  1. I just picked the first few things today. Three medium sized tomatoes, two lemon cucumbers and three pears. I do have some onions, a pepper, some other tomatoes, and mint growing out there. I generally just eat the vegetables in salad. When I have had large amounts of apples and pears, I have made things like applesauce, Applets, apple crisp, pie...
  2. Sounds good! Thanks!
  3. You can get cooked chicken that comes in a pouch or can. Be sure to read all ingredients. Not all are gluten free. My daughter likes this mixed with a pouch of microwavable rice, either plain or chicken flavored. Canned vegetables are your friend! We get the single serve ones with the pop top and eat them right from the can. We really love green beans...
  4. It depends on what it is. I used to buy the bulk nuts, but after I learned of my almond allergy, I quit doing that. I did once buy some bulk gluten-free pasta but was then afraid to use it and tossed it out. I have bought bulk beans and popcorn, but not for some time. Reason being, I can get fresher and cheaper stuff at my health food store. I do still...
  5. My husband is Italian and doesn't know the difference.
  6. I looked it up because I'd never heard of it. Seems it is somewhat like bologna. Could have nitrates in it. If you are getting it from the Deli dept., it could be cross contaminated.
  7. For tacos, I use just plain ground beef or I might add chopped onions. Daughter prefers it that way. I can't have dairy any more, but I used to love spaghetti or other pasta tossed with a bit of butter, parmesan cheese, black pepper and plenty of Italian seasoning. I also like pasta mixed with kidney beans and black pepper.
  8. Good to know! I just used a Nic's Stick but not that color.
  9. I have a bread machine but only had sporadic success with it. The main problem I have is that daughter will want a couple of slices of bread maybe once a week. If I have a whole loaf, that's too much! I've had no success freezing it. It just crumbles. We do avoid eggs, dairy and almonds as well. That could be why. I guess I am lucky she likes the...

    ARCHIVED Boston's

Well... I was not impressed but daughter loved it. Due to my food allergies, there isn't a lot I can eat there. Perhaps a salad with some stuff left off, but I opted for a burger patty with lettuce, tomato, onion and French fries. Also a salad with no croutons, no dressing, and lemon. I ordered my food just like I typed it out. The waitress said...
  11. The mixes themselves are dairy free. You are supposed to use butter in the cookies and brownies. Not sure about the cake. I subbed in coconut oil and it worked fine. I subbed Nucoa margarine and not so good.
  12. I guess it would depend on where you have to buy the food! If I can get something at one of the grocery stores near me or the health food store around the corner and they always have plenty in stock, I buy it as I need it. If I have to drive far away or mail order it, then I stock up. If it is something I buy at Costco, I generally have to buy a case...
  13. The Ener-G works well. You can also use flax meal and water, mashed banana or applesauce. I used the Betty Crocker mix. Worked well.
  14. I thought Oberto always had wheat in it?
  15. At first I went overboard. Bought every kind of flour and additive I could find. Most of the stuff, I didn't use. For flour, I use Bette Hagman's Four Flour Bean Blend, white or brown rice flour (whatever my recipe calls for), sweet rice flour (for thickening), and glutinous rice flour (one kind of quick bread). I buy occasional mixes for things like...
  16. My daughter is not celiac but is allergic to wheat. She was allergic to dairy and eggs. Has since outgrown them but has been told not to have them over twice a week now. So when I bake and cook, I generally do not use eggs or dairy. Mostly we reserve those things for meals out. We use rice cheese for sandwiches and pizza. We get the vegan kind....
  17. They put pinto and kidney in it now. I like pinto beans. I just don't like them in chili. It's mostly meat. Not a lot of beans. And not a lot of flavor. Maybe if you add the hot sauce, which I never have.
  18. Is that canned pumpkin? I have some and don't know what to do with it. Thanks!
  19. I think it's the same as grits. Just has an Italian name.

Thanks! We'll try it. Or I should say daughter will. I'm allergic to eggs so no pizza for me.

I was told they have a gluten-free pizza. I stopped in there tonight and they do. Has anyone tried it? They are closer to me than Garlic Jim's and unlike Garlic Jim's actually has something on the menu that I can eat.
  22. I get the chili although it's not so tasty as chili goes. I get the French fries but you need to check at your location and see if they have a dedicated fryer. The baked potatoes, mandarin oranges and side salads are safe too.
  23. It has been posted elsewhere here that Pace is not gluten-free.
  24. I don't know where you ate but I've found at most chain restaurants and fast food places, the chicken breast is not safe. They usually come frozen with wheat and sometimes milk in them. There are a few places here that make chicken from scratch and it is fine. The fries may or may not be safe. You'd have to check to see if they were done in a dedicated...
  25. I would do a meat and cheese tray, fruit salad or fruit plate, veggie plate, maybe with a dip of some sort. Chips and dip.
