigger meal because I have pancreatic insufficiency.. I would advise you not to take them every morning on an empty stomach because you might end up with a stomach ache. They are meant to be taken with meals, to aid in digestion for those that need them. Your doctor is giving you bad advice.
  7. You never take digestive enzymes without eating. They are meant to break down food better. Did he mean probiotics instead? Those you take on an empty stomach, at least a half hour before food.
  8. Glad I could be of some help. I know many people may not agree wit this but if you do your homework as far as what the real dangers are, then you can concentrate on those and not worry about things that you really need not worry about. I use a small amount of foundation, mostly to cover those annoying hyperpigmentation spots that occur after menopause...
  9. Hi Quincy.....I have not had a repeat bone density since my last one in 2011. Not in any hurry as it does take longer to build bone in us 50 somethings than it does for the younger crowd. I am 53 and female. I have osteopenia in the hip and osteoporosis in the spine but am hoping that has changed for the better. I also take supplements and work out weight...
  10. Yes, tocopherols are considered safe because of the tiny amounts and the fact they are so highly refined. You know, I am a very sensitive Celiac who reacts to extremely small amounts of gluten which enters my gut. This is how a reaction occurs. The first link you sent, the one written by a nurse, contains inaccurate information. Gluten is not a danger...
  11. Those test results were a bit hard to read but I agree with Mushroom. Your daughter has Celiac Disease. Those numbers are pretty high for a 3 year old. Those numbers will change for the better once she starts the gluten-free diet.
  12. The tTg (IgA) number is testing for intestinal damage and 115 is high. However, she is only 3 so damage could be very patchy. Sometimes it takes years for the small intestine to be damaged enough to find easily. Villi damage cannot be seen with the naked eye and needs microscopic analysis for diagnosis. Sometimes, if people go long enough, the small intestine...
  13. Open Original Shared Link Here is an article on Tocopherols that you might find informative. I am not sure if yeast extract is a worry for Celiacs as I cannot find it listed on any forbidden lists. I don't know that much about it but yeast, in general, is not a concern.
  14. This contains tocopheryls, which is Vitamin E and it can be derived from wheat. However, it is very highly refined and is considered safe for use by Celiacs. I can send more info on this tomorrow as I am in a hurry now and don't have time BUT I would guess that is where the wheat MAY be. I use cosmetics with tocopheryls, am an extremely sensitive Celiac...
  15. I have been gluten-free almost 8 years and the only other intolerance I have is to dairy. I haven't gotten that back so it's doubtful I will at this point. I can eat small amounts like milk in my tea but can't eat ice cream, drink a glass of milk or eat anything with a big dairy hit. However, I am not too bothered by this because dairy isn't always the...
  16. I'm not sure if you need to check published research on testing for compliance. The tests routinely run by any doctor treating people with Celiac Disease and the ones I have run every once in awhile are the AGA IgA and AGA IgG, which are the older tests. The newer one, the DGP, is the same but newer and more sensitive. These check for antibodies in the...

    ARCHIVED Thyroid Physician

Can anyone recommend a good thyroid physician in the Massachusetts-New Hampshire region? This is for my niece, who is having symptoms of thyroid disease and, as usual, their dopey PCP will not treat her because it isn't bad enough yet. I think she has sub-clinical thyroid disease and needs a small amount of Armour but her doc will not budge on this. She...
  18. I am so sorry you had this problem! It is easy to get tempted so don't beat yourself up...lesson learned. I doubt the injection had any gluten component to it as they just don't use anything like that in injectables. There are different ingredients but many are acid based...the same type of acids found in the human body that keep your complexion looking...
  19. I wanted to add something I thought of after re-reading your original post.....both of his blood tests just show results as being greater than 300. This is a lousy and inaccurate way to do blood work as they need to give a definitive number. His original testing could have been 600 or higher, and then on re-test in November, it could have dropped but still...
  20. I would start with a full Celiac panel for re-test and they usually give people a hard time about that. It can be hard to accomplish here in the States unless you really press docs about it. They think that doing one or two tests from the panel are enough....not so. You need a full panel because each test is checking for different things and knowing which...
  21. A doctor should never use tTg on re-test for dietary compliance as other autoimmune diseases can elevate tTg levels. These can include liver disease, Hashimoto's thyroid disease, and a number of others. The correct test to use for dietary compliance is the AGA IgA/AGA IgG or the newer, more sensitive one, the DGP. Of course, you are not in the US so I...
  22. :D So very funny, Princess!
  23. Hi Rachel! I have Sjogren's Syndrome, along with Celiac and suffer from dry mouth. I use Biotene mouthwash and although it is specifically made for those with dry mouth, it has a nice minty flavor that leaves a refreshed taste in the mouth. It also contains the enzymes that are found in saliva to protect your teeth against decay because those with dry...
  24. I am happy to hear you are healing and feeling better! The longer you remain gluten-free, the better you will feel. It also helps to have a doctor who is gluten intolerant!
  25. Sounds like someone can't tell the difference between judging others and giving advice. We choose to spend time and energy helping people on this forum...not judging them. The OP knows that cheating is bad but comes here to gather strength and uinderstanding. That's what we are here for. That's part of my Acts of Kindness only I don't stop at just 26.
